Yep i am now more convinced than ever after hearing those comments

coupled with worthys comments on the same program" we are waiting for a

buying club to make an offer"  and TBH i thing he has wanted a

move for months judging by his body language , why he ever came here in

the first place is still a mystery to me if the rumors are to be

believed of him turning down 2 premier clubs to come to us.

he made the comments on a radio norfolk interview after the match last night.

Usually players say they want to play in the prem ''hopefully with norwich'', but instead he said, i''m focused on norwich.

Either this means he wants to play in the prem but will focus on city

until an offer comes in or he wants to play in the prem with city, but

obviously its not looking likely this season.

We were a Premier league club when he signed - how long have you been following Norwich?

Try to keep up!

In my opinion, Ashton has never been a total ''canary'', his body language always had a ''loaner'' style to it.

I''ll say what I always say to players who don''t want to stay at my beloved City:

SOD OFF!.

How about 35 years and the last 20 as a season ticket holder so don''t

belittle me  . Yes a struggling premier team at the time an in all

honesty looking very unlikly to survive so yes i was surprised .

Does annoy me when players who really wanted to stay here were not

offered contracts or were sold, yet we''ve seemed to cling on to the

hope that Ashton is going to stay. He won''t of course and I say good

luck to him. The situation it leaves us in is having no players left...

Edworthy, Svensson, Holt, Jonson, Helveg, all these players said they

wanted to stay this season and would have probably done a steady job

for us. I know I''m not a manager, but if I had players who would have

given something to the team and really wanted to stay I would have

tried my best to keep them here. Be honest, Ashton only ever saw us as

a stepping stone to something bigger but thats the way things happen in

football. It will be a sad day when players like Ashton and Green do go

but the key is how we react to it.

deano has undoubted talent and however disappointing it is for city,

its not worked out between us. we all thought he''d score loads this

season after doing well in the prem.

he''s ambitious and of course he''ll be off to the prem - who wouldn''t go?

worthy says he''ll go if the price is right, and if we had a £7m offer

in aug, that came after an impressive start with city, but for a player

who hasn''t scored for 10 games, how much would you pay for him? £3.5 -

£5 at most.

Sorry Svensson but;

"Edworthy, Svensson, Holt, Jonson, Helveg, all these players said they wanted to stay this season..."

Don''t think that is quite true, lol.  Svensson wanted to return to his homeland, and Helveg didn''t want to play in the fizzy league. Eddy wanted to stay, but refused a contract offer, Holt is now struggling in division 2.

Sorry Wiz, can''t agree with your sentiments on this one. He is the best

striker that we''ve had at the club for a long time. Words about

building a team around a good spine (Worthy''s words I believe) seem

somewhat mute here.

Why did he look so handy in the Premiership - simply because of

service. Without that service he has looked an ordinary striker. Who

should we blame for the lack of service?

I think the words from both Worthy and himself on the Championship

suggests that he''s out of the picture. Worthy saying he''s signed a

three year extension is just his way of saying you''ve got to pay for

the lad. Such a waste of talent from City''s perspective.

now that he has said he wants to go..i dont think we will get the money thats been mooted... he club obviously dont want to Pee him off by trying to force him to stay when he doesnt want too... clubs are going to bid low now.. its ok us saying "oh no thats not enough...." but we cant really keep him now he wants out.

he hasnt scored in 10 gaes anyway.. he''s the next John stead!

I still maintain we will sell him for less than we bought him for.. as i have said previously.. Performances dictate price... and he is woeful at present.. also.. with him saying "i want out" clubs arent going to bid high.. i still say someone sgoing to get hm for between 1 and 2 million

jas :)

I think Svennson wanted a 2 year contract and we were only prepared to offer 1, which, given his injury problems seemed spot on to me. I wonder how he''s doing for his new club?

agreed Northern Canary.. Svenners wasnt that good in the prem i didnt think.. but he was a proven championship asset and we knew what he could do.. a clueless decision by the Clueless manager!

1 year contract, not really great is it. Would you accept 1 year? It''s

not like they were Iwans age, they were around 30, not exactly over the

hill is it. 2 years would have been fair... some great forward thinking

by the club. Thats the point I tried to make, we had players here last

year who could have done a job this season but for some reason were

allowed to leave without much of a fight. We held on to some of the

quality players yet we knew that if things didn''t work out they''d be

off in January, so why not keep hold of players who already knew the

club and seemed to enjoy it rather than taking a punt on players like

Hughes, Thorne etc. Not saying we would have certainly been doing

better had those players remained at the club, but I think you''d agree

that we''d probably be doing a fair bit better.

And my comment about Holt, no he wouldn''t have been any good just like

Fleming hasn''t been anygood. I mentioned him because I think he would

have been capable of coming in and doing a steady job when we needed

him. At least we knew what he could and couldn''t do, unlike Jarrett who

seems incapable of anything.

Thats not quite fair Jas.  I''m sure you know my veiws on Worthy but lets not start blaming him for something he had little control over.  Svensson had one year left on his contract and we had not offered him an extension but for me Svensson would still have left even if we had offered him another deal.  He wanted to go back to Sweden and I don''t think he fancied the idea of playing in the Championship this year.  He had a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave for £50k should we be relegated and he invoked it.

I liked Svensson but lets not make him out to be some of kind of Saint, he could have stayed had he wanted to.

I would really like us to try and get Earnshaw.  Not getting a game at West Brom whom already have Kamara, Campbell, Kanu, Ellington and Horsfield.  I''d like a big, strong player to play alongside him too (someone in the Iwan mould)

Somone like Ashton, perhaps, DumleDelia???  The poor guy''s been starved of service this season and has, too often, bring roaming the wing just trying to make something happen. It''ll be heart-breaking if he leaves - he is success waiting to happen, but no-one can do it alone.

Here''s hoping he confounds us all and stays.  [:^)]

It wasn''t exactly the "I''m staying and dedicated to Norwich" that I was hoping for!!!

Just saw this on the Man City Pages of 606. It seems they don''t rate our Deano!!

"I read that we are interested in Ashton and we will be £7 million. Are we mad ?? The lad had ½ a good season in the Prem and has been a wash out in the CCC Champ. We should be offering £2 - 3 million at the most and poss a player. We surely won''t blow a big %age of our transfer pot on a 50/50 chance ?"

They obviously don''t remember the goal he scored aggainst them at Carrow Road.  To be honest it was such a long time ago and the game finished so badly it''s slipping from my memory. I think all most people remember about that match is a drunken speach by a certain TV cook at half time!!!

You''re exactly right Oso.  He has been given no service all season.  An Ashton/Earnshaw partnership would be a dream for me.  Unfortunately thanks to Worthington''s "come and get him speech" and what Deano has said in the last few days, I think it''s very unlikely he''ll be a Norwich player on 1st February

Ashton is not a target man who can hold the ball up, that was Iwan Roberts.

Yes he is big and strong, he is brave too but he needs to be more abrasive.

Worthington likes his target men. Perhaps he thought he was getting that with Ashton, well he was wrong. The man cannot jump with his back to goal and he gets bullied. he is also too quiet and reserved.

If he goes I would like to see a quality target man if we insist on playing that way. Someone like Horsfield who is an animal as well as being our nemesis.
