The Murderers WAS my favourite pub............

Recommended Posts

I believe this has been common knowledge for some time. It has (if my memory is correct) featured before in the local press.

However, it's a good pub and very popular, even on match days.

Disfunctional family!🙃 I shan't be buying my half of shandy there anymore.

If the unthinkable were to happen and dad took three points the gap would still be 36 points so what really constitutes bragging rights...

It could be worse the landlord of The White Lion in Oak Street is a Scum season ticket holder.

I actually prefer the Gardeners Arms....... 😉 .......

I suppose it depends on which direction you come from to get in the front door.

Is you’re favourite pub Lollards Pit opening early for the game?

I heard that this place was getting taken over?

I've always thought that it's a weird little boozer! Now I know why

Familiar situation- my dad was initially an Ipswich fan but I 'went my own way' so to speak.

Do like the Murders though.

I just happened to call in there with 'Er Indoors on Christmas Eve as we were walking home after a couple of drinks in the city. I had not set foot in the place for a good ten years and we bumped into someone we know who told us that the landlord was a Scum season ticket holder. Mind you by this time i had put money in his till.

Made the mistake once- never again. I'm honestly not sure it is still open.

Was saddened to hear my old local the Garden House is no more.

I think it is kc and as for The Garden House not surprised as the company that own it are part of Enterprise Inns.

Enterprise Inns are an horrendous bunch of money grubbing cowboys!

The Garden House was once a great pub. But I'm afraid it has been entirely wasted for the past, probably, 10 years! I used to go in there a fair bit when in my early/mid twenties... about that long ago! It is part of EI under their 'Craft Union' monicker, I believe. They will apparently be opening it again soon, but expect it to be closed AGAIN within about a year as the new victims...ahem... sorry...landlords start to realise that it simply isn't sustainable under the EI rules and restrictions they have to adhere to.

Re: the Murderers/Gardeners Arms - Phil's a great landlord and massively influential to the pub trade in Norwich. Like many though, I can't believe how he's kept his football allegiances hidden for 30 years!

He was talking about the Garden House... Unthank way!

Been drinking in the Garden House since the early noughties – was always a great pub. The former landlord Oscar used to sponsor our veterans team – EI pulled the plug on him without warning about a week after we'd had our shirts printed with 'Garden House' on the front. Absolute arseh0les.

I used to live on Denbigh Road in 2009/10 and it was still a decent pub at that point. Bit spoiled for choice around the Golden Triangle though.

Yep back then perhaps! But now, NR3 really is the place to be! We have The Brewery Tap, The Stanley, The Artichoke, Duke of Wellington...list goes on!

GT gone way downhill for pubs now, in my opinion.

What is the best 'pre-match' pub these days? Ie one within easy walking distance of the ground. I used to go the Horse and Dray near John Lewis car park but not sure it is still open.
