The Never-President Trump

Recommended Posts

Crazier and crazier.  A report on BBC World Service has quoted a US observer who thinks some of the MAGAs may not vote for anyone who could possibly win.  Without a Speaker the House cannot function, and that's exactly what they want.  They still believe - and/or their constituents do - that the 2020 election was fraudulent, and this is their version of storming the Capitol.

A conservative Democrat Speaker no longer seems an impossibility.

Breaking: 4th vote has just taken place - McCarthy has lost again.

And it gets even better.  Apparently McCarthy is the candidate that Trump himself has supported.  Either the MAGAs think he's sold out, or their attention span is so minimal that in his absence from Twitter they've forgotten he exists.

He probably thinks McCarthy might win on the 4th vote and then he can say it was him who sorted it out.

In the fifth vote Hakeem Jeffries, the Democrat nominee got 212 votes to 201 for McCarthy.  Byron Donald, the alternative Republican got 20 and there was one abstention.

And Boebert says Trump should tell McCarthy he won't win. He just endorsed the bloke before the fourth vote.

Even Fox "News" is exhausted by this BS. Still, they should be the last to complain about it.

Watch Hannity and Boebert

Whoever becomes Speaker will be the mayor of Crazytown. Donald Trump will continue to throw his weight around, But this is a remarkable moment. As Jonathan said, the one thing that Donald Trump fears the most is to be considered a loser. That label is sticking to him. He also fears being irrelevant, and that was really on display yesterday.

Apparently the fat orange one has demanded a recount, and begun a "stop the steal" campaign.

But his little joke appeals to the inbreds.

Read this and see why it appeals to the legion of idiots.

So McCarthy sells out and gets the nod. He will be the weakest Speaker in history.

And Trump will no doubt tell the world his diplomacy was the ties breaker.

I suspect by far the happiest guys in the house will be the Democrats. They get to sit back and watch as the GOP demonstrates over the next two years why they are completely unfit to govern come the next presidential election. If ever there was a pyrrhic victory it is McCarthy's drastic sell out for a brief moment of glory.

It was nice to see one of them ready to throttle Gaetz. Probably hid behind Boebert. "You wouldn't hit a woman with glasses would you?"

Nah! Boebert would be way too old for him.

Looking forward to the many lawsuits and investigations for fraud that Trump is facing. Not the least of which concerns how Trump persistently channelled taxpayer's money into his own businesses by holding government conferences and forcing staff to stay at his hotels, charged to the nation at inflated prices.  (https://www.forbes.com/sites/danielcassady/2020/09/17/trump-organization-reportedly-charged-us-government-over-11-million-for-luxury-hotel-stays/?sh=5ae3ea2a5541). I guess you don't need to take the presidential salary when you can make a hell of a lot more fleecing the US taxpayer with such a fraud. Then of course there were the multi-millions Trump was able to pump into his hotels from special interest groups who believed staying at the president's hotels would see them garner favours from the orange one (https://therealdeal.com/2020/10/10/how-trumps-hotels-and-resorts-raked-in-millions-from-special-interest-groups/

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2021/10/08/trump-hotel-millions-foreign-governments/

https://www.forbes.com/sites/joewalsh/2020/10/27/report-us-government-paid-over-25-million-to-trumps-businesses/?sh=74218c941a62

And just to correct you, he didn't "sign over" his businesses. Just like every president before him his business interests were held in trust for the duration of his term of office. He remained the owner, and as many articles have claimed (including many more than the ones I have linked) certainly benefited financially from that ownership by exploiting his position as president.

As you rightly say, always a good idea to do a bit of research before you open your trap.

Also a good idea to check your insults, especially when you think you're clever enough to resort to Latin to make them. Best not to confuse Equus Caballus with a Tabanidae, you'll find the saddle wouldn't fit.

Give us a shout if and when he actually gets prosecuted 😜

It is being reported that in Brazil thousands of supporters of ex-President Bolsonaro have stormed the Congress building.

I wonder where that idea came from?

Steve Bannon and others involved in the January 6, 2021 attack on Congress lauded supporters of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro as they stormed government buildings in their capital on Sunday. The cheerleading showed that far-right supporters of Donald Trump’s Big Lie are not merely unrepentant but eager to continue exporting their opposition to democratic norms.

“Brazilian Freedom Fighters,” Bannon, wrote Sunday on the right-wing social media app Gettr. His comment follows months of vocal support on his War Room podcast for Bolsonaro supporters who have camped out in Brazil to protest his defeat in October’s elections. Bannon has said that he is directly advising the former president’s son, Brazilian congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro. The younger Bolsonaro has touted Bannon’s calls for his father, who is reportedly now in Florida, not to accept defeat.

Interesting that he likes to incite others into insurrection but doesn't ever quite make it to the event himself. A typical right-wing coward.

Trump told the world  yesterday that Biden encouraged Putin to invade Ukraine. It wouldn't have happened if he was POTUS of course.

Then he said that Ashley Babbitt, one of those he encouraged to storm the Capitol, was innocent and murdered by a nutcase policeman. And then that her mother had been arrested for protesting at the result of the inquiry. Actually she arrested for ignoring the police who repeatedly asked her to walk on the pavement because it was endangering her and traffic by walking up the middle of the road.
