In defence of Stiepermann

Chalobah is a lower league WUM. Gets his opportunity in 6 months time.

Nah, he'll be back at Chelsea within 2 hours of the final whistle after their last game of the season.

Was their best player yesterday. Might do well in a better team.

The Premiership and Championship are full of players that shout, scream and go down at the slightest opportunity. It is unfortunately one of the worst traits off the modern game.I don't think the referees help either.A card for simulation,a quiet word with the player and captain could help to stamp out so much of this unsporting behaviour.

Man up you lot.... he's got no excuses, his theatrics were embarrassing again.    The game may be full of screamers and cheats, but that doesn't make it acceptable.      Condoning it as some of you are is just plain wrong, we're above that.     To paraphrase Farke, win or lose with a bit of class!

It has always been the case that footballers stand on each others feet because at the end of the day it is an inevitable consequence of trying to win the ball by tackling.

Most of the time it is accidental but occasionally players do it on purpose.

Sometimes it can be seen as a foul but sometimes it isn't a foul, merely a coming together of feet.

Most of the time it doesn't hurt but sometimes it does, particularly when it's been done on purpose.

When it isn't a foul, isn't done on purpose and doesn't hurt there is absolutely no reason for screaming out load, falling over or rolling around.

That was the case yesterday and the is NO defence for Stiepermann's actions.

Have you actually watched the incident?  It was totally intentional.

I don't see much acceptance or even condoning of his theatrics on this thread but I do see plenty of us pointing out that it is a symptom of other problems in the game which have gone unaddressed for many years now.

People need to look at a replay - the ipswich player walked past him and stood on his foot.

Intentional perhaps, accident maybe but yes I've seen it in in your words "he stood on his foot". Well well I never it was hardly what you would call life threatening.

The way he went down you would have thought it was a jump or a stamp. But no, he stood on his foot.

Funny how Stiepermann got up and ran away without a flinch after this outrageous act of having his foot stood on.

Realistically he was having a bad day all round, things weren't going great for him, he messed up an easy goal chance, he got the hump and started diving and fouling, eventually ending up with a yellow card for a cynical chop down.

Which by the way was a lot worse standing on someone's foot.
