The Never-President Trump

Biden about to make a statement.

Biden to make statement

Biden has just taken the stage for a speech in Delaware that advisors have characterised as "an update" on the race.

He's not expected to declare victory, as votes are still being counted and he has not hit the necessary 270 electoral colleges votes.

It was a cute speech. He got in some digs at Trump without once mentioning him, stressed it was the people's election and should not be taken away from them, and used figures from the 2016 election to show that his margins in Michigan and Wisconsin  are similar to those Trump had.

Didn’t realise as I haven’t overly followed it by ITV are saying that he is objecting to postal votes, but did a postal vote himself.

They are also saying in Pennsylvania 78 % of the mailed vote are democratic.

Almost there ... just needs the 6 EC votes from Nevada now. And then he can move on to Pennsylvania and Georgia for the 300+ EC vote count, not just the bare minimum of 270.

President Biden looks like he is, just that. Trump looks like what he is. Offering up a prayer of thanks.

Don’t know if it’s true but itv saying he can stand again in 2024 as you can still do a 2nd term.

And once Biden is sworn in we'll have the added benefit of his Vice President having been the Attorney General of California, i.e. head of the largest law enforcement organization outside of Washington DC itself. We currently have a radio host pretending to be a family values Christian, which would be fine if he really was a family values oriented Christian and not a hypocrite....

Good days are ahead, still 10 weeks to go until Trump is formally replaced, but I think his power will drain away fairly quickly once it sinks in he's lost and the Trump brand has been destroyed.

You beat me to it Herman. No, you are disqualified from running for office if you are a convicted felon. And if he accepts a pardon, that requires admitting guilt. So he won't risk running again if he can take a pardon and slink off into the sunset.

Besides there is a going to be a full investigation into the Russia scandal now, so there is an awful lot of information that Trump and AG Barr were able to suppress that will come to light... and that may also be very embarrassing data for some senior Republican members of Congress who are feeling pretty good about the election and how they can block the agenda of a future President Biden tonight.

🕵️‍♂️

I knew you would say something true eventually Jools. It explains why he’s desperate to get a Republican hack judge to intervene to stop the normal process that has worked for 250 years.

Although it was a pretty lame meme that @Jools couldn't even bring himself to add any kind of commentary. Pretty clear the margin of victory for Sleepy Joe is likely to be more than large enough, slim though it might be, that any irregularities did not impact the result. As such any legal action is unlikely to be successful and the Republicans know it. Power and influence will begin to ebb away from here.

As ever, what is surmised without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence. Until he provides actual evidence of fraud, then the only sensible conclusion is that these are the rantings of a beaten man.

Already seen one meme about Wisconsin where someone said there were more votes than voters, but it turned out the figure they used for registered voters was from the 2018 mid-terms and not the 2020 elections.

Joke of the morning so far.

Trump's twitter feed has more warnings than a pack of cigarettes.

This morning's presidential update - stop the count !

( It's not the smartest move either as if the count is stopped now, Biden — who is ahead in Arizona and Nevada — would have the 270 electoral votes he needs to win the presidency. )

Facebook removes group calling for 'civil war' over election

Marianna Spring

Specialist disinformation and social media reporter

A huge viral Facebook group spreading unsubstantiated claims that there is a Democratic party plot to “steal” the election has been removed by the social media firm.

Among the comments inside the group were threats of violence and calls for civil war and revolution.

A Facebook spokesperson says it took action because of “worrying calls for violence” in the group “which was creating real-world events".

“Stop the Steal” was set up yesterday had more than 330,000 members before it was taken down. Posts called for its members to take to the streets in the event that Joe Biden is declared the next US president.

Dozens of comments went much further and encouraged people to take up arms or even shoot their political opponents. Some threatened rioting and looting.

The group taken down by Facebook was the by far the largest of a handful of “Stop the Steal” forums set up since election day. On Tuesday, a “#StoptheSteal” label gained a bit of popularity on Twitter, and included baseless and misleading claims of voter fraud and dirty tricks.

Similar claims have been circulating in the Facebook group. The allegations include some of the ones we’ve debunked here.

Facebook says it removed the group “in line with the exceptional measures that we are taking during this period of heightened tension”. It also said the group "was organised around the delegitimisation of the election process”.

Meanwhile ... the USPS leadership are in the dog house with the Courts... looks like their ratfukkng was noticed, and De Joy and his merry men blowing off the Court order to deliver ballots was noticed... big trouble ahead.

Oh. And now the lawyers for USPS say they failed to deliver over 150,000 ballots mailed before the Election Day despite the Court Order mandating them to do so - it “just happened” that the slow down / non delivery is in heavily Democratic cities like Atlanta, Detroit, Charlotte, Philadelphia - all swing states that are still deep into their vote count. The Judge is p!sswd as you might expect .....

Looks like they were getting on fine with the count until someone asked if they wanted bacon and cheese withe the burger. Then they forgot the count number and had to start all over again.

Wonder if Trump will be contesting this vote in the courts

French bulldog elected mayor in Kentucky hamlet

And now, for a bit of levity:

Wilbur, a 6-month-old French bulldog, has a big four years ahead of him. The good boy has just been elected mayor of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky.

According to Wilbur's spokeswoman - that is, owner Amy Noland - this tiny town of fewer than 500 residents has never had a human mayor.

A local man proposed the idea of electing animal mayors in the late 1990s as a fundraising device for the historical society, Noland told NBC News.

There have been five dog mayors of Rabbit Hash since the first, named Goofy.

So far, Noland says that Wilbur has been taking the new job in stride, with "a lot of belly scratches and a lot of ear rubs".
