*****Official Match thread v Brentford*****

Very surprised unchanged. Expected at least Hanley in and maybe Cantwell subbed.

Oh well, Farke knows best (I hope!)

It wouldn't have been my choice but then I'm not the manager.

Foolish or genius, we will soon find out.

What madness lies ahead today??

Get this game done, unscathed, and some of the lads can have break for a week and a bit.

I think playing both Cantwell and Hernandez leaves us a little exposed defensively. Brilliant going forward, but don’t offer much protection to the full backs.

I guess Farke is hoping to recreate the first 30 minute performance against Derby.

Personally I’d like to have seen us shore things up a little and played Trybull and Marshal instead of Vrancic and Cantwell.

Not unduly surprised. Farke has picked his strongest creative team from the resorces available for what is pretty much a must win game. Cut out the silly errors, hard work, concentration and better game management essential today.

I understand the desire for changes, but if it was good enough to beat Derby, which it should have been, it should be good enough to beat Brentford.  6-2 to us?

Only it wasn't

I too think Hanley would have been the better option in place of Zimmerman, who looked slow and laboured in the last game.   I would like to see Godfrey in the right back position because he is less attack minded and can therefore cover for Zimmerman's lack of pace.

Also surprised we’re unchanged, appreciate Farke’s hand is forced for the majority of the squad but Trybull, Hanley and Rhodes were surely all in with a shout for a start - even if only to rest a few of the others; cantwell and steipermann looked dead on their feet in that second half. Most of them did!

Honestly expecting a bad result again today unfortunately, glad we’ve got a cup game on the weekend, hope we can give everyone who needs it a good rest - they clearly need it!

I’m confident the results will pick up again after today though, with players’ injuries on the mend and some rest time allowed.

Farke made it clear he wasn't going to rest players because they will have a 10 day break after this game. Plainly he doesn't intend to take the FA Cup too seriously. That is not to say Hanley shouldn't have come in for Zimmermann. A different question.

We didn’t beat Derby though 🙄

Nice stuff being played but Vrancic poor early on

Yeah, Vrancic is out of sorts.  I can remember an accurate pass that he has played yet or he's been easily pushed off the ball.
