What y'all listening to?

Recommended Posts

Proper rock star, lived life to the full, said what he thought, didn''t give a flying fcuk, adored by punks and heavy metallers.

Good on yer mate, hope you continue to stir it up, wherever you are.

Blimey!! Terrible news coming through about Bowie. Sad, sad day for music if true.

Im a massive fan of Bowie, Ive pretty much lived my life through his songs. He was as diverse, unpredictable and versatile as they come. So many wonderful songs and albums, a Star Man simple as. RIP David :''(

Here''s a good one for you.

I have been booked to do a disco on St George''s Day. I usually work on a specialised angle, and have been asked to play ''The Best Of English'' - I have already started to research some stuff I want to play, everything from The Beatles upwards. Who would be your fave picks..?

Please don''t think I''m getting you to do my work!

It''s trickier than I thought. Can think of hundreds of great English bands, but thinking of songs that will get people up dancing is very hard.Led Zep-Trampled Under Foot. The only one of their''s that has a funkier edge. Get back if I can think of any others.

Good one Wazzy.

I guess you will have the sixties covered.

The following have all done some pretty danceable stuff..

T Rex, Roxy Music, a bit of Glam, Bay City Rollers, Leo Sayer maybe, Kate Bush, The Jam, Madness, Specials, Human League, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, The Smiths, Blur and Oasis, to Artic Monkeys and beyond. Finishing with Bowie and Starman

I don''t think it''s too important to get people dancing, just great music!

Good call through the 70s and 80s JS. I have made a rather large list already and I think I''ve got everything you mentioned

Was disappointed with the Libertines album despite a few gems. Don''t mind Doherty''s latest single though:

Been getting into Soko mostly:

Aye, not impressed. If you get a chance, check out the Super Furries new song, the first in years as well. Rather bonkers, which will be a marmite track.

I''ve listened to it. Glad I did. It''s definitely marmite. Can''t see myself listening to it when I''m not high tbh.

Thanks for the track. It reminds me a bit of the band Lemon jelly.

Yeah, good shout on Lemon Jelly[Y] If SFA do it live then they will turn it into a 20 minute, techno freak-out. Marvellous.

IF any of you like alternative country, or just country, or just beautiful music, give a listen to Sturgill Simpson''s new album.  It''s fantastic.

If you like Dinosaur Jr and early era Weezer then check out "teens of Denial" by the (awfully named) Car seat headrest. If you hear anything better than "Destroyed by Hippie Powers" then let me know.

Early contention for the Borkins Album of the Year award alongside the new Radiohead album.
