Or do you mean "Liberal" in the American sense? Which means any policy or outcome that isn't supported by the bat sh*t crazy right wing nut job screw everyone but the top 0.05% crowd?

No, I do mean the UK version of liberalism. Though someone needs to have a word in Chuka Umuna's ear. He made a very bad career move joining libDems. I wonder if he might come back to the Labour Party now, he was a popular chap.

No. We should always welcome the opinion of Greek chefs and Italian cab drivers, lol.

He actually means socialism but it is probably hard for him to admit he voted for this.

Nobody voted for the virus and consequent lockdown ruining the economy that has led to a third way budget..

Though it has to be said, Lefties would've voted for the virus given the option.

Hoorah for the brexiteers - good news., at last

Originally goods going from mainland Britain to NI after Jan 1st would pay tariffs but would be refunded if those goods did not move in Ireland, as they would simply be moving from one part of the UK to the other

It now appears the pln is not to apply tariffs....

....as there is not the mechanism,. staff or infrastructure to deal with those tariffs/checks

As it appears to be the case with every other port !

This is likely to fall foul of WTO rules, which will be quite constraining as it is with...... 'most favoured nation' rule

So to get round this the UK are now saying they might not have any customs checks on goods coming into the UK from the EU for the time being...... no smuggling there then !

Lies and delusion collide massively with reality

Well done fatboy

Yep - lies, delusions and not forgetting total incompetence, this government really has got the full set.

Well done the UK. I know only a minority voted for them but there is still no getting away from the fact that 42% of voters were stupid enough to vote for this shower of ****e - says it all really about the truly shocking state our country is in.

Staggering, that they thought that an habitual liar was not lying to them

The 'get it done' slogan was straight out of Trump's three word slogan repertoire.... build a wall, lock her up

Over excite stupid people, with short slogans .... four legs good, so as to avoid getting drawn into explaining things.

What was 'promised' to the numpties could never be delivered, as the prior three and a half years had shown.... hence it all falling apart now.

Not investing in schools, hospitals, the police etc was justified by there not being a 'magic money tree' ..... yet the Tories have sudden;y found a ruddy forest of them

The guff about 50, 000 new nurses* has also now fallen apart.... but not the worry, there'll be another vacuous slogan along in a minute for the not too bright to bleat  "they need us....more than we need them. baa baa"

Surely that is all 'project fear ..... baa baa "

Haven't we already signed 'great deal' around the world, are w not to set sail on a sea of untold wealth once free of the shackles of that naughty EU and their trade deal

Why shouldn't the UK consumer pay more for 'cheaper stuff, why shouldn't the UK holiday makers be free to pay roaming charges on their mobile calls ?

What right have the EU to poke their nose into offshore accounts - we all have them, as Rees- Mogg will testify

So my thought is you can shove you clean beaches, clean air, safe food and workers protection

this is Britain, and we are happy with smog, turds in the sea and zero hour contracts

so roll on Jan 1st whimage.gif.50622fc4846ebc9837b55f76a4e26a16.gifen we can eat those US specialities of sausages in Dettol, mad beef, and unwashed chicken

it hasn't done these folks any harm

Call it what you like. The important thing is we have left that corrupt, rotten, undemocratic, failing abomination. Now we can watch as The EU continues to fall apart, without having to pay billions to bale them out.

I don't think he's been paying any attention at all, to either UK or the EU - if he had he could scarely have missed the fact that it is the UK that is rapidly falling apart into 3, perhaps even 4, separate countries.

But then he is almost certainly English and doesn't give a toss what happens to the rest of the UK, although I suspect his outlook may become a lot less rosy when the bill arrives for the forest of magic money trees that the Tories have recently been working their way through 🤣

something that naughty Bill has been pointing out - nice to have confirmed

"However, the EU can point to the terms of the political declaration, signed in haste by Mr Johnson last autumn to strike an exit deal and take the UK out of the bloc on 31 January.

It agrees that, on any dispute over EU law, “the arbitration panel should refer the question to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) as the sole arbiter of Union law, for a binding ruling”.

And, on so-called ‘level playing field’ issues, both sides pledged to “uphold the common high standards applicable in the Union and the United Kingdom at the end of the transition period in the areas of state aid, competition, social and employment standards, environment, climate change, and relevant tax matters”.

Despite Mr Johnson’s signature on the document – and ratification by the Commons – the UK has insisted it will not sign a trade deal that prevents it breaking free of EU rules, or leaves it under the remit of the CJEU."

So, in a nutshell, Johnson agreed to the above, so he could say that he could solve the brexit problems in one go - therefore encouraging the not too bright to vote for him in the election

Now those awful EU are asking the UK to stick to what they willingly signed up to. Which rather reminds me of the episode where Delboy brags about being able to fly a hang glider .... then has to.

brexit, not so much 'get it done' as you've been 'done over'

ps I expect more to come out ☺️

Agreed it was Dark Navy. And the UK could have kept that color if we wanted to, but we decided to change it to Burgundy (like every one else In the EU)?  OK, so now that we are leaving the EU we decided to revert to Dark Navy.

No problem, except that it’s Black. Or if being very generous Midnight Blue. It is NOT the same color as before - unless they have fixed it since the one Pritti Patel was showing off - in which case I stand corrected.

This should be interesting

I wonder if they'll have fatboy up on camera being questioned when that report into Russian interference in UK elections is finally made public

in the meantime for more evidence of Tory corruption

"The Cabinet Office has awarded an £840,000 contract to research public opinion about government policies to a company owned by two long-term associates of Michael Gove and Dominic Cummings, without putting the work out for tender."

Also....

It's the whining about the "corrupt" EU when, as Bill points out, the government are clearly handing out lucrative contracts to their mates.

It's the whining about the "undemocratic" EU when Cummings is driving around literally like he owns the place.

These people better wake up soon before they completely trash the country. Apathy and stupidity have left the country a wreck.

There are 18,000 more nurses and midwives registered to work in the UK than just a year ago:

So you really expected 50,000 new nurses and midwives in a year which has witnessed a pandemic and 4 months of lockdown?

Think things through before posting.

Not heard of the The Covid-19 temporary register ?

Also from the NMC report.

What has driven this growth? It has come mainly from a combination of people joining from the UK, and from countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). The number of people from outside the EEA joining the permanent register for the first time rose from 6,157 to 12,033 (a 95 percent increase). If we drill down further, we see that two countries in particular fuelled the growth from outside the EEA: the Philippines and India. The total number of professionals on our permanent register who trained in these two countries rose from a combined total of 48,359 to 57,303 (an 18.5 percent increase)
