Herman 11,112 Posted September 11, 2012 Is the winner chosen by the public or by fellow sportsmen? If it''s the first then i don''t think he has much chance.
SHRIMPER 328 Posted September 11, 2012 I would have liked to have seen that other great Scottish sportsman Colin Montgomery win a major, but think its beyond him now.
Herman 11,112 Posted September 11, 2012 I heard Connery going on today and he sounds his age now.At least he and Fergie had something to cheer about this year.
Joanna Grey 0 Posted September 11, 2012
Is the winner chosen by the public or by fellow sportsmen? If it''s the first then i don''t think he has much chance.
The shortlist of ten is chosen by around 30 sports editors of newspapers and magazines then it goes to a public vote on the night. Wiggins and Murray are way out in front in all the polls, if Murray does well in the ATP final expect him to possibly edge it.
Herman 11,112 Posted September 12, 2012 Cheers for that.Left to the general public i can''t see him winning, sadly.Reading the other thread about him,he tends to divide public opinion. Some people really appreciate what he has done, but a lot of others can''t get past the Scottish/English/British thing. Joanna Grey 0 Posted September 12, 2012 Not so sure that the GBP take much notice of the ''personality'' part of it, Steve ''Interesting'' Davis has been in the top three no less than five times. We are a nation of Sports Fans, those who vote on the night will recognise exactly what Murray has done this year. The ATP finals take place in November, if he can pull something off there it would be an injustice if he did not win SPOTY.
