Winning 25 24 Posted December 9, 2018 (edited) 1. Wolverhampton Wanderers 21 48 2 Cardiff 21 44 3 Bristol City 21 40 4 Derby 21 38 5 Aston Villa 21 37 6 Sheffield United 21 37 7 Leeds 21 33 8 Middlesbrough 21 32 9 Ipswich 21 32 10 Preston 21 32 11 Nottingham Forest 21 30 12 Fulham 21 29 13 Brentford 21 27 14 Reading 21 27 15 Sheffield Wednesday 21 27 16 Norwich 21 27 17 Millwall 21 23 Bristol City had 40 points at this stage of last season (21 games).... Only managed 27 more points from the remaining 25 fixtures to finish on 67 and 8 points outside the playoffs. Fulham on the other hand came out of nowhere!! If Norwich have the same form for the remainder of the season as they did for final 25 games of last, and pick up the same points, they will finish on 76 points!! cornish sam 922 Posted December 9, 2018 For all of the talk of no one running away with the league like last year, the gap between 1st and 3rd is only 2 points different and there is actually more of a gap 2nd to 3rd. Say it quietly but Leeds and ourselves are starting to pull away a bit...
Capt. Pants 4,092 Posted December 9, 2018 A long way to go and far too close to call. At this stage last season Wolves had an 8 point gap over 3rd, we have six. Similarly there was a 16 points gap between top and 8th. That same points gap this season takes you down to Wigan in 16th. So tight this year with any one team capable of beating another. nutty nigel 7,352 Posted December 9, 2018 21 games seems a significant number for some reason....
wooster 134 Posted December 9, 2018 Just out of interest, and yes I'd like to assess the position as the season progresses, are there websites where one can see in past Championship seasons what the position was at various levels of games played?

Hairy Canary 628 Posted December 10, 2018 Quest TV mentioned on Saturday that the team leading the table after 21 games have gone on to automatic promotion in each of the last ten years. Don't want to count chickens but nice stat!
Mutley 56 Posted December 10, 2018 Slightly concerning seeing Bristol City up there after 21 games last season and how they faded away - but they were distracted by the league cup I seem to think.
