The Positive Brexit Thread

All remouners (re-joiners) are saying no deal Brexit, but I still believe the EU will see sense and give us a deal.

They've already 'given' us several deals - so far we've reneged on every one soon after we signed up to them.

They are very unlikely to agree another deal, and the most important one at that, unless they are sure we will honour it and nobody believes we will - you would have to be absolutely stupid to trust Johnson and Gove to fulfill their promises and whatever faults the EU may have they are certainly not that stupid.

Does Swindo realise that we have given the EU what they asked for?

yes, as do his fellow liars/trolls

but that is all they have left

just provocative lies, desperate to get a reaction

if it is not a dusky maiden as a girlfriend, it is Dave Bowie round his flat.... or failing that, a sudden discovering that you were a manager at Honda, as well as an 'engineer' at BMW

sad, sad little worlds, that you might expect from 6 year olds - not sixty something year olds

A measure of the sheer stupidity of this nonsense is the new customs checks that will come into force on Jan 1st

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/jul/10/government-launches-new-get-ready-for-brexit-campaign

a basic sum up would be if ST holders were to have to fill out a detailed form and submit it to the club before each game and carry a copy themselves

On entering the ground they will have to pay the difference between their ticket cost and what it would be if it were a casual ticket - they apply for a refund of that amount, if they have the necessary documentation and proof of seat occupancy times, that need to be lodged with the club

The club estimates this will amount to around 2 million extra forms to process per season - but as yet is not certain of the extra costs in staff and equipment

A supporter, Mt Dimwit Dave of Swindon, has claimed this is a massive leap forward  and costs can easily be taken from the playing budget

Kent voted overwhelmingly for Brexit and now large parts of it are going to be the first to find out "what they voted for".I should feel sympathy for them but after all this time I can't. Like the farmers, a dose of reality is what they needed, but it will be far too late.

What the administrative time and cost of that and the new VAT and custom checks and tariffs will be lord knows.

A £705m funding package to help manage Britain's borders has been announced as the UK prepares to leave the EU customs union at the end of the year.

Plans include new border control posts and 500 extra Border Force staff.

The new funding will include up to £470m to build port and inland infrastructure, and £235m will be allocated for IT systems and staffing.

The money for IT and staffing includes:

  • £100m to develop HM Revenue and Customs systems to reduce the burden on traders
  • £20m on new equipment
  • £15m towards building new data infrastructure to improve border flow and management
  • £10m to recruit around 500 more Border Force staff.

I can't see that being any problem to get up and running in a few months 🤔

Taking it further we have

"The checks will be necessary even if the UK avoids crashing out of the transition period without a deal, because even an agreement will prevent the free-flow of goods that takes place now."

Yet

''When the 2016 referendum was held, Brexit campaigners repeatedly denied such checks would be required – but now describe them as inevitable, under the prime minister's clean-break exit deal.''

So

"Under the plans, new border posts will be created inland where existing ports have no room to expand to cope with the extra checks that will be required at the existing entry points.

so in summary -

where goods could move quickly and freely each lorry will now have to be checked, as will the drivers

lorries will have to wait up to be cleared - great news for 'just in time, and chilled food

the UK will have an EU monitored customs border INSIDE it's sovereign territory

ps I wonder how many of the extra customs staff will be non UK citizens 😆

So, even the brexiteers are warning about the dangers of Brexit

Those dimwits who thought their EU travel would not be affected

Travellers will be told to

  • ensure they have comprehensive travel insurance
  • ensure their passports are valid for long enough
  • contact a vet at least four months in advance if taking a pet
  • be aware phone roaming charges will be re-introduced

''Stephen Dorrell, of the European Movement and a former Tory cabinet minister, said: “For decades, Britain has argued the case for open markets and our economy has prospered as a consequence.

“Now Michael Gove invites us to celebrate the erection of ‘the world’s most effective border’, which will destroy jobs and remove opportunities from UK citizens.”

I wonder how much travel insurance will be for the senile - those who voted brexit, or how much time it will take checking it at the customs.

How much the cost of tariffs, and restrictions on quotas will amount to.

How restrictive WTO rules will be as the UK goes cap in hand around the world - probably the only country not enjoying the benefits of being in a trade bloc.

Sadly, there is more of this nonsense still to come

Especially the bigots whining

Tory MP for Ashford in Kent complains that the new lorry park, being built to deal with a blocked Dover port, is unfair

https://www.indy100.com/article/damian-green-brexit-unfair-constituency-voted-leave-9615396

Another Tory MP says "the prospect of people losing their jobs because of Brexit was made 'very clear' during the 2016 referendum." ..... really ?

https://www.indy100.com/article/andrea-leadsom-no-deal-brexit-job-losses-tory-leadership-video-8950416

And without reciprocative health care many of the old bigots with pre-existing health problems may be priced out of travelling to the EU,  with the cost of travel insurance reflecting that health problem

oh dear

Under previous no-deal planning, the government warned that travellers would need to

  • get their pet a blood test at least 30 days after a rabies vaccination, which the vet must send to an EU-approved laboratory.
  • wait three months from the date the clear blood sample was taken before travelling
  • the test will remain valid as long as rabies vaccinations are up to date
  • the pet will need a health certificate for each trip
  • a valid pet passport is still required to re-enter the UK

Expect more whining and howling from the bigots when they find out how much that little lot will cost - maybe they could see if they can get the all clear by having themselves checked at the same time.......☺️

Do you think we'll ever get an apology from the brexiters?

No, just as those former Milice and French voluntarily serving in the German Army apologised. I have listened to numerous interviews and the comments are sadly just as predictable, as they are sickening

Brexiteers will convince themselves that it failed because they were 'stabbed in the back'... or any number of other absurd and nonsensical 'arguments'.

And as far as they were, and still are, concerned this was never anything other than to 'cleanse; the UK of foreigners - hence none of them having a clue about the consequences or even a care.

Perhaps he should have spoken out during the public consultation process for this holding centre

There was a consultation process, I assume 🤗

As said, there is still more to come, with today

UK government expects

  • businesses to complete an additional 400 million import and export customs declarations as a result of Brexit,
  • at a cost previously estimated by HM Revenue and Customs at anything up to £20bn a year
  • op to a dozen inland customs centres similar to the controversial planned lorry park in Ashford, Kent, are to be built

The Brexit bureaucracy burden will be imposed whether or not Boris Johnson succeeds in reaching a free trade agreement (FTA) with Brussels by the end of 2020 – though if he crashes the country out without a deal there will be additional costs from tariffs on European goods and checks on the origin of UK exports.

Conservative former cabinet minister Stephen Dorrell said: “Last November Boris Johnson said that there would be ‘no forms, no checks, no barriers of any kind’. Today, the grim reality is laid bare.

So Johnson lied through his teeth to get elected and now those lies are being exposed. Not the idiotic bleat of 'project fear' either, but the cold hard reality of what lies ahead

A very concerning read
