The Never-President Trump

Recommended Posts

I find it sad that people on here are sympathetic towards him. No matter the differences between us in this nation about Brexit and political affiliations, surely they are not that stupid that they think he has done nothing wrong?

The evidence is irrefutable about what  he did. If there are enough stupid people in the US to ignore it then that is up to them. But for people in this site who prattled on about Corbyn as if he was a Hamas trained, KGB agent and despised him, I can only conclude they are either stupid, two faced or Wums.

KG it's not just people on this site though, is it? Corbyn has been soundly rejected by the people of this country. The Red Wall is gone and places like Warrington and Blyth are now Blue. In the aftermath of the election even his own MPs have turned on Corbyn. Are they two-faced as well?

The election clearly shows that the Labour party is now a middle-class protest movement drawing it's support from within the M25 bubble and the university towns. It's no longer the party of the working man, that title now belongs to the conservatives.

Meanwhile... a memo from the White House to the Pentagon instructing them to freeze Ukraine assistance is released - forced by court order, and a document withheld from Congress despite their subpoena.

A memo written a few hours after the Trump and Zelinsky phone call, and that asks for the information to be “ closely held to those who need to know” despite the appropriate law requiring Congress to be notified, which it was not.

So another White House and Republican lie shot down - aid was withheld on specific orders the very day of the call. It’s no wonder the Senate Leader McConnell  wants a trial with no documents or any testimony from White House witnesses the President has blocked from testifying to date.

This behavior is exactly why there are two Articles of Impeachment, one for abuse of power by undermining future elections, and one for obstruction of Congress's oversight.

Think you'll find it's the same core group of people who support Brexit as support Trump.... and yes, they really are that dumb.

I thought that I would wait until the 12th Day of Christmas had elapsed before posting again on this subject, but unfortunately someone may have just started a war.

And here is the first crisis for the UK Prime Minister - a choice of whether to go to war in support of Donald Trump.....

Iranian spokesperson: “The US' act of international terrorism, targeting & assassinating General Soleimani ... is extremely dangerous & a foolish escalation. The US bears responsibility for all consequences of its rogue adventurism.”

US former V.P Joe Biden statement on the killing of Qassem Soleimani : “President Trump just tossed a stick of dynamite into a tinderbox, and he owes the American people an explanation of the strategy and plan to keep safe our troops and embassy personnel, our people and our interests”

As you might gather from that comment the President has not explained what has happened to the American people.

The entire Middle East cr*p is about two powerful regional states fighting for influence. Saudi Arabia (Sunni) and Iran (Shia). Just like the Thirty Years war with (Protestant) northern German states and (Catholic) southern German states. We in the West have picked a "good guy" who is Saudi Arabia, and a "bad guy" who is Iran. Iran sees it's own territory plus Iraq and Syria as the former territory of imperial Persia, who only lost power to Alexander the Great and then again later to the Arabs. The Saudis are proud protectors of Mecca and the Kabba, but also major sponsors of the Wahhabi radical puritan sect that inspired Bin Laden and also ISIS.

So the main point is the West needs stay the hell out of there, or indeed it will be hell on earth for those in the region. Picking sides is stupid, as the President is about to find out. Iraq was a picnic, until it wasn't when Bush's team decided to de-mobilize the Iraqi army (without pay) leading to the insurgency that continues to this day.

And any war with Iran will not be "easy" or "quick". War never is.

As others have said - a foreign crisis/war is sadly a welcome diversion both for Trump (Impeachment) and Iran (economy). It's a perfect storm for everybody else.

If only you libtards were so openly hostile to Obama's ordering the killing of Bin Laden, but no, you were all quiet on that one. Well they're celebating the death of a terrorist on the streets of Baghdad today. That's what happens when you're freed from the oppression of terrorism - if only for a short time. So well done the donald, targetting the psychopath with one well aimed bomb. Certainly beats showering the Iranians with billions of dollars.

Just so we are clear, do you support the assassination of the Iranian terrorist mastermind or not?

If it was a carefully planned and thought through mission that helped secure peace in a delicate and tumultous area of the world then I think most people, although not entirely comfortable, would probably support it.

Was it done like that?

