Funny that, was saying on a thread a few days back that Mcveigh is under-used. Not that one performance maketh a good player, but its good to see a "skill" player rather than an "Energy" player come through for us.

Perhaps McVeigh didn''t start because he wouldn''t fit in the huddle.

It seems as thought Worthy was trying to keep it tight at the start so began with his workhorses then brought flair on later: McVeigh enforced and Huckerby by choice.

To now say why not start with McVeigh is spurious. I think Worthy is right to play it this way and hope he will do so again and next time we can get the first goal or not concede.

Only someone who''s slept through a lot of the last two seasons could fail to understand that it''s McVeigh that''s at fault, not Worthngton''s selection policy. McVeigh is just terminally unreliable - you never know whether he''ll be bothered until he''s on the field and the whistle goes. A nightmare.

worthy shouldn''t change a winning team, although I suspect he''ll put

flem in for dav, but mistakenly in the docs position, and because soton

are decent side, he''ll start brennan on left to provide defensive

cover, if hucks isn''t fit.

If thorne is injured, he''ll start hendo up front and still there''ll be no place for 2 goal hero mcVeigh.

God, its so predictable and frustrating - its not rocket science worthy, Please don''t fiddle with a winning team worthy.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Hey hucker come on....... Started to keep it tight!!!!!!!!! we have the leakiest defense during the start of away games!!!!

JIM BRENNAN - how is he still at our club.. let alone getting picked ahead of other players

ANDY HUGHES - wouldnt look out of place in the conference - and we paid ,money for him

And look at Jason Koumas playing for a cardiff team with less money than we have i take my hat off to Dave Jones

And worthys opinion - well straigt from neil doncasters mouth ''koumas is not the sort of player NW is looking at bringing to the club

ANDY HUGHES IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not tosh at all, totally right. You clearly have been asleep for most of the last two seasons otherwise you''d know that McVeigh is inconsistent. He either disappears completely in a game or lights it up. Whenever he''s had a good game, he''s got a little run in the side and gone off the boil again. Lets see what happens this time.

WLY is the classic example of so many features of worthys reign as manager.  So frequently the ''blame'' player when he has do little wrong.

He was superb from the plymouth game until brighton whih was actually our best part of the season.   Here he started or played up front partnering Ashton and playing good close link up play football, and tied in with ashtons best period this season.  After the international break WLY was no longer partnering Ashton and as the ball by passed him in midfield he was again blamed/dropped.

Play WLY in the right position with the right service and he can damage teams in this league - sadly the manager seems unable to realise this.

agree with you zip, although mcveigh would argue he is best upfront, he

looked his most effective for city on left wing 2-3 years ago. good

skill and he had an eye for the goal then as well. With fit hucks, he''s

on the right wing, and doesn''t suit him as well to be fair, but he

still looks better there than hucks does.

Would like to see him playing alongside ashton, but just behind him. they played well together against hull wasn''t it?

McVeigh''s stats (as everyone seemed to want them),

9 starts, 8 subs in the league

1 start, 2 subs in the cup

Starts(league):

Plymouth, won 2-0, set up the og, went off 73rd min

Ipswich, won 1-0, went off 79th min

Reading, lost 1-0, went off 62nd min

Hull, won 2-1

Brighton, won 3-1, scored

Millwall, 1-1

Luton, lost 4-2, went off at HT

QPR, lost 3-0, went off at HT

Wolves, lost 2-0, went off 64th min

Subs(league):

Leeds: lost 1-0, came on 88th min

Stoke: lost 3-1, came on 60th min

Watford: lost 2-1, came on at HT

Cardiff: won 1-0, came on 10th min

Millwall: lost 1-0, came on 81st min

Coventry: 2-2, came on 49th min

Derby, lost 2-0, came on 17th min

Crewe, won 2-1, scored twice, came on 20th min

In some of those matches he was great, Plymouth, Coventry, and

yesterday at Crewe. In the matches that he was rubbish in, the whole

team was rubbish.

Anyway, you can all come to your own conclusions.

I am not saying he is a world beater as proven by the stats....

I would love to see the jim brennan stats - to see his contribution - as he seems to get picked aghead of mcveigh so often

It was funny to see that Ryan Jarvis only got 4 appearances last year!!!! including a game he scored in
