smooth 114 Posted September 10, 2011 dull though isn''t it. Reminds me why the english national game has never inspired. I will watch a little domestic rugby union, but I do prefer rugby league hands down, thank god there has been a try in this game.I cannot stand a result where all the points are from penalties following fouls. What a great weekend of sport though. Rugby league, US Open tennis, NFL and the game at 1.30pm tomorrow can''t wait. This is what weekends are made for.

Chelmsford Canary 0 Posted September 10, 2011 I''ve got to admit there are so many things that I would love to see Football take on that Rugby does. I enjoy rugby, and love footy. Football is now played by a bunch of pussies, compared to rugby - I went to the double header at twickenham last week, one bloke was knocked out twice and continued to play...Drogba gets carried off on a stretcher. Yes people will say he gets paid more, but they really put their bodies on the line for the team. It annoys me when I see Nani, Ramieres etc falling over. You get hit by a front row and you will really know about!
Mister Chops 3 Posted September 10, 2011 I had a handicap bet of Argentina + 14 points at evens, so that was nice. We always start Rugby world cup tournaments slowly, we''ll get much better with each game.
crabbycanary 2 Posted September 10, 2011 Smooth - what''s the big(ger) appeal for you with Rugby League?
SwindonCanary 448 Posted September 10, 2011 Really impressed with that Otago Stadium in Dunedin --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vutIf0EQl7IEngland need to improve and keep their heads, scraped a win today.
smooth 114 Posted September 10, 2011 no doubt the tournament will crack on for england and I expect us in the knockout stages. But there is no question the tri nations series is exciting. Six nations for me is too slow. But it is good to see different styles of game pitching themselves against each other.I will look forward to watching the exciting games of fiji, new zealand and australia. But when the crunch games come then it is the time to sit down and watch and enjoy. But certainly watching the southern hemisphere games as I did while living in Asia, puts a whole different appreciation for there game compared with the british game.I do prefer rugby league, state of origin, the NRL, Super League. Great hits, off loads, attacking flair and points from tries. I like the people and fans of rugby league, I like the fact that in the UK its routes are just across the m62 corridor. I find that fascinating. Taking you to towns I would never normally go to warrington, castleford (£1.60 a pint)Union as mentioned can be decided fully on penalties and no one crossing the line. Just for me not a good a spectacle as rugby league.
hexem 0 Posted September 11, 2011 As a schoolboy I hated rugby, I enjoy watching clips of tries etc.Sadly I was pretty good.. My flying tackles learnt as a prep school lad were often a crushing point for the star runner.I think there is a bit too much grabbing in all sport.Looking at my old team mates snap from 1967, I am half their size!I was Front Row and then glad to be 2nd as I grew bigger. Much safer.I do enjoy watching Rugby more than football. The sheer speed some things develop is astounding.Apart from dear George Best.hex
