Legends Game

What a great bit of PR by the club. Transfer window has opened and Webber can quietly get on with the business of hiring and firing while Archant are totally distracted by a bunch of middle aged men playing a football match.

Miserable git, never thought I’d see a forward line of Eadie, Holt and Huckerby, with Roberts to come on as sub. Really looking forward to it.

Yes, who let the club come up with the fiendish diversion ?
What''s the betting none of them turn up and the gates are locked.
Just be thankful we have your sort to point out stuff like this.

Would have liked to have been there but too much on at the moment to sacrifice a 400 mile round trip and an entire day for this game.
One thing I will say though, is well done to all those who attended.
Quite funny seeing the scummers having a pop at this because it''s so "tinpot" when in reality, the most tinpot thing about the whole event was the fact that more people bothered going to this game than the average attendance at Poorman Road this season. We got more than double the number of people to attend a charity game of 40/50+ year old players than they managed for several league games this season.
From the bits and pieces I''ve seen on twitter, looks like a great day for a good cause.

There was no sarcasm in my OP. Your assumptions are all that’s negative. I genuinely think it’s a great event and the timing is very good for PR. End of a sticky season with high profile departures, this is an ideal end of season distraction. All the press is about this game rather than picking through the bones of a mediocre season. The silly season will kick in soon enough but thank god we have the World Cup first. Oh and they are a bunch of middle aged men, that’s just fact. They are of course great players of the past, well most of them!

It is a fantastic bit of PR by the club. It started over a year ago when the PR men persuaded the CSF to open an ambitious community facility calked The Nest at the old Anglian Windows sports club at Horsford. They then cleared the old site to enable the new facility to take shape. They then got local people / businesses to start a fundraising initiative. They then came up with the great idea to stage the legends game to help raise money to build the nest. Persuaded all the Norwich legends to sign up along with the Interforever legends to play a charity match to help raise more money to build the nest. All this to divert attention from the transfer window opening. PR at it''s finest.

Alternatively m congratulations to our wonderful CSF and their supporters, both teams and all who turned up for a great afternoons entertainment. This is part of the soul of our club. OTBC

Hucks still has that magic ability to draw 2 defenders & then accelerate between them into space to cause more damage. How come Josh Murphy & Co don''t learn to emulate that very effective style of play?

Oh, & wasn''t it wonderful to see several big diagonal balls played from right back to left wing to set Hucks away? This season I''ve really missed Norwich completely by-passing midfield with a bit of urgent intent...

Those were nearly all performed by Safri in midfield, albeit from deep as you suggest. It''s something Vrancic does when he''s on the pitch that others don''t, and that''s when Onel and Josh start to look effective.

Terrific afternoon at Carrow Road in the sunshine. Great to see so many of the old guard. Well done everyone who came along to support a good cause!

Massive thanks to the Milan boys, really took it seriously. Bryan Gunn in goal was not a pretty sight but he certainly had fun with the Italian keepers. Wonderful afternoon

A mixed bag of performances and waistlines

...The obvious quip that even now Rob Newman would be better than Russell Martin.....didn''t let a thing past him all game....Huckerby obviously the fittest man on the pitch.

Begrudgingly Andy Marshall was good....

Well done to the PR Dept. for scripting this too [;)]
They beat Chelsea 4-1 on Friday so our Legends did really well. Could have been 2-2 through great management from Mike Walker in making sure we had our best attacking players all together towards the end of the game. Inter really fit to hold on with a much smaller squad.
Magic moment for me was to see the love 18,000 people still have for Gunny[Y]

Great afternoons entertainment for a tenner each. Really can''t complain, got to see some old (and some even older) heroes, have a good chuckle at some of the players antics and see some good football too. How Holt didn''t score at least one of those I really don''t know!

We should sign Hucks up.....still got it.

Impressed by father Mulryne and Gary Holt as well.

Others appeared not to have kept their fitness levels p but have clearly been enjoying plenty of corporate hospitality !!

Great attendance and well done the club for an enjoyable day at a real bargain price

Great afternoon''s entertainment on a lovely afternoon in front of a fantastic turnout of around 18,000 and I hope a huge amount of money was raised for this good cause.Huckerby head and shoulders man of the match. Father Mulryne must be the Messi of the priesthood and at 53 years old Klinsmann showed he''s still got it in managing to hit both posts when he appeared in the 2nd half.Great cheers when Gunn made a couple of early saves but despite his frantic efforts he failed to get subbed before a dangerous Inter free kick whistled into his top left hand corner. Panto villain Andy Marshall was the pick of the goalies and made a couple of great saves. There was a lap of honour at the end which might have been only marginally quicker if they''d done it around Gunn and Rob Newsome but fair play to all the legends who took part today.

Thought Prior still looked good and played the whole game I think, always rated him when he was here.

Was really impressed with Milan yesterday.

Zanetti was excellent, Matterazzi''s Free Kick was quality ans Beresi at 60, despite the grey hair looked as fit and energetic as most of our team this year. He was superb at left back! Got up and down that flank as well as someone half his age.

Really enjoyed the game and thought Hucks showed what we have missed for so long.

Grant Holt made more runs and gave better options than Olivera has done all season👍👍😀😀

Just about to say this Holt looked far more dangerous in the box than NO
