TCCANARY 263 Posted April 10, 2018 Had to arrange my Step-Daughters accommodation for university, the tenancy agreement is for 51 weeks, given that the term ends at the end of June, is it fair that she will have to pay for July & August?I think this is a rip off, is there anything that we can do to avoid paying over £1,000.00 for 2 months rent that''s obviously not required? The Engineer 11 Posted April 11, 2018 Morning TC, Unfortunately this is very much the norm for private student lettings. Very frustrating when you''re the student as it seems a complete waste of money, however from the landlords side it''s hard to see that they''d want to go 2-3 months without an income... The Engineer 11 Posted April 11, 2018 One way one of my flatmates got out without paying the full amount was to simply not pay, and the lettings company just kept the deposit - and there was a lot of hassle with this if I remember, and probably technically not legal to just not pay anyway! (Seeming as the tenancy term will be set out in the contract that will have been signed).
