Well done mouse brain

"then we will have the very good option also of an Australian-style arrangement"

That arrangement is no deal ie trading on WTO rules. So enthused are Australia with that arrangement that they have been working hard for years to set up a free trade deal with the EU.... which is imminent, and

"Australia and the EU are natural partners, with a shared commitment to the rule of law, global norms and free and open markets. As articulated in the Foreign Policy White Paper, a strong EU is vital to Australian interests in protecting and promoting a rules-based international order. We want an FTA with the EU to set the benchmark for what can be achieved between like-minded partners. An FTA with the EU has the potential to open up a market for Australian goods and services of half a billion people and a GDP of US$18.7 trillion. It would provide Australian exporters with a competitive edge, and would give Australian businesses access to a larger export market in the EU. Australian consumers and companies stand to benefit from a free trade deal with the EU, through greater access to goods and services at lower prices.

An FTA would provide Australian exporters with a competitive edge and would give Australian businesses access to a larger export market in the EU. Australian consumers and companies stand to benefit from a free trade deal with the EU through greater access to goods and services at lower prices."

So to make it easy for brexit thickos, the trading arrangement Aus has with the EU is the one they are desperate to dump,

as they want the deal with the EU that the UK currently has, but now wants to, err..............................dump 🥴

And it is a measure of how dim mouse brain is in regard to ALL of this, that he posts up a link that rips brexit to shreds

As to the rest of your Lefty rant, all I'm reading is 'Capable', 'capable'...

The real question here is: Are you capable of rational thought?

NFN FC --- "Please people, have a go at a little research if you don't believe me."

You need to practise what you preach 😀

I am definitely capable of rational thought (and punctuation 😉).

Why do you call it a lefty rant? Brexit issues span further than 'lefty' and 'righty'.

Really. Is that a pinky promise? And what about on the EU side then?

EU are entitled to do what they like on their side of the border - subject to agreement. We have already stated their will be no incoming checks on our side of the border. And despite Clucky Nora's scare tactics there will be no EU customs staff in the UK. The EUs request for an office in the UK has already been turned down.

So you will agree with me that when you posted under 'Johnson's Lies'

So, taking back control of our borders means having customs checks, monitored by the EU, inside sovereign UK territory

Any customs checks in the UK would amount to nothing more than filing a few bits of paper online, which are done anyway for every logistical transport, and handled by British customs within Nortern Ireland. The EU will have no one inside the UK monitoring anything. That's you making up stuff

Of course when goods move beyond UK borders it will trigger customs paperwork but that happens now, even intra-EU.

They are desperately trying to box everyone into two distinct camps. It's easier for them to have a singular enemy to rant about.

If Jools had ever read this thread properly he'd realise most of us have different political beliefs veering from left, central and right.

So in summary, we have two "leaders" of their respective nations who jumped on a romanticized and whitewashed cause - reestablishing the Confederacy and rebuilding the Empire respectively - and who have no interest whatsoever in actually governing their countries. So every action is a public performance of "getting it done", but the populations have only so much tolerance for this BS. Here in America, despite having at least one pro-government propaganda channel - looking at you Rupert Murdoch - we are at that point, all this nonsense has been clarified by the Virus, and teargas and riot police, so now he's running an openly fascistic, Confederate "blood and soil" message to his dwindling number of followers. Maybe if there are riots, he can still win - it worked for Vladimir. And in the UK you are still in the nonsensical "signaling" phase of tearing down every aspect of a functioning government to "get Brexit done" and to impose "great leader" style rule - the latest nonsense being investment in a satellite.

Let's assume its related to high speed internet as the article below suggests - Labour was criticized for an attempt to "nationalize the internet" for their pre-election broadband plan - if you want high speed internet for all it's called fibre optic cable. Satellite is a joke - it is by definition a bandwidth constrained solution - and will require orders of magnitude more investment than £400million to make it work - but I guess it's another piece of BS that can be put out there about "investing in Britain's global future"

Or let's assume its related to GPS applications instead - oops another screw up : that won't work.

https://www.engadget.com/uk-oneweb-satellite-internet-galileo-bharti-global-230005051.html

When your Government does not want to govern, why are they there? For the US this has been a 40 year journey started by Ronald Reagan with "the government isn't the solution, the government is the problem"

For Britain, who / what is the driving force behind this current idiocy?  This is not "Putting Britain First"

Different jobs for a start. French passport control officers are based in the UK for the convenience of Eurostar passengers (so much for that freedom of movement, having to get you passport checked, hey?). We could get them removed tomorrow if we wished.

