Who else is an NFL fan in here?

I'm a big Redskins fan - currently 6-3 atop the NFC  East. Have to say, we're probably the worst team to be leading a division but all I know is misery and mediocrity in my Redskins fandom so I'm happily enjoying the whole winning games novelty, even if we are winning ugly every week.

Anyone see past Saints/Rams for Superbowl?

I don't follow it to closely to know who the good teams are except the Patriots who defy the system to remain competitive every year and being a Dophins fan it makes getting divisional title all the more difficult. You reckon the Redskins will ever change their name?

Not with Snyder as the owner.

I don't have a problem with changing it, but not sure how much of the debate is real and how much is media led witch hunting. If people are genuinely offended then it should be changed imo.

Not read into the debate much, but I know dressing up as a native indian at halloween is taboo over there so probably the name is not used much. Its the fashion now to right the wrongs of the past with todays values, but yeah if it offends consider changing it.

I follow the 49ers. They were the first team I saw in the mid 80's and I have watched them go from the highest high to the lowest low. Just like this season. They played the worst team, Raiders, last week and beat them and have another weak team, Giants tonight so hopefully they can improve on two wins.

In my family we have a spilt between the 49ers (me) - for same reason as you KG, Packers (wife) - 49ers were playing them in a play off and she fancied their QB, and Rams (daughter) - she likes the logo. What we can all agree on is how much we dislike the Patriots.

Patriots v Rams most likely for the Super Bowl this year from what I have seen so far, although the Chiefs and Chargers could both challenge the Patriots, Saints and Bears the most likely to challenge the Rams. Chargers v Rams or Chiefs v Bears would be fun...

Redskins still atop the division and on the receiving end of some atrocious refereeing preventing us putting at least one or two more wins on the board.

Alex Smith went down with a horrific leg injury on Sunday though - broke two bones and had bone sticking through the skin. We're rolling with Colt McCoy at QB for the rest of the season so it's going to be very interesting as to how far we can actually go. Big bellweather tomorrow - away at Dallas on Thanksgiving. Win that one and we're pretty well set for the playoffs.

49ers still looking terrible. Missing Garropollo on offense. Shanahan keeping faith with Mullens isn't working out and the DF is spending far too long on the field.

I've followed the Packers since American football was first featured on TV back in the 1980's, plus I have cousins in Wisconsin.

Some decent early results but keep getting on the wrong end of close results recently. Key injuries haven't helped. Chances of the playoffs are drifting away unless they can put together some consistent results. Rodgers needs to start producing some of the old magic.

The number of injuries we have had this year has been astonishing, even knowing that it's a brutal sport. re Mullins: he was the practice squad QB for a reason; but as hopeless as his last two starts have been, at least his first game was stellar, so maybe there is some upside there. Regarding Beathard he's had his chance: he's proven to be rubbish.

Over 13 appearances (10 starts), Beathard has completed 57.3 percent of his passes for 6.8 YPA and a 12:13 TD:INT while fumbling eight times.

Green Bay is a bit like following Norwich isn't it Ricardo? Yellowish and Green and nice to see they are still community owned.

I remember when Green Bay were rubbish, and the NFC North was all Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions. Then my Dutch wife's first year in the US, she's determined not to support my team, so she says she'd support Green Bay as that's who the SF 49'ers were playing in a home playoff game. Then she notices their QB, Brett Farve, "hey he's cute, is he any good?" (um, yes) and the clincher was the Cheesehead hats - "Cheeseheads / Kaaskop, that's what Dutch people call ourselves" she says.

So she was sold on Green Bay from that date on, I think since then they have won two Super Bowls and reached the playoffs multiple times, and transitioned from Brett Farve as QB to Aaron Rodgers. Meanwhile SF slumped into a 20 year decline transitioning from Joe Montana (great), to Steve Young (really good) to Alex Smith (serviceable, but we could have picked Rodgers instead who was playing just across the Bay at Cal Berkley - so what a screw up that was); except for a couple of seasons under Jim Harbaugh when we reached the NFC Championship game twice and the Super Bowl in successive seasons. Of course management was stupid enough to fire him for not being successful enough, and being a jerk too, however we've been pathetic since except for that 6 game winning streak at the end of last season with Jimmy Garoppolo as QB.

So fingers crossed Rodgers can get GB into a wild card playoff spot Ricardo, but I think those two spots will be filled by the  Seahawks and Redskins.

I have a soft spot for Green Bay and the Steelers as well. They are always there or thereabouts and normally maintain an interest for their fans for most of the regular season if not the play offs. Green Bays' losing season (so far) is unusual for them.

The NFL is much like Hollywood to me. Years ago there were great film stars whereas there are great film actors. I was lucky that the first team I saw was the 49ers as they did create a dynasty during the 80's and 90's. And the stars like Montana, Craig and Rice were matched by players like Marino, Allen, Riggins, Dickerson and even kickers like Morten Anderson etc who were real stand outs.

I think there are still some historically great players around the league - Brady, Rodgers, Adrian Peterson etc. Peyton Manning is only two years out from retirement.

Difference is now, it is much harder to build a dynasty.

