Bill 1,788 Posted April 1, 2019 There is currently 57 points between the two teams - and it is looking more certain that the teams will finish top and bottom at the end of the season. Can anyone see a time when we will ever be so far apart while in the same division ? We won more games in 14 days of March than they have all season so far. It is looking likely that our home attendances will add up to a quarter of a million more over the season One player who has scored almost as many as they have in total so far By almost every measure they have been well, well below us. ps we have yet to see what the effects of their losing around 40% (?) of their income next season will have - perhaps they will sell off some of their 'stars' to allow them to cover their wage bill and rebuild 🤣
daly 551 Posted April 1, 2019 If they like us start Div 1 winning then the gates will be higher than at present Look at Sunderland 45000 plus for a Div1 game compared to when they were losing in The Premiership Fans are fickle win and the gates go up

It's Character Forming 1,204 Posted April 1, 2019 Sunderland seen to have a pretty committed & generally decent fan base to me. Unlike that lot down the road.
splendidrush 720 Posted April 1, 2019 They've blown most of their budget giving Chambers a new deal. The youngsters, that they're relying on will be sold if they're any good, that's how Evans operates.
Surfer 1,547 Posted April 1, 2019 The one thing that Evan's has got going for him is it's 80 miles from Ipswich to West Ham's ground which is the only PL team with spare seats going cheap. So Ipswich fans really have no options about going to watch anyone else. I'm much more impressed that Sunderland can hold onto their fans given Newcastle is only 15 miles way, but then again it is Sunderland v Newcastle.
splendidrush 720 Posted April 2, 2019 We've already started academies in Suffolk with our Cat 1 status, the longer they remain outside the Premiership, the easier it is for us to increase our fanbase across East Anglia.... especially now that we're heading to the Prem. 😉
Crabbycanary3 994 Posted April 2, 2019 Yeh, that's all well and good, but don't forget Norwich (Dortmund, Celtic yada yada) fans can't generate the same noise/atmosphere that the 1p5wich fans can (according to Lambert). So we still can't quite assume total domination over them.............
BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) Latest rumours are that they have what they call a "buyer" for the club lined up. This is a difficult concept when there is nothing to actually sell apart from a long lease from the local council, and they have already disputed the annual rent on this, a poor squad of limited value and poor goodwill, emphasised by the low crowds, and when even the stands that they own are in need of costly upkeep. Add to this the massive debt and the continued annual loss and Evans would be lucky to find someone to take it from off his hands for free. Bolton apart, it would be difficult to find a club in the top two leagues in such dire straits as ITFC. There might not be any in L.1. either as clubs there work within their limitations, by and large. Edited April 2, 2019 by BroadstairsR
Bill 1,788 Posted April 2, 2019 What price a 'glorious history', surely that has to be worth something As well as that farmhand who walks around the stadium with a megaphone like it's the walls of Jericho Section six who are a half a dozen similarly minded simpletons who have got together to kick up a racket, in the naive belief that it will improve the players performance 😆 Theirs is to bang on the bottom of a swill bin And the bush growing out of the roof, a sort of hanging gardens of binland Yes, they must add a few quid more to the value