But that's completely a different scenario from that being painted  by City 1st, who was trying to scare us all into believing that there would be EU customs staff placed in Northern Ireland to carry out custom checks on goods transported from Britain to NI. That was just another City 1st lie.

Juxtaposed borders are not just for the benefit of Eurostar passengers, they are in place to help the UK to keep illegal immigrants and dangerous goods out of the country

And it´s an agreement, I don´t think we could renege on it tomorrow, if we wished

I understand it is a different job to the customs staff. I´m just a little surprised that the fact that the French can cause disruption on our territory (we can do likewise in France) doesn´t seem to bother many people, especially those that voted leave.

So, what a surprise! Jools comedy web site does not understand what the level playing field is.

Here's an explanation.

https://www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/explainers/future-relationship-level-playing-field

Be a good chap Jools and pass it onto your comedy mates. 😀

Hey, Squits, I put it to you again -- what level playing field?    👇

Shock admission by EU : ‘We have no level playing field’

The EU demands the UK does one thing, but does the opposite

cards.jpg

Commission’s own 2020 Single Market scoreboard gives out 166 red & yellow cards to its members

The UK was one of the top performers but benefited the least, says the EU

Against a background of the EU continuing to demand that the UK obey all manner of ‘Level Playing Field’ restrictions in return for a trade deal, it transpires that the EU’s own playing field is in fact an “uneven landscape”, according to its own admission.

Not only that, but the UK was the top performing major country in the EU last year, despite getting the least out of Single Market membership.

Brexit Facts4EU.Org Summary

Key findings of the 2020 Single Market Scoreboard include:

  • “Uneven enforcement of single market rules”
  • “An uneven landscape for Single Market enforcement”
  • The number of infringement procedures against Member States has grown
  • EU legislation was incompletely or incorrectly transposed
  • 59 red cards were issued – only one of these was to the UK
  • Worst performing countries were Italy, Spain, France and Austria

uneven_landscape_scoreboard_2020_3.jpg

et despite obeying the rules:-

“The UK has the lowest trade integration in the single market for goods
and the third lowest trade integration for services.”

- Official 2020 EU Single Market Scoreboard for 2019, EU Commission, 03 July 2020

The Single Market Scoreboard provides a detailed overview of how EU Single Market rules were applied in the European Union in 2019. It evaluates how Member States have performed as regards market openness, governance tools as well as in specific policy areas, based on a number of selected indicators. The findings are presented in the form of a "traffic light” chart, by attributing red, yellow, and green cards.

In its final full year as part of the EU, the United Kingdom received just one red card, compared to Italy (6), Spain (5), France (5), Austria (4), Netherlands (3), and Germany (3).

Observations

For years Brexit Facts4EU.Org has been monitoring the EU's annual Single Market Scoreboard. For all those years we have observed the UK performing very well against all the measures, and yet receiving the least benefit from Single Market membership.

The latter point is not just our opinion. It is what the EU Commission itself says, and it is based on the EU’s own trade integration figures.

So, the United Kingdom has stuck to the rules more than any other major EU country, and yet has gained the least.

Is it not extraordinary that Michel Barnier and his EU colleagues have whined on incessantly about the need for the UK to obey its “Level Playing Field” provisions, when that is exactly what the UK has been doing, compared to the other major member states?

And is it not even more extraordinary that the United Kingdom is the country which has benefited the least from Single Market membership?

Making Michel feel at home on Monday

On Monday Michel Barnier and his eurocracy will descend on London for the first time in these UK-EU ‘trade talks’. This a great opportunity to dominate the ‘landscape’. We propose that David Frost, UK Chief Negotiator, get some blow-ups of the following, and put them up on the walls in each meeting room.

The thing about that City1st’s latest ‘proof’ that you and now Barbe bleu do not exist but are just figments of VW’s boundless imagination is that his one key ‘fact’ actually springs from a crucial false assumption.

I did try to save the poor dear from himself with a follow-up post that hinted at the error by mentioning multiple threads but he didn’t take the hint or didn’t want to. Either way, true to form, he doubled down on this totally exploded ‘proof’. That’s my boy.
