Hucks6 186 Posted February 7, 2019 Tottenham thinking about bid for him if Erickson leaves according to daily mirror
Fiery Zac 1,066 Posted February 7, 2019 Thought that was going to be the move for him from city but he definitely made the right one going to Leicester. He quickly and emphatically showed that he is PL quality and whatever his next move, will be to a big club. A very clever lad with the moves he’s made combined with some good timing. Simply wanting to play football early on but getting noticed, a breakthrough season with us (our transition certainly helped him shine through the mediocrity last season) and a good move to a PL club that he was straight into the starting 11 of. Sessegnon was the player of the championship last season (supposedly) but it’s Maddison who’s gone from strength to strength.
Chip20 69 Posted February 7, 2019 I'm pleased for the lad and hope he gets picked up by a top club soon with full England call-ups to follow. I also hope we have a mahoosive sell-on clause with Leicester.
Mello Yello 2,572 Posted February 7, 2019 I do wish young Madders future success and a plethora of international caps.....to boot :-)
BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted February 7, 2019 (edited) " I also hope we have a mahoosive sell-on clause with Leicester."+ I would expect so. Much lesser/influential (PL) players are now going for stupid amounts and Webber is no fool. Actually I'm trying to make up my mind if we are luckier to have Webber at Carrow Road than even having Tim Krul. (Having just seen yet another stupid Krul bash on this forum ... but let's not go through all that nonsense again.) Vazzza 62 Posted February 7, 2019 I thought the deal for Maddison was pretty much all up-front, surely that would suggest there isn't a sell-on clause?
Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,424 Posted February 7, 2019 I guess there will be a sell on, but whether it is % of total deal or % of profit is the real question. Will be hard for anyone to get Maddison out of Leicester for a while - he’s on a long deal and Leicester are under no pressure to sell. Doubt Tottenham will want to spend the £50m+ that will be his price tag.
AJ 1,359 Posted February 7, 2019 Would probably be the best club from the top lot to go to for him, if it was a cafe of Eriksen leaving. Either way I wish to see him continue to do well!
crispeduk 282 Posted February 7, 2019 Having cash up front rather than instalments I’m sure all would agree was our greatest need last summer. This probably suppressed the headline price tag, yet surely that doesn’t rule out a sell-on cut, which also may have been suppressed, but not ruled out, by the up-front element. As others have noted our Mr Webber is a smart operator, he doubtless measured our immediate needs in bargaining, but can be expected to have weighed these against potential future benefits and struck a balance in the deal with a decent wedge coming our way for any onward move by Madders, just as there was for Coventry. Compromises are part of any serious negotiation but so too is not surrendering your position. I’m just glad I’m never going to face him across a negotiating table.
