I doubt it will make any more difference than the Remain Alliance. Jeremy Corbyn will never be PM.

It makes a huge difference to those Labour Leave-voting folk North of the Watford gap who would never vote for a Tory, Ricardo.

The Brexit Party will help the conservatives to take Labour seats 👍

The Brexit Party's polling is so poor that Farage has abandoned any attempt at being credible.

None of the polsters believe they'll make much difference, 9% shouldn't even get you on the TV debates.

A humiliating climb down. Farage has been bent over the barrel, had his pants pulled down and let Johnson roger him without lube.

Fancy a wager on how many seats the Brexit Corporation will win?

He's given Labour a very handy slogan. Vote Farage, get Tories.

I don't think that this manoeuvre by Farage is as worrying as I first feared.

Invigorate the Labour vote. Anger the Brexit Company voters and split the leave vote.

Well done Chicken Nige. It's almost as if he doesn't want Brexit to happen.

Is that a yes to the bet, Jools? How many are you going to go for? I'll let you take 1+ if you want?

Think about it for a second Jools instead of looking for stupid memes. If hardened Labour leave voters would never vote tory why would they vote for a tory stooge? Easy messaging for Labour.

The Brexit Party will go down in history as being worse than UKIP, well done Nigel, that's 7 failed attempts at getting elected and two fringe parties you've managed to wreck.

It's known as a reverse Midas.

UPDATE: The Tories have responded to Farage’s decision:

We welcome Nigel Farage’s recognition that another gridlocked hung Parliament is the greatest threat to getting Brexit done.
If we have another hung Parliament it would lead to two more chaotic referendums next year.
The Conservatives only need 9 more seats to win a majority and leave by the end of January with a deal.
We can then finally move on as a country, and focus on the priorities that matter to you and your family.

Labour no longer represents working people in the north and Midlands. Labour is in the grip of hardline Momentum activists who have no interest in working people, their families and communities.

I would be very surprised if that happens and still expect BXP to finish with zero seats. They may take some disgruntled Labour votes though and that will do some damage in itself.

I am still looking at Labour above 200 seats.

The pound has now hit a six-month high versus the euro and strengthened as much as 1 percent against the dollar, after the Brexit Party said it would not contest previously Conservative held seats in the UK's upcoming election.

It's seen as a big boost to Boris Johnson's chance of getting a majority and pushing through his Brexit deal.

The pound rallied to as much as $1.2896 on the news, before easing to $1.2880. Versus the euro, the pound strengthened to its highest in six months, at 85.62p.

When this is happening in their strongholds you can see why Labour can't win.

Westminster voting intention in...

Core cities:
LAB: 31% (-23)
CON: 26% (-5)
LDEM: 22% (+15)
GRN: 8% (+6)
BREX: 7% (+7)

The spread betting markets have moved considerably since I tipped Tories at 327, now 341

Johnson and his Brexit promises eh? As trustworthy as a Nigel Farage election promise.

Boris Johnson’s government appears to be preparing to nominate an EU commissioner, potentially breaching another Brexit promise after he failed to meet his “do or die” deadline to leave on 31 October.

The incoming president of the commission, Ursula von der Leyen, wrote to the prime minister last week, asking him to propose a British candidate or candidates for EU commissioner “rapidly, in the shortest time possible”.

Johnson’s spokesman said on Monday that the government would comply with the law. “The UK meets its legal obligations, and our officials remain in regular contact with the president-elect’s team,” the spokesman said.

These candidates that Farage has thrown under a bus, will they be getting their candidate fee back from the Brexit Company?

Probably not.

Sir Nige has shown great courage and put country before party.

Yeah right. So his campaigning to evangelize for a full and complete Brexit was yet another scam. If Boris’s deal was bad - that was last week’s message - what changed?

Who whispered in his ear? Do his Brexit party members agree - oh I forgot it’s a company 😞

It seems he’s afraid of two things - letting the British people vote in a second referendum is one, the other we must presume is whomever is pulling Nigel the pantomime puppets’s strings.

Brexit party candidate says he was 'disappointed to see [Farage] bottle it'

Wayne Bayley, who until lunchtime was the Brexit party candidate in Crawley, a Conservative-held seat, isn’t very happy about the decision taken by his leader.

Even his own party members can see he's bottled it. 🤣

You may not have noticed, but currencies go up and down every time there is “news” - it’s the way currency traders make commissions - just like real estate agents always tout “its a good time to buy” irrespective of the actual financial climate or your ability to pay the mortgage. Any “positive sentiment” in the market over Tory prospects is because the banks know they have that party in their pocket.

Let me know when the Pound is back to $1.50 or higher and then I will be impressed.

Sounds like another campaign finance violation if they don’t and if so the party and principles should be prosecuted to the full extent of British Law. Of source it is a Company not a Party, so in that case it would be fraud and the Company  directors should be prosecuted for that and the Company wound up.

I’m sure their defense is the deposits are akin to a gym membership, nobody seriously expects to go to the gym for a whole year, it’s just what you do to feel good at the beginning of each year.

But in that case most expect to at least go to the gym once, and not be told the premises don’t actually exist - sucker!

Yoda the corruption is strong with these ones ..

I guess selling out your principles and your party is one way to finally sit in Westminster - you can keep your day job and never stand for election again too. Who actually believes that he turned it down? Who actually will believe Boris when he says it was not offered? Probably fake news eh?