There has clearly been an escalation with attacks on US embassy. I doubt many know the answer to your question, all we can do is speculate.

Blue State Blues: Killing Soleimani a Message of Support to Iranian People

Free-Iran-rally-Getty-640x480.jpg

By Joel B. Pollak  3 Jan 2020

President Donald Trump’s order to take out Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Commander General Qassem Soleimani in Iraq on Thursday is being criticized by Democrats as an “act of war.”

They fail to recognize that Iran has been the aggressor for months, most recently using proxies to attack Americans in Iraq and storm our embassy in Baghdad.

Moreover, Soleimani’s death actually improves the prospects for peace by encouraging the Iranian people to stand up against their rulers.

Recall that in June 2019, President Trump was prepared to attack Iran itself, after the Iranian military downed a U.S. Navy drone in international waters. “We were cocked & loaded,” Trump tweeted, until he asked how many Iranian civilians would die as a result.

When he was told that up to 150 could lose their lives, Trump called off the attack, saying it was not “proportionate,” and adding: “I am in no hurry.”

Iran has continued its provocations since then, firing missiles at Saudi Arabia, a key U.S. ally, in September. The U.S. called that an “act of war,” but did not respond, except by sending more American troops to the region.

Trump also boosted sanctions, and backed protests against the regime, but continued to reach out diplomatically, negotiating for the release of U.S. prisoners and tweeting: “See, we can make a deal together!”

What Trump made clear was that he was open to diplomatic solutions, and would not risk Iranian civilian lives in response to attacks on machines.

Where Iran crossed the line was in using its proxies to attack Americans, killing a civilian contractor and wounding several soldiers in rocket attacks last week. When the U.S. attacked the militias, Iran sent them to march on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad. They also reportedly planned to attack U.S. consulates to kill diplomats.

The U.S. media called the violence Trump’s own “Benghazi,” a reference to the September 2012 attack by terrorists against the U.S. consulate in that Libyan city, which led to the murders of four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

Democrats mocked Trump, saying he was “impotent” against Iran’s attacks and provocations. Iranian dictator Ayatollah Ali Khamenei taunted Trump, tweeting at him Wednesday: “You cannot do anything.”

But Trump had already made clear that he would hold Iran responsible for attacks on Americans and the embassy. “They will pay a very BIG PRICE! This is not a Warning, it is a Threat,” he tweeted on Tuesday, adding jovially: “Happy New Year!”

Thursday’s air strike caught the overconfident Iranians by surprise and managed to shock the entire region. The same Democrats who mocked Trump on Tuesday were suddenly calling for restraint Thursday.

It is ironic to hear Democrats like Ben Rhodes, a former gopher for President Barack Obama, complain about the lack of congressional authorization for the attack, when he defended the unauthorized (and disastrous) Libya War. They are shrieking about the risk of war, while claiming that Trump is not qualified to command U.S. forces.

But Trump has done more than take out Iran’s top terrorist: he has also extended an olive branch to the Iranian people.

Six months ago, Trump called off airstrikes to save Iranian civilians. Now, he has taken out their “most revered” (really: most notorious) general on the battlefield.

The message to the Iranian people was clear: America is not against you, but against your oppressors.

As if to help Trump, Iranian state TV reportedly stopped all programming to broadcast tributes to Soleimani. The Iranian people know: Trump cares more about them than their leaders do.

A tad late - the President is supposed to brief the senior leaders of the House and Senate BEFORE taking any actions.

U.S. senators likely to be briefed on Soleimani operation next week: McConnell https://reut.rs/39wq66R

But Israel was told in advance of the operation. Do you ever wonder which side the President is really on?

If the President had briefed the House before taking action, how long do you think it would take for the Iranians to be informed, given the allegiances of some of the representatives?

You Sir, are being pathetic. The Majority and Minority Leaders of the House and Senate and the two Intelligence committees are American patriots. All of them. There is no Republican v Democrat issue here, despite what supporters of the President may suggest. The powers to declare war lies with Congress; to not brief the leaders of Congress about what he is doing as Commander in Chief is the height of political irresponsibility.

How odd that Democrats are wailing like spoilt children while Iraquis and Iranians are celebrating. Your derangement would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic. At least the Democrats will never be elected to the Presidency
