Big fan of Arcade Fire Herman and No Cars Go is one of their best.

Absolutely amazing live experience too. Didn't love the last album but will happily go see them whenever I get the chance.

Enjoyed those Herman esp as hadn't heard of The Go! team or Four Try. Run out of reactions but 👍

The Go! Team are an excellent little group.

I think Summer Wind is one of my favourite Sinatra songs. There is very gallic acoustic version by Madeleine Peyroux that is very good to.

Funny to think that Sammy Davis Jnr performed to rapturous applause at Vegas Casinos but wasn't allowed to stay in them because he was black and had married a white woman. It wasn't until Sinatra intervened, probably with an answer that they couldn't refuse, that Sammy was eventually allowed to stay.

Correctamundo FF (no idea why I'm being Eddy from Early Doors). Was it Pete Wylie? It must have been a name change (not checked yet) and it sounds like the same singer as story of the blues. I heard this track in about 1985 and loved the guitar on it as I was learning to play myself then.

Ah yes, Pete Wylie. From memory I think that for a brief time there was Liverpool supergroup that he was in with Ian McCullough from Echo and the Bunnymen and a couple of others I can’t remember. May have to double check this now.

Yes you are right ...with Julian Cope of all people (always liked his hippy cheeky chap madness....world shut your mouth stuff).

Must admit now to feeling odd that all these people are around my age, my contemporaries indeed. Yet at the time you don't think like that! Weird.

Liverpool produced so many great indie bands... it's Immaterial my all time favourite. John Campbell is still there as my son saw him in Aldi a couple of years ago.

The Crucial 3, a band for six weeks before they split to do their own thing. I used to get the NME every week ( still got some upstairs) . All came back to me from your Wah Heat selection, thanks ! 😁

I still have a few NMEs too in the garage. Used to alternate with Melody Maker haha.

Always bought nme, usually got Sounds too but it had a bit of a heavy metal bias that I wasn’t really into

I listened to Madeleine's version and it is good. I've definitely heard her before, maybe on here, but she has that quality French soft huskiness, if that makes sense.🙂

I may have put this up before but out of respect to the drummer Tony Allen, who has just sadly passed, I'll stick it up again.

RIP Tony. One of the best drummers I have been blessed to see.

That track is just propelled by the drummer Herman. Not heard this before, thanks. Adding to my music list on my phone.

And Glen Campbell's voice is another loss to the world.

I always had a soft spot for Glen Campbell, even as a kid when it wasn't cool to like someone like him.

Nice one Kg. Clifford T Ward was one sensitive soul. And I saw Colin B about 4 years ago on tour. Now I'm getting on a little but me and the missus were probably among some of the youngest in the audience. He was pitch perfect even on Say You Don't Mind ....cheers for the memory.

Now I'm here I will keep with the mellow theme...

And uplifting...

@Ron...Enjoyed all of those. John Shuttleworth has a great northern comic sensibility (tho not on this track) and always reminds me a bit of Frank Sidebottom (Chris Survey), and I watched a film Being Frank recently. It was brilliant,  such an artistic genius. Film stayed with me for weeks etc. Found one of his songs to share.

And loved that subtle Cloud Capp'd Towers. I wonder too if Zappa was a Prokofiev fan.

Anyway,

...."stranger from another planet, welcome to our hole...."
