Another really damning book just out is called COLLUSION or How Russia Helped Trump Win The White House. By Luke Harding. Bit of a slog for the first half but then get down to the real nitty gritty. Well worth a read.

The Russians, especialy Putin want the Magnitsky act repealed and it was Browder who managed to get it implimented, and that was what the meeting with Don Dump junior and the russkies was all about. The dream of a great job, a safe home and a better life for their children.Trump is restating here truths which ought to be obvious: that the goal of any government should be to create an environment which fosters jobs, security and prosperity. He’s talking about the tariff barriers and (often illegal) state subsidies in the EU customs union; the currency manipulations and industrial espionage and dumping which are China’s speciality. Why should the U.S. put up with this?Only by insisting on fair and reciprocal trade can we create a system that works not just for the U.S., but for all nations.Stick and carrot: play dirty and the U.S. will punish you; play nicely and the whole world will be a better, more prosperous place.We have dramatically cut taxes to make America competitive. We are eliminating burdensome regulations at a record pace. We are reforming the bureaucracy to make it lean, responsive and accountable and we are insuring our laws are enforced fairly.Possibly the most important moment in Trump’s speech. The political and economic tendency across the West has been towards bigger government, higher taxation and greater regulation – most especially in entities like the European Union, and heartily endorsed by the Social Democrat types who infest Davos. Here Trump is offering the world a different economic and political paradigm: one that will make people richer and freer.Energy is abundant and affordable.This is Trump’s only reference in his entire speech to one of the most controversial (and, of course, correct) decisions of his presidency: to move the U.S. away from the man-made global warming scare narrative and towards the cheap energy policy which is going to give it a massive competitive advantage over those countries  (notably the EU member states) which continue to push renewables. It’s uncharacteristically tactful of him. Then again, as Napoleon said, “Never interrupt your enemy when he is in the process of making a mistake.”My administration is proud to have led historic efforts at the united nations security council and all around the world to unite all civilized nations in our campaign of maximum pressure to de-nuke the Korean peninsula. We continue to call on partners to confront Iran’s support for terrorists and block Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon. We’re also working with allies and partners to destroy jihad it terrorist organizations such as ISIS and very successfully so.Note the emphasis on “allies and partners” here. Yes, U.S. is ready to undertake its traditional responsibilities as world policeman. But others must pull their weight and the U.S. is not going to be in the business of neo-con-style solo adventurism.We must invest in our people. When people are forgotten the world becomes fractured. Only by hearing and responding to the voices of the forgotten can we create a bright future that is truly shared by all. The nation’s greatness is more than the sum of its production and a nation’s greatness is the sum of its citizens, the values, pride, love, devotion and character of the people who call that nation home.Yes. People. You, me, our families, our friends. Real people. Individuals. As in the exact opposite of what Davos Man believes in. Davos Man hates people. He prefers abstracts.Represented in this room are some of the remarkable citizens from all over the worlds. Again, the globalist elite have never cared about “the people, workers, customers” because they’re about top down control, about bureaucracies which suppress individual aspiration and administrations, like the EU, which are anti-democratic by design. Trump is offering the world a choice: one that has not been properly articulated by any Western leader since the era of Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan. The House Intelligence Committee released its classified memo detailing alleged abuse by senior FBI and Justice Department officials on Friday, after the president approved its release.Among the memo’s findings are:    The anti-Trump dossier funded by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee formed an “essential” part of the initial and all three renewal surveillance applications against Trump campaign adviser Carter Page;     The political origins of the dossier were “known to senior DOJ and FBI officials,” but those origins were not included in applications to obtain the warrant;    Also used to justify the surveillance warrants against Page was a news story supposedly corroborating the dossier, that was pushed by the dossier author Christopher Steele himself — yet the FISA application incorrectly says Steele did not provide the information in the article;    Perkins Coie — the law firm for the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee hosted a meeting with Steele, Fusion GPS and media (this revelation makes it harder for the Clinton campaign and the DNC to deny they knew about the dossier, though Clinton and other top DNC officials at that time have denied knowing about it);    Steele was “suspended and then terminated” as an FBI source, after the FBI learned that he made an authorized disclosure of his relationship with the FBI to liberal media magazine Mother Jones, and he lied to the FBI about his previous media contacts with Yahoo! and other outlets;    Steele — although portrayed as a “boy scout” by Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson — had personal bias against candidate Donald Trump, telling senior Justice Department official Bruce Ohr that he was “desperate that Donald Trump not get elected and was passionate about him not being president”;    Ohr’s wife Nellie Ohr assisted with the dossier, but the FBI or the DOJ did not disclose this connection in the application for the FISA warrant, even though Bruce Ohr worked “closely” with Deputy Attorney Generals Sally Yates and then Rod Rosenstein;    At the time that the FBI used the dossier to obtain the spy warrant on Page in October 2016, head of the FBI’s counterintelligence division Bill Priestap had assessed that the corroboration of the dossier was still in its “infancy,” and after Steele was terminated as a source, an FBI unit assessed his reporting as only “minimally corroborated”;    FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe acknowledged to the House Intelligence Committee in December 2017 that no warrant would have been sought without the dossier;    The FISA warrant also mentioned information related to another Trump campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, even though there was no evidence of cooperation or conspiracy between Page and Papadopoulos;    The memo does not state what the information about Papadopoulos was, but said that information was the trigger to the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation on Russian meddling and collusion in late July 2016 (he had told an Australian diplomat at a London bar that a Maltese professor connected to Russia had told him he had dirt on Clinton in the form of emails);    Peter Strzok, the No. 2 at the FBI’s counterintelligence division opened the bureau’s investigation on Russian meddling and collusion (text messages between him and fellow FBI official and lover Lisa Page show that he held an anti-Trump bias).The memo was released without any of the redactions sought by the FBI and the DOJ.
