I prefer you to just crawl back under whichever stone you recently emerged from but don't go out of your way just to please me  😉

It's no bother, I only exist to think as you do.

As soon as my Alzheimer's kicks in I should be just about there

And none of you labour chaps commented on this video

How does it feel to be voting for a racist party

The left is eating itself

This is the story of Peter Ridd

You won't like but watch it

Open up your mind to our Orwellian society

It sounds like Alison Pearson of the Telegraph is spreading the misinformation.

Just to finish this off, the Leeds reporter who wrote that hospital story has a piece in The Guardian today saying, and I am sure he is telling the truth, that every aspect was meticulously checked out before publication. Despite that, as he says:

Following that moment our original story was sucked into a vortex of disinformation that would make Orwell blush. Very quickly, a number of seemingly manufactured social media accounts were peddling lines such as: “I am a former paediatric A&E nurse, and …”, going on to discredit the image. One other standout line peddled by hundreds of fake accounts said: “I have a good friend who works at LGI, and …” going on, again, to discredit our story and our source.

Now, this isn’t necessarily unusual but the intensity of it was. The speed at which this disinformation proliferated was mind-boggling. Even more disconcerting was that it cut through to the consciousness of normal, real, ordinarily sensible people. It then cut through to people with larger media profiles and influence. For example, Allison Pearson, a columnist with the Daily Telegraph, declared: “So I have detailed explanation from paediatric nurses explaining why photo of child on the floor is ‘100% fake’. I will put in @Telegraph on Weds.” Not done with attacking Sarah and Jack, she added: “Stage a photo. Cause outrage. Castigate people who doubt it for showing insufficient compassion. Jesus.”

As far as I can tell Pearson has not made good on that promise to reveal all today but has apparently been deleting some of her previous comments and instead is tweeting about dogs. This from David Lammy:

'Glad you deleted this tweet, but I see no apology to the parents you smeared by claiming they faked the photo of their sick 4-year-old sleeping on the hospital floor.'

I did predict this election would be dirtier than any before, and it has, and while Labour and the other opposition parties have roughly speaking kept to the old rules it has been the Tories who have plumbed these untold depths.

It won't change any minds but there are at least a few Tories ashamed by their party:

On that note, I wish you all the best, vote for whomever your conscience and confidence aligns with.

We will find out who won soon enough.

God bless y'all.

That's a good piece but the people that can't see what Johnson is blatantly up to will never see it until it is too late. It's a shame but one thing I will take from this is a respect for old tories like Oborne and Parris. I probably won't ever agree normally with their political views but they are currently closer to mine than ever before.

ComRes

finally a better one for Labour

I think all of the pollsters have covered all of the bases. One will be right! This last one does show a bit of Labour surge probably collecting the don't knows. - or reluctant and tactical Labour voters.

My suspicion is that the votes will be very non-uniformly spread - local issues, tactical voting, turnout and demographics could all swing votes all sorts of unexpected ways which is why the polls can't agree. It's a who you don't want election (Farage is right on that at least - FPTP needs changing).

Some on here may need counselling on Friday!

Maybe the first election where organised tactical voting will hold the key.

It's quite likely they will move back to voting Labour at the next election if Brexit gets done and Labour has a better leader and adopt sensible policies. Don't give up hope.

Nothing wrong with policies that include all people. Not just the chosen ones.
As I have said many times, I am not a Corbyn fan but you have to go with who the party elects. But you have to have a trustworthy, sincere leader and you are going to vote for the biggest liar in politics. And can you name any Tory policies apart from Get Brexit Done?

Increase nurses by 20,000

No  income tax, VAT or NI increases

Pensions to rise by at least 2.5%, triple lock intact

no one to sell home to pay for care

Zero emmissions by 2050

£6.3B on home insulation

Points-based immigration system that no longer discriminates against non-EU people

250,000 extra child care places

New rail lines, restoration of some of the Beeching's cuts

£7.1B extra school funding

Now does this look like the policies of the Ghengis Khan party? No, it's very soft, one-nation Conservatism that eveyone can vote for. Plus you have the added bonus that Boris will get Brexit done.

It's what I've said before and if we are voting in the negative (as I am) to keep somebody 'out' then the Tories may have the most to fear.

We'll see on Friday!

Then we can all get back to far more important issues supporting the Canaries ....

Ok

Prediction time

I forecast (guess) conservative majority of 30

I would expect most on here would agree (regardless of their politics) by, say plus/minus 15 seats?

For sure, there's a whole new thread there - 'When did the UK last have a sensible government'

Of course, like the Brexiteers that's very backward looking but I don't think there would be any point in starting a 'When will the UK next have a sensible government' because there isn't going to be one, certainly not in the foreseeable future. I think if people are imagining that once Brexit is done (whenever that is - a decade would be my guess) that our politics are going to go back to 'normal' then they are in for a great disappointment.

Much has been changed and broken in the last few years and what we've seen over the last few weeks is the new normal. After tomorrow things will continue to get worse, and almost certainly the decline will accelerate even further.

Still they say every cloud has a silver lining and the smart money all seems to be on the pound getting a short term boost if the Tories win. So in a way a Tory win, although a disaster for the country, is a bit of a double bubble win for me personally - confirms the need for me to get a shuffle on and get across the channel pretty damn quick (my personal getting Brexit done😀) but also gives a brief window to buy Euros at a better rate - will still be rubbish really but hopefully slightly better than anything on offer since the referendum pound devaluation kicked in.

Out of interest, which country are you planning to move to?
