Going to see these guys tomorrow. Should be interesting and a break from the norm.http://youtu.be/zkVpiPu-2XU
That was the shortest gig i have ever been to. Started dot on 7.30 and was out the door by about 9.10 and that included a 20 minute interval. Very good though.

Been Youtubing quite a bit recently, trying to get inspiration for lyrics. Been revisiting a lot of 80s bands, Strawberry Switchblade, The The, Talk Talk, A Flock of Seagulls. Still sound great to me.
Heard a band from Norwich called Wooden Arms on 6 today. Very nice indeed.[Y]
Fantastic. Saw them live in an old church in St.Pancras. Very talented musicians and well worth checking out in Norwich next month. Not the greatest video but a sample of what they are about.http://youtu.be/uXu3eHMCdgo

I am assisting David Clayton with the country music show on Radio Norfolk Saturday. Country is not really my bag, but the modern stuff is not too bad. I''m wondering if I can get away with putting Pearl Of The Quarter by Steely Dan into the show? Does Jeff ''Skunk'' Baxter playing pedal steel qualify it as a country track?

Anyhow love Steely Dan, Gaucho is a fine album with the outstanding ''Hey Nineteen'' and ''Babylon Sisters'' on it!

What about Hank III much vaunted by Wilmeister or was it Herman. Heard Willy Mason the other day and was impressed. or Violent Femmes Country Death

Song. That''s my C&W input!

Looking forward to the Damned at the Waterfront Friday, though.

Can any of you knowledgeable guys tell me anything about the Norwich band Vengeance. I am currently selling their album ''Forward Into War'' it came out in 1988 on a German label Rock-O-Rama. On the thanks - back of the sleeve - there is a mention of The Vauxhall Tavern

Wilmeister''s your man for country, if he still lurks. A bit of Jonny Cash and Glen Campbell is my limit.

I can certainly help you with country FW.

A few of my favourites would be the obvious like Hank Williams, Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings.

For modern country you have to delve pretty deep as most of the well known stuff is truly dreadful in my opinion but there are some gems like Hank III, Devil Makes Three, Joe Buck, Wayne Hancock, Scott H. Biram (more blues than country), Those Poor Bastards, Builders and the Butchers, Possessed by Paul James.

Got the 8 Wedding present albums given the deluxe treatment for Xmas. Nice book style case and a good amount of extra content on there (though weddoe obsessives will probably already have it all).

Seamonsters one of the best albums ever made (though Bizarro runs it close). Anyone a fan or looking to check TWP out would do well to give them a listen.

New song by Doherty here, released a few hours ago. It''s about his friend Amy Winehouse. Very sad song, but beautiful.

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of supporting Eyes Of Blond at their reunion gig at The Talk. David Clayton decided we should only play tracks from the years the band were active 66 - 71.

Some great stuff to choose from...

The film was ok, it was a documentary featuring a couple of bands that Joe was involved with in Spain in the 80s or 90s. There was a band on before the film featuring the original drummer and some other musicians from the punk era. They played some Clash stuff but they weren''t that good.

After the film there was another band featuring better musicians, the highlight was Wayne Kramer playing a couple of Clash songs and then a couple of MC5 songs. Never really listened to them much but I might give them a go.
