midfield is not the problem

Recommended Posts

after reading last night''s evening news I was just speechless!

According to Worthy, the midfield is fine and he doesn''t expect to have to add to it, it''s the defence that needs tightening up and organising and the strikers who need to get goals, if these two aspects come right so we will be okay

but we don''t need to strengthen in midfield at all

so when safri goes to play for morocco that will be okay then and we don''t need a creative midfielder at all, he reckons that safri, brennan and marney will boss midfield all season

for Pete''s sake (sorry Pete) I will not post what myself and Meeky have to add to that statement, except we both ordered another drink

HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Out of curiosity when does Yousseff go off to the ANC? If its after January you can assume that Worthy will plan to get someone in during the transfers window to cover. If its before January then we are in trouble!

i wonder what drugs he is taking?

i mean come on!

we clearly have a midfield that is a shambles, and yet he goes for more strikers..... the goes back over himself saying its the defence thats the problem

he is seriously losing the plot

Don''t forget he will also be missing for Ramadam. So will miss Millwall, Luton, QPR, Sheff Weds and Cardiff but ideally should be back for Wolves. Except of course he won''t be because as he has missed all those games, Worthy will deem him as not match fit! So will probably give him another two or three weeks to get fit so he''ll miss Wolves, Luton, Millwall and possibly Coventry as well.

So that''s eight or nine games without our most influential playerand will leave us with a midfield of Marney, Hughes, Jarrett and Hucks and if one of them gets injured we will be royally stuck up the creek without the proverbial!

Suppose we could play Charlton in midfield to solve all our problems!

He has obviously lost the plot.

Sounds like a manager who hasn''t got a clue what to do.

Safri is the only real creative central midfielder we have got, think Hughes can do a job (bit of a Holty) but Jarrett so far as i have seen wouldn''t even get a start in the reserves if selection was based on ability.

Cheers Pete, one can assume that Worthy will get cover for him in the January Window. That, or he will put Clinton Morrison in centre midfield.

For you info Safri played through ramadam last season. Cant remember who against but there was a big article in the edp how he was having to get up and eat before dawn - couldnt have any fluids during matches but would scoff himself after the games when it was dark. Bizarre!

In principle the midfield we have should be able to boss this league for us but they quite simply aren''t so its plain to see we need someone else!!! On paper a midfield of

Hucks/Brennan Safri/Hughes Jarrett/Marney Marney/McVeigh

should do the business but it isn''t working. We have a very potent strike force so lets get them decent service from midfield!! Come on Worthy, why can''t you see what everyone else can see?? Are you embarrassed because you''re midfield transfers aren''t living up to their promise and you''re trying to disguise that???

The midfield is A problem, but so is the defence and half the striking force!

The problem with the midfield is that it just does not dominate. IF Hux is there we have one avenue of attack, but we are left virtually with a three man midfield. We have no other wide man who can regularly get round behind defenders, -perhaps McVeigh at his fastest a few years back, but not Brennan despite his pace.

In the centre we have Safri, who does tackle and does pass well, but he is teamed with Marney whom we signed as a wide player, and who is a little lightweight. We have run into teams already with central midfielders who by skill (Quashie) of muscle overpower our midfield.

Last year the midfield at times seemed absent or ineffective, and added problems to a defence likely to leak goals. None of the acquisitions over the summer have changed the position very much. This is why some of us are concerned about the squad. Early season losses do not have to be serious, - in time the new players will "bed in" and with a little luck going our way... But if the quality in an important area of the team is lacking, it is difficult to see us making a sustained assault on the Championship.
