In Dubious Battle 0 Posted December 12, 2005 I remember a time not too many years ago when it was the norm for cityshome attendances to be as low as 16,000 for home games, when we starteddoing well again thousands of fans suddenly came out of the woodwork.Given that we''ve now gone back to the form of the bad old days how longwill it be until these ''fans'' disappear again? Saint Canary 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Name another club in any sport who''s attendances would not drop should the "quality" of the product decrease. I would still buy my season ticket if City were in the conference but others would choose to their disappointment by not buying a ticket. It''s down to choice as to how people spend their money. LinkNR9 0 Posted December 12, 2005 When we had those gates, we had a poor team and no money to buy better players. Right now, we have many players (Green, Ashton, Davenport, Huckerby and Safri, for example) that other managers would love to have in their sides. The maanger should have the side in the top six with that lot as a base for the team.

Pyro Pete 1,889 Posted December 12, 2005 You think gates of 16,000 are bad? I think you need some perspective. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s 16,000/17,0000 were the averageattendances at Carrow Road. Throughout this period, Norwich werealmost continually playing in the top flight, occasionally finishing inthe top six, reaching FA Cup semi-finals, winning the League Cup etc.Only Mike Walkers all conquering Premiership side managed to getattendances over the 18,000 mark for a couple of seasons. This was theera I grew up watching city in.So for me, to see 26,000 at Carrow Rd on a regular basis is somethingnew. An amazing response from the fans considering we all knew wewould be relegated too. Even a drop of 5,000 would still leave highlyrespectable attendance figures. So lighten up mate!(Of course, then there are the proper olden days when they crammed ''emin like sardines. But I''m too young to know about all that!) Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Look at Premiership attendences for the teams who scrape a living in that league: Birmingham, Blackburn, Fulham etc.Look at Championship attendences for large clubs who are stuck in a rut: Coventry, Leicester, Wednesday.Whatever the league fans want something to aspire to. Norwich''s attendences have kept up as the aspiration was there at the start of the season. Will it still be there after January? That should be the boards concern. The next four games are crucial for more reasons than Nigel Worthingtons position.
