A Load of Squit

Lies, Damm Lies & Statistics

Or as the WO''s keep saying ''listen to me, I speak for the majority''. If so many people want Worthy to go how come its the same 5 or 6 posters on this board calling for the man to be sacked?

They must have very sore fingers ''influencing'' the current polls!

see my other post about a potential silent majority... interesting to note that the WO majority has dropped from 80% in the pinkun poll a few weeks back to 54% in the Evening News poll today.

the silent majority simply dont want to get abused on these boards..........

to be fair, there is nothing stopping non-norwich fans voting, hence why many ipswich fans and such have probably voted for him to stay. Besides the poll means nothing, the board (as in the norwich board) are going to do nothing over a poxy little poll

I warned three days ago on here of Ipswich fans voting for Worthy, this was acknowledged by the pink un, so don''t assume the improvement in Worthy''s vote is down to Worthy.............thanks the binners for it, as they would love us to be relegated!

Squit - if you think that it''s just this Board, take a look on the Official Site message board or others such as Wrath of The Barclay. Then come back and tell me that the Worthy Outers are in the minority on message boards.

Maybe some of the KTFs feel they can speak up after that amazing win, either that or the fickle fans are changing their minds

It could be the same 5 or 6 on each board.

But you, of course, only post on here eh Load of Squit? And anyway, why does we all have to be one or the other? "KTF" or "WO"?

If you''re happy and you know it, then you''re either blind, confused or both.

If you think Worthington is the worst manager out there then you''re even more wrong.

I don''t want Nigel continuing to ruin my team with his ill-judged purchases, tactics, youth policies and coaching abilities BUT i don''t want to see Joe Kinnear come here, take a barrel load of cash and bugger off at the end of the season.

It has to be a well thought-out decision, and one in which tight purse-strings do not mean we end up with Livermore or hang on to Nigel until doomsday.

The point is, blind optimism or blind pessimism is still blindness either way you squint at it.

its more than 5-6 people calling for worthy to go. just see the

response to the lead post on this board. what is your problem with

people having an opinion about worthy?

even if city had just won the prem, it would still be legitimate for a

poster to have an opinion on the manager, even if they wanted him out -

but of course that would be unlikely.

In city''s current position, its logical that more people will question

the manager, and even call for him to go -  we''re 7 points off

relegation zone.

Err you really don''t get it do you. If you think it''s just "5 or 6" then you are sadly mistaken. Try adding a few zeros.

The "WO brigade" is not shrinking at all. It will grow too - as soon as many discover we have not "turned the corner" having beaten the mighty Crewe, and it will just make the KTF mob look even more ridiculous.

can''t see where you coming from squit.

all i see is people giving opinions. it''s you who is trying to convince

people that the ''facts'' re opinion polls are wrong and that somehow the

people posting for worthy to be replaced are in a small minority. and

yet you call others delusional.

If we''re talking about statistics then take a quick look at this site

http://www.footballanorak.com/team_performance.html?team_id=57

Ignore the fact they''ve got the season wrong 03/04 rather than 04/05

but that shows the last 60 matches. This isn''t someone''s opinion this

is the hard facts that over the last 60 matches we have been hopeless

and no matter what way you look at it, the manager has been the main

reason for such a poor run. A win over Crewe doesn''t change anything

I''m afraid other than takes us 3 points further away from League One.

I''d be happier with the stats if they had a significant number of people voting.

The real problem is that an absolute maximum of about 10% of Norwich

fans have made the effort to make their feelings known (that''s

combining both for and against Worthy). Not even the

Conservatives/Labour would try and claim an electoral mandate on that

low a turn-out!

If the Board wants feedback, they could mailshot every single

member of the club (they send enough guff out each year) with a

reply-paid envelope and a simple questionaire. That way anybody who''s

taken the trouble to pay for membership gets an equal voice. I know

some loyal supporters aren''t members, but it would give a very good

representation of the real feelings of those who care most about our club.

Regardless of best intentions, supporters clubs and message board

communities are often populated by the most active/vociferous members

of the wider community and do not always give a balanced view (that

swings both ways, not just in Worthy''s defence!).

Squit has a point, which is exaggerated to make people take notice

(sorry if I''m doing you a disservice), The majority in the polls also

have a good point, just insufficient actual numbers to make it count

yet. Let''s cut through the crap and find out once and for all if the

manager is as loathed as some claim.

I bet the majority of fans are fickle and ambivalent.

These message board contain those of us who like our own opinions and want to foist them on others, we are in the minority.

The Club has a board of directors and a management structure who make the decisions. Of course they listen to views and opinions but in the end they are there to make the decisions and take responsibility for those decisions.

Most opinion polls on national stats are accurate to +/- 3% from a sample of 1000-1500 people from a population of 55m+ - so 3000+ votes from a population of 26k to 100k is strikingly relevant from a statistical point of view.   The poll give an indicative insight to fans opinions but is only indicative, not fact.

Giving everyone a chance for a say is a referendum, not an opinion poll and simply will never happen but the result will be in favour of the worthy out camp based on the findings of these polls and all fans that I know who have been to a match this year  - small irrelevant sample perhaps but at the start of the year I was alone in having concerns but am now one of the less rabid voices within the same cohort....

The difference with national polls is the random nature of the

selection process of those asked. The other main difference is the

loading of the question put to the sample group.

If the newspaper polls came from a random phone survey of 3000 or so

people in the Norwich/Norfolk area then they could claim the same sort

of validity. Inviting those with strong views to proactively register

their views gives a skewed and heavily biased response. Yes, Worthy

supporters had an equal chance to vote - but they''re not the ones

getting all hot under the collar about the managerial team.

If only 2000-2500 feel strongly enough to register their opposition to

the current regime, then you are on safer ground (as a statistician) to

talk actual numbers & not percentages.

Its funny fat barman, that i just met a NCFC fan working behind the bar in my local - season ticket holder - and he is worthy out. All my mates i text about the footy are worthy out..  My fellow season ticket holders whom i go to the match with our worthy out.  And my ipswich town fan friends..  lol well you no what they want!!!

Worthy has somehow destroyed a good squad he built in the space of 2 seasons and x amount of premiership dollars.  The teams that do best are those who have a similar squad as to when they were promoted then relegated..  We have a totally different one with all the players who have left being replaced by far lesser players.

Our midfield is now crap.  All worthys flaws are coming to the fore - and worst of all he appears to have no idea what to do....

As he aint gonna be sacked till after xmas at least I hope he can turn it round (but i seriously doubt it with this group of players) And if ashton goes...  i dunno what to think  Lee Trundle perhaps - loads of talent but a few too many pounds on the lad  i doubt worthy would risk it

I reckon it will be....... Jonaton Johannson!!!!!  lol

a good ''local'' is like your football club - you can''t leave it alone!

I may be deluded, or have better beer goggles, but I don''t see it that

black Paul. Apart from a couple (Eddy being notable), the players who

left went by choice, not design. The replacements have yet to prove

their worth, agreed, but I have a reasonable hope that they will.

Here''s to Christmas beer & football cheer! Our change in form by 12th night may yet prove to be a miraculous rebirth!

Yeah hopefully christmas will bring a turnaround.  perhaps worthy will have a moment of clarity and finally see that a right winger and creative midfielder could be useful to the club!!!

I reckon thats all we are missing - its a shame we will be missing a star striker too in a few weeks.

Lee Trundle - the fat new Ashton!!!