It has changed with all the rule changes, but also in the same way football has changed - no longer do you get the players like Riggo who enjoy a boozy night out and then show up the next day for a game and truck people whilst putting up 150 yards.

I would've ended up a Packers fan due to the colours and community ethos but they had won the superbowl the year before I picked my team and I didn't want to glory hunt so I went for the team that had won the superbowl the year I was born, which was the 'Skins. My dad follows Green Bay although less intensely than I follow the Redskins. I like the Pack to do well in a second team kind of way but there's only one allegiance when they roll into FedEx Field.

We have imploded since I started this thread - we are consistent in embarrassing ourselves on nationally televised games and really outdid ourselves with a monumental thanksgiving collapse away in Dallas. Think the division is blown now to be honest - we need to sweep the Eagles to stand any real chance of getting in the playoffs - can't see it happening personally. Think the Cowgirls will win the division now after they somehow shut the Saints Offense down on Thursday night.

Another bad day for the 49ers. No love lost between them and the Seahawks and it is a bit embarrassing to be hammered by them.

We have the Eagles tonight on Monday night football. Bound to get a kicking, as usual on national tv games.

re Redskins -

Poor old Colt McCoy. I know that great College QB's don't often go on to be great NFL QB's but that guy's luck is unbelievable.

University of Texas v Alabama National Title game - dislocated shoulder. Texas narrowly lose. His senior year so he's done.

Cleveland - oh dear talk about a getting a short straw - no offensive line, and they let him play with concussions

Redskins, backup to Smith who breaks his leg, and now two games in, McCoy breaks his too.

Yeah, it's totally brutal for Colt. The Skins are screwed now. Mark Sanchez as starting QB (after signing two weeks ago) and a backup that has only just signed, and made a total of 5 starts in a TEN YEAR career.

I'm furious we didn't pick up Kaepernick, despite the media circus that would cause. Far better QB than either of the two scrubs we now have.

Alex Smith has apparently had issues with infection as the bone pierced the skin. His career now in doubt.

Horrible situation.

Woohoo. Dolphins beat the Patriots 34:33 with a touchdown at the death.

Very inventive. I do not know others don't do it more often.

49ers beat the Broncos so that they avoid the NFL wooden spoon for now. They cannot win on the road but luckily only have one trip left. Must finish with a better record than the Raiders.

49ers win with the play of the weekend. 90+ yard return. Not the worst team anymore.

Some strange results but I guess a few are getting nervous.

Yup fixed that bad taste in the mouth didn't we?     🦅   That was 9 games on the trot the Seahawks had won.

Chiefs and Rams looking vulnerable all of a sudden, Seahawks v Chiefs will be a tasty game for sure ...

Saints and Bears are both looking really good... 49ers may have a chance to ruin the Rams season, if they can beat them the Rams will probably be seeded to play the Bears in freezing Chicago. ❄️☃️ That said the 49ers play Chicago next, so could scuttle that.

As an Eagles fan the Skins collapse has helped us. Pretty excited for tonights 6pm KO's as a lot riding on them for Philly.

Eurgh. Scummiest fans in the NFL - no class whatsoever. What on earth made you choose to support them? They're way worse than Dallas fans and that says a lot! Absolute bunch of b3ll3nds. https://www.barstoolsports.com/newyork/eagles-fans-are-raining-full-cans-of-beer-on-vikings-fans-at-todays-tailgate for example.

Whatever happens tonight, I sincerely hope that somebody other than the Eagles takes that wildcard spot.

The team name thing is half media hype, we both know that. There's plenty of native americans who have publically said they are not remotely offended by it. Personally, I don't really care about the name - if people legitimately find it offensive then I'd be happy to see it changed. There is also a difference between a borderline name, and abusing women, and trying to injure opposing fans just for daring to show up to a game.

Seems like you like teams with classless fans though...

"During a Phillies game in 2010, a 21-year-old fan named Matthew Clemmens and his friend were escorted by security out of their seats for unruly behavior. However, on their way out, Clemmens reportedly "leaned over and put two fingers down his throat" and started vomiting onto an off-duty police officer and his 11-year-old daughter. No further commentary needed. He was later charged with aggravated assault along with a few additional counts."

Abusing women you say...

You won a superbowl last year with two rapists and a woman beater starting... Jesus Christ, think about it a little bit. Reuben Foster has not played a down for the Redskins and won't do so unless he is cleared of the allegations (allegations from a woman who already admitted to making previous false allegations for money incidentally). I have no idea whether RF is guilty or not, but he won't play for the Redskins unless he is cleared so that's kind of a weak argument to make. Especially when you started Jalen Mills, Jordan Hicks and Agholor in the SB.

And ultimately, this is an NFL wide problem - you can find at least one or two Domestic Violence or similar cases on every NFL roster unfortunately. You don't often find a Quarterback who goes dogfighting or a RB who beats women and dogs to within an inch of their life though. Well not outside the Eagles anyway.

Regardless of the actual teams, which we have no control over, you are part of a fanbase that deliberately pukes on children, and throws beer cans at innocent people. Redskins fans don't do that s***.
