Johnson is just a "diddy Donald" with a similar "diddy Donald" history of lying, deception, and moral degeneracy. When traditional right-wing thinkers of the likes of Max Hastings and Peter Oborne describe him as "totally unfit to govern" they merely echo what many of the same timbre in the US said of Trump. Yet there he is in power at the head of a party that putatively stands for traditional conservative values, just like Trump and the GOP. And just like the GOP and Trump the Conservative Party found it possible to ignore its traditional values to embrace a populist rhetoric that promised power without any moral scruple or integrity.
