Everything seemed to be blue and white herman. I did not have a filter on my camera. I have a picture of me sitting on a wall overlooking the harbour taken by my wife with her little Cannon Powershot, it came out with the sea just as blue as my shot. Luck I suppose.

I have flown up from Albany the capitol of New York a few times in very small planes into Newark benny. This normally involve a fairly tight turn around the statue during the flight into the airport. Like you say great sight. I took those pictures from a boat that we were out having a meal on. I have family that live in Manhattan.

Yes, as not a great one for heights, I can feel the knees trembling as we write about it, Shrimper.

Naples in parts is absolutely filthy. If you want to see some ladies of the night make your way down to the fish market end of the town, a real eyeopener [;)]. Do not go to far off the beaten track though as it can be a dangerous old town. A good way to see the place is to take one of the open top hop on hop off tour buses.

Knowing benny''s love of height I thought I would show this. 88 floors straight down through a glass floor that I was standing on.[:D]

You will see plenty of this. I took these to prove a point to an Italian friend of mine.

Sadly, I have been told much the same as Shrimper regarding Naples, but a holiday is what you make it, I didn''t go there but Florence, Verona and Rome were spectacular for the history and buildings. Shrimper, where were your previous photos taken, was it Bangkok, I once braved a tuk tuk and was nearly gassed from the petrol fumes, no wonder the traffic police wear masks. The photo of the glass floored building was brilliant, I wouldnt have walked on it but a really good photo, Reminds me of the pathway around the mountain in China which has a glass base, that would really send me round the bend.

Do Pompeii instead if you have the option.

I''m sure it has them, but I couldn''t see any redeeming features in Naples.

Wings of a SparrowI am probably too late for your trip, but Herculaneum is much more interesting. Pompeii is huge and it seems a large proportion is still buried. H is only down the road. Cafes on the way!.Herculaneum seems to have more human atmosphere or a kind of reality that people lived there.Did both in a day out, and I won''t post .jpegs of my exhaustion.Everytime a Mafia block of flats, built after WW2 comes down, they discover a new street. We saw excavations of buildings still full of very old ash on the edge of the site. Happy Holiday.hex

Sorry that was for Bethnal not Sparrow.Capri..... We took a bus from Sorrento and had a great time on the old seafront at the next town south.Comrades on our trip took the Capri option and were bored. They hated the restaurant booked...If all goes well weather wise it seems to be a good time to visit. The bus journey there and back was a bit of a shock for us. But I think we had more fun than the others. hex.

Cheers, thanks for the advice. I had heard some good things about Herculaneum so will definitely try to check it out. I''m only there for a few days so will be a little limited in what I can achieve. If I get good pizza and avoid getting mugged then that will be job done!

Thanks again to everyone who gave some tips. If anyone ever needs advice about travelling Japan I''m sure I can help out.
