Wings of a Sparrow 1,385 Posted April 21, 2012 Been listening to The Who again lately. No particular album - just hopping about on you tube.Great version of Baba O''Riley here, with a very animated Pete.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCNeVHv3Mlg
Willmeister 35 Posted April 21, 2012 Herman, great shout on the Southern Rock documentary. Lynyrd Skynyrd are one of my all time favourite bands. Such a tragic story. Steve Gaines had just joined the band when he died, it was such a waste of a talent. The few songs he wrote for the band were incredible. I think he would have gone on to become one of the worlds greatest songwriters. Ronnie Van Zandt said many times that eventually he would eclipse the whole band with his talent, a real shame he never got to fulfil his massive potential. Here is one of my favourite Skynyrd tracks that Gaines wrote:I Never Dreamed - Lynyrd SkynyrdAlso been getting into weird gothic country music. Unearthed a gem in Those Poor Bastards and Lonesome Wyatt, this won''t be to everyone''s taste but is different and original, which is why I love it.Ill At Ease - Those Poor BastardsFeast Of Fear - Lonesome Wyatt & The Holy Spooks

hexem 0 Posted April 27, 2012 Pretenders. On a singles CD at the moment. 2nd girlfriend was a total Hynde .Pulled me. I''ll never forget it. She worked for BBC radio . Family were loaded. Old family names.I don''t know where I went wrong. She decamped to Hong Kong as a journalist in 1972.So I am back on the chain gang.I am trying to do an insurance claim so a bit of past music helps. Good Songs.hex

Herman 9,585 Posted May 27, 2012 Not a lot!!Personally this has been the worst year for new music.Don''t know what''s happening but i have struggled to find anything[:(]
Marty 0 Posted May 29, 2012 I rather like the king Creosote / John Hopkins cd Diamond Mine. Other wise it has been a quiet year for music so far. I also like M83, Hurry up we''re dreaming, this was realesed last year mind. These are to 2 cd''s that will remind me of the birth of my little''un. The latest Wedding present album is solid too, plus they are playing the Seamonsters album in it''s entirity later in the year.

Herman 9,585 Posted July 1, 2012 Bonkers is the right word. Not a big fan of it but fair play to the organisers for not going with the easy option of a One Direction or some cheesy pop.
