''A film version of Skins was confirmed on the E4 website for a Summer 2011 release,[12] and filming will begin in Bristol and the Isle of Man in late 2010. Scripted by Jack Thorne and directed by Charles Martin,[13] the film will be based around the second generation[12] but the first generation will be involved and the third will appear in one scene.[13] It has been confirmed that Dev Patel[14] and Nicholas Hoult[14] will be part of the cast.''

From wiki....

Don''t know if it will be any good.... Says new series starts 27th :D

Haven''t seen it.

Going to see True Grit at Cinema City with my Grandad next week. And think i have enough odeon points to see a film for free. So will either see Kings Speech or Black Swan next week at some point as well i think. (Was another one my Grandad mentioned that he wants to see, so will probably watch that as well :P) Haven''t been to cinema this year yet..... so will go 3 times in one week to make up for it :D

I don''t really know if i will like The Kings Speech, i''m sure its a good film, but probably not really aimed at my age group. But i''m sure its a brilliantly made film (I don''t think the award people get it too wrong very often....)

Looks like quite an interesting film there, might give it a go soon.

Now though, i want to watch Trainspotting again, it''s my new favourite film :D

Battle:Los Angeles

Great to play a game of "war film cliche" to this.

Watchable film,some great effects,but don''t think too hard about it[Y] 6.5/10

Anyone seen Cars 2? I''m taking my kids at the weekend so I''ll be going regardless of any poor reviews but would be interested to know if it''s any good. Toy Story 3 was probably my favourite film of last year.

A) How many people have seen The Kings Speech? And is it worth the fuss and hype?

B)I would like to recommend a beautiful French film called Of Gods And Men.

Herman, the wonderful thing about films ( and life ) is we all like different things. My viewpoint is that The King''s Speech was a good, simple story of life beautifully acted. However, to someone else''s opposite point of view, I thought The Black Swan was mediocre.

I watched Poliakoff''s ''Glorious 39'' Sunday evening and it certainly made you think what could have happened if more people had felt like several of the characters; believed peace with Hitler the right way to go.Interesting and glorious scenery; well, Norfolk was featured a lot!!
I must admit that I was so fed up with the hype surrounding The King''s Speech that when I sat down to watch it I was determined to hate every minute of it. I failed miserably and thouroughly enjoyed every part of the film. My personal view is that it was not quite as good as The Social Network (or Toy Story 3 [:P]) but I no longer begrudge it the critical acclaim it has enjoyed.
Agreed. Battle for LA was a terrible movie. Glad I caught it for free to the tele.
Confusing, there is no movie called Battle for LA, there is Battle: Los Angeles that came out in March and the Syfy/Asylum rip-off Battle of Los Angeles (this was probably the one that you saw on the TV if it was free).

So happy this has returned!! [:D]

I did pretty much the same thing with The King''s Speech, and The Social Network for that matter... all the hype surely meant they couldn''t be as good as people were making them out to be, so I sat to watch them with a cynical view that I was going to hate them (I mean one has Colin Boring Firth, and the other has Justing Effing Timberlake, ffs)...

...unfortunately, for my cynicism, I thought they were both brilliant films.

The King''s Speech is so engaging and absorbing pretty much from the off, and is so brilliantly acted with some amazingly simple cinematography.

The Social Network is a bit of a grower, and at first the Aaron Sorkin super-fast patter is a little off-putting... sure, it flows, but not everyone talks like they''re in the West Wing... after a while, though, it just starts to work and whips what could be a pretty dull story along nicely.

How true either film is to reality, I couldn''t say, but as pure entertainment, they both succeed wonderfully.

Bit of a random tangent, but I recently caught Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on telly, and then bought it on DVD from Sainsburys for £3! Its another slow-starter, but once it kicks off its just so brilliantly acted, it makes you sad to see how Steve Martin''s career has gone down the chute since his heyday - he has to be one of the best comic actors of his time, but is now resigned to third-rate family comedies and some sort of Banjo career (although his tweets are pretty amusing if you follow him).

Not a big fan of his but I would not say that his career has "gone down the chute". His acting has certainly taken a back seat but he has a lot more strings to his bow; producer, writer, etc. As for his banjo playing, he''s accomplished and he gets a kick out of it, at his age and with all that money in the bank why should he not?

Ive seen Horrible Bosses and Rise of the planet of the apes in the last couple of weeks.

Both good films. the ending of apes was a bit naff though.

By carefully editing all the trailers of Rise of the Planet of the Apes together you could probably get more or less the complete movie.

I have not seen it yet but (without giving anything away) how do they get around explaining how 300,000 Apes manage to rise up against (and conquer presumably) nearly 7  billion humans? However strong and clever they are the odds are stacked insurmountably against them.

i really love film but rarely get to go to the cinema so i haven''t seen too much of what 2011 has to offer but what''s come out recently hasn''t looked too appealing to me - Green Lantern and Capt America?  scraping the super hero movie barrell so badly that i expect BananaMan The Movie to come out before too long

want to see the Inbetweeners Movie - not expecting a fantastic piece of film but should be a good laugh

Devil''s Double is supposed to be very good so might be worth a look

the rest seem to be remakes or shameless attachments to a brand or idea - such as Battleship due to come out later this year "loosely based on the boardgame but with aliens" hmm....

and Space Invaders again based on the old arcade game.

bring on ''Angry Birds The Movie''

Yep there are two,one done on the cheap by the CGI guys who worked on Battle LA,called Skyline! Bit of a legal problem.

From wiki;

Legal conflict

Sony Pictures Entertainment investigated the possibility of legal action against the filmmakers Greg and Colin Strause, who were hired to do visual effects work on Battle: Los Angeles through their special effects company Hydraulx. Sony Pictures suspected the Strause brothers had created their own Los Angeles-based alien invasion film Skyline, which would compete with the Battle: Los Angeles release, by using resources they had gained while working on Battle: Los Angeles without the consent of Sony Pictures.[19] A spokesman for the Strauses responded by saying, "Any claims of impropriety are completely baseless. This is a blatant attempt by Sony to force these independent filmmakers to move a release date that has long been set by Universal and Relativity and is outside the filmmakers'' control.

I rarely go out in the evenings, the bouncers on doorways give me the creeps.I am 2 minutes away from "Screen on the Green", It''s all comfy sofas now and take your Pinot in as well.Ain''t like the old days of bruised knees and a bloke/lady with an annoying hairdo in front.Having said that (and it is not 2011) but I was quite spooked by a recent TV showing of a ''pre-war appeasement'' filmwith Bill Nighy as a consoling father, at the same time plotting heinous crimes.ec

No, not Skyline, I am aware of that movie. I''m talking about "The Asylum" who happen to release movies like "The Almighty Thor", "2012: Doomsday", "Sunday School Musical", etc, etc. The movies are either blatent rip-offs or tied into current releases in a none too subtle way to confuse the unwary public. Sadly, the big supermarket chains see nothing wrong with putting these DVDs alongside the genuine blockbusters on their shelves.

It''s not too hard to see what they are trying to do;

Saw Captain America and Rise of the Planet of the Apes recently.

Captain America, wasn''t as good as i was expecting It was ok, but was just a little disappointed.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes on the other hand, was brilliant in my opinion, really enjoyed that.

Just seen the trailer for "Red Tails", the combat action looks very exciting (even if it does rely on a bit of cinematic license)  but they have a lot of history to squeeze into the movie.
