A Bullet Dodged...

Recommended Posts

Aston Villa’s out-of-favour striker Ross McCormack will be given almost £1m on top of his salary if the club are promoted to the Premier League, SSN understands, even though he hasn’t played a Championship game for the club this season.

McCormack joined Villa for £12m in the summer of 2016, but has fallen out with manager Steve Bruce after a number of off-field disagreements – including one in January last year, when McCormack failed to turn up for training because his electric gates wouldn’t open.

It’s thought McCormack earns over £2.3m a year in wages, and contractual commitments mean his salary would automatically increase to over £3m if Villa win the play offs.

He has two years left on his contract, but has been on loan at Melbourne City in Autralia since September.

I think the reality is for every signing that doesn''t work out there''s probably another bullet dodged. Really successful signings aren''t really the norm. As RVW has been resurrected again this week it would be interesting to look back at Hughton and the signings he made. Probably only Bassong, Redmond, Ollson and Tettey worked out well. Have I missed any? And that would probably be viewed as a decent success rate?! But of course the two big money strikers were disappointing.

Blimey, you would have to be fast to be able to dodge a bullet.I should imagine that you see it coming, rather than hear it.Maybe that''s why they named that town Dodge City, as perhaps those shooting weren''t too accurate and so the ''intended'' claimed they had dodged the bulletPersonally I would advise anyone intending to shoot someone to write the victim''s name on the bullet, they won''t dodge that one never mind how fast they are.

Thank god we didn''t waste in the region of £30 million on over rated players who didn''t perform....

Oh wait a minute.....

The one player that the fans demand plays out of his skin is a striker.

Goals are the exciting part of football. Not great tackles or saves which are applauded but a diving header lifts 26K out of their seats.

And it is, in the main, a big risk for a club like us to splash big money on a player who has at best a fifty fifty chance of succeeding.

We have had endless arguments whether RVW, and Hooper as well, were poor players or not given the ball properly. The fact remains, RVW in particular is now judged as a complete failure and a bit of a joke.

McCormack had a very good scoring record at Cardiff, Leeds and Fulham so it as judges from another club, we surely have to say he was a success. So the fans of those three clubs will say he was a silver bullet.

Forest fans will think Holt was a donkey while we laud hin as one of our best ever.

Funny ole game Saint.

Another Alex Neil lunatic signing fortunately he wanted to go elsewhere. At the time top price for someone approaching 30 with little resale value. It could have been a Naismith on a grand scale
