The Never-President Trump

We did warn them that he was a wrong un. I wonder if Farage and other assorted headbangers are quietly deleting social media posts?

Indeed! I notice our very own "Trumpski" apologist Joolsiani has not shown his face.

Problem is that him and his supporters are so far down the brainwashed rabbithole that they still defend this clown.

One of the guys on a WhatsApp group of mine just said it was Antifa infiltrating and posted some dodgy pic "proving" it. He then went on some rant about Hillary Clinton abducting kids or some ****... I kinda stopped reading his messages 😑

Trump may be out but this is far from over. I honestly fear for western civilisation for the next few years.

"Alyssa Farah, who resigned last month from her post as the White House communications director, tweeted a more direct message at the president’s supporters.

“Dear MAGA- I am one of you. Before I worked for @realDonaldTrump, I worked for @MarkMeadows & @Jim_Jordan & the @freedomcaucus,” she said, establishing her conservative bona fides. “I marched in the 2010 Tea Party rallies. I campaigned w/ Trump & voted for him. But I need you to hear me: the Election was NOT stolen. We lost.”"

It needs EVERY other elected Republican, in the house and the senate, to come out and stand by those words,

The violence is not the real horror, or the real concern.

It is, as in the UK, that so many have been willing to swallow blatant misinformation -and so many have been willing to benefit from such .............................for a considerable period.

Trump, as with other like-minded demagogues, has merely played on that incredulity - one that denies rational argument, evidence and facts.

What causes that 'stupidity' is a much wider debate, but for now, as with post WWI1, these at the forefront if this manipulation need to be removed from further spreading the flames - permanently.

That being to remove their platform (not their life).

I want to stay up and watch what happens in the Senate tonight but have work in the morning. I hope that Cruz etc have reconsidered their intended actions and just quietly let everything go through as normal. Frankenstein’s monster is out of control and it’s time for the GOP to serve their country, not the orange oaf.

The comment that Trump’s plan was to incite violence across the country and then declare martial laws sounds about right - if Trump is actually still in control. IMO VP Pence and President-elect Biden are working together and calling the shots behind the scenes. Trump has his goons and that is it. The National Guard and Military will not follow any of Trump’s orders from here on. Inciting an insurrection and very publicly embarrassing America in the eyes of the whole world has consequences.

And this my friends is where living everyday lying to the people leads. A warning for Boris, his Party and media friends too. It always ends in violence. Now America is strong and will be fine but people will die unfortunately in the fallout of stepping back from this brink. There is no such thing as "post truth politics" that is code for Fascism, and this is what it looks like. I do not know how many of those who took part today will be prosecuted but there are more important people who should face the consequences of their actions that enabled this - Trump and his Cabinet for sure, also Rupert Murdoch and his "journalists", plus a significant portion of the current Republican Party leadership.

It's time to invoke the 25th Amendment. Trump still has enough time to do tremendous damage to the US, and let's not forget he has his finger on the nuclear button.

And the lies continue - despite the video record: just who are they trying to kid, and why?

The Michael Gove one is interesting as I think Rupert Murdoch sat in on their interview.

When he was elected there was some reassurance that the US system had enough checks and balances to keep the president under some form of control, is that actually the case? These nutters pretty much just walked in yesterday, that hasn’t happened by accident.

Not shocked and of course it hasn’t ended yet. That’s the bit that worries me, I must admit I had hoped that the US democratic system would be strong enough to resist this sort of stuff, but it looks like it isn’t.

Obviously it isn't over yet but 4 years of this **** was never likely to fizzle out. 🤨

Confirmed! Biden is officially President Elect. You're out Trump you fu*cking *****hole. Truly the worst president in US history. Those scenes from yesterday will be the enduring memory of 4 years of utterly apalling "leadership". To that degree they are at least scenes that truly reflect the bitterly divisive regime of hatred and incompetence that Trump created.

Watched a lot of this on tv last night - can’t help but feel the right question wasn’t being asked ... ie what is the mental state of this man who is still in power for the next two weeks...? To what extent does he actually believe his narrative of voter fraud (despite no evidence)? or not believe it .?... Either option suggests a man who is not mentally fit to stay another day in power let alone have his fingers on the nuclear button.........

Indeed! They must be very close to invoking the 25th Amendment. I expect Trump's most recent statement that there will be a peaceful transition of power has been forthcoming precisely because he has been warned that the 25th is being readied.

I think that all those checks and balances always assumed that members of the political party would put country before personal interest rather than enable the behaviour of a madman, those assumptions have proven to be totally false in modern US politics. What's startling to me is just how far gone Trump's supporters are. There's no critical thinking, no questioning, they believe with 100% of their being that Trump won the election, that it's been stolen by a socialist, communist, paedophile cabal and that Trump is the one person that's trying to stand against it. I'm honestly not sure how you address this, he's spent the last 4 years legitimising their stupidity and telling them what to think, and we're not talking a small minority here, this is 30-40% of the country's population. The under-funded and unfit-for-purpose American education system, so often a source or ridicule, is suddenly no longer a laughing matter for those of us outside the USA.

Pence looked Presidential in his TV appearance.

I suspect it's now odds on that Pence and the cabinet will enact the 25th - that way they they least control the process and leave office with a shred of respectability.

Unless Pence then pardons the ex president? This was briefly discussed on CNN last night.
