Thirsty Lizard 3,155 Posted December 9, 2018 Haven't seen/heard any updates on this. Did Farke give any updates after the match?
Daz Sparks 1,148 Posted December 9, 2018 Yes, he said he everybody at the club is confident that there is no problem. He added that it was a bruised knee, and that the bruise must have affected a nerve, a scan in the week was good and that there was no need for concern. SwindonCanary 455 Posted December 9, 2018 How did he bruise a knee in the warm up ?
Thirsty Lizard 3,155 Posted December 9, 2018 Okay - thanks Daz. Thought Godfrey did very well yesterday considering he's hardly played this season and only came into the starting eleven at very late notice, but there were times when we missed Klose's aerial dominance when Bolton were pumping high balls into our box. He bruised it in training in the week, but right up to naming the team Klose was deemed fit, it was in the warm up he said he couldn't jump or sprint 100%, so Godfrey was thrown in late on. Yep from the highlights that was clearly an issue for both goals, but I guess you can’t expect to have that sort of injury problem without an impact.
lake district canary 4,531 Posted December 9, 2018 Great to see Godfrey get a run out in the league - good for his experience - and coming out on top in what proved a tough match will help him in future matches. We had such a young and relatively inexperienced defence out there yesterday, particularly on the left, there were bound to be one or two issues....but we won the match. Klose is a big deal of a player to not have in the team, especially at the last minute, but we managed it and that can only be good, going forwards. Quality in the squad through and through. city4eva 207 Posted December 9, 2018 he was limping badly when he came on the pitch at the end, maybe had his knee strapped up tho, I assume he would have been advised not to come on the pitch if it was that bad
Branston Pickle 3,634 Posted December 9, 2018 Our back 4 without Klose was pretty short on experience, with fewer than 100 Champs starts between them and an average age of a little over 20. They did wobble a bit under the high balls up to an experienced front line, so it will have been a good lesson for them!
Essjayess 307 Posted December 9, 2018 When you think we've had the likes of McClean, Thompson, Hanley etc, out for the majority of the season, joined in last few weeks by Leitner then Klose yesterday, makes one appreciate that, thank goodness, we have a squad of decent depth and, more importantly, of confidence, momentum and togetherness, enough to keep winning. Happily, looks like Klose doesnt have a serious injury and with Hanley just about fully fit now also, we should be ok defensively.
CANARYKING 634 Posted December 9, 2018 Does Hanley come in on Sat if Klose is out again
Branston Pickle 3,634 Posted December 9, 2018 I'd think so - Godfrey didn't do a lot wrong but think we'd need to go with the experience if we can
lake district canary 4,531 Posted December 9, 2018 Think Hanley prefers the right side and I'm not sure Zimmermann is good on the left side, so it may be Godfrey keeps his place alongside Zimmermann if Klose isn't ready.
clever trevor 16 Posted December 9, 2018 We couldn’t possibly have had as many injuries as Leeds have or we would have to put inexperienced youngsters in the team.Oh hold on perhaps the pundits forgot to look at how we are coping without lots of our injured players.😉

Presumably we weren't allowed to swap Hanley for him on the bench after the team sheet had been handed in.
Thirsty Lizard 3,155 Posted December 14, 2018 Still out tomorrow and looks as though Hanley may still be missing too. Going to make it tough.
lake district canary 4,531 Posted December 14, 2018 Good opportunity for Godfrey to stake a claim and get some valuable experience. Won't be easy at Brizzle, but he has the calibre to do well. 👍

splendidrush 699 Posted December 15, 2018 Good luck to the Boy, we're going to need quality backup next season anyway, regardless of what Division we're in, better to start now.
Hairy Canary 668 Posted December 15, 2018 Got confidence in Zimmerman and Godfrey and think they will form a good partnership the more they play together but we really would struggle if we lost one of them with Christmas coming up. Hopefully this will be the last game down to two fit centre halves.
