i think Foreign investors will look at any clubs

people say we are out the way in norfolk etc thats rubbish like everything there are different levels of investors the the ultra rich will go for the big clubs but the lesser but still mega rich to you and me will look at the smaller clubs

i am sure if this club was put up for sale we would sell it very easily

As much as I’d like a person to come in who had the clubs interest at heart and throw money at it to make it a success, I can’t help thinking that the whole thing is pretty much fcuk’d now. There are so many teams now with rich owners and only so many available places in the PL that it’s getting to the point that having the money will still be a lottery for promotion. I’m at the point where I believe that football is fcuk’d. To quote a poster on another thread, it’s sold it’s soul and although I will always be a Norwich City fan, I think I’ve lost a lot of interest in the game now. There is no going back and the only way is to get on board but I do wonder what the end game is now? One thing is for sure though, our ownership model will make it harder and harder for us to compete at this level but if we do manage to pull out a miracle, that success would be far sweeter.

i agree JF only so many PL places

but it would be nice to just have a bit of money to buy players like say Gunn and say you can be our No1 instead of being at Man city and not getting a game

i do not want to be a man city but would like enough money at the club to compete

Does this mythical and mystical potential new owner some of you are craving necessarily need to be Chinese?I mean, there are a few people from India with lots of money. Also, perhaps a Sheikh or someone from the UAE could help?Maybe there''s a German billionaire we can look at! Now, there''s a thing... [:D]

Which three years later surely shows that nepotism is not the way to take the club forward ?

Get a bit cross at all the "nepotism" stuff  - it''s an offensive word to use for people passing on the assets of their life to relatives.   If you don''t pass on your wealth to your relatives, what else are you going to do, just give it away to a complete stranger?

As the new owners haven''t taken the club forward yet it doesn''t prove your point at all.

Offensive?

The dictionary definition is ''the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.''

Which seems pretty accurate to me.

Didn''t Wigan just romp home to promotion?Nepotism may work if that''s the case.

If our owners were that bothered about us being an ambitious club in the future they’d be open to selling to someone that sees the club as more than a mid table side.

Tom will be another owner without sufficient knowledge or funds to improve the squad and facilities.

Not sure quite how stinkingly rich. The International Entertainment Corporation has an impressive name, but apparently its main business is running one hotel/casino, and based on these figures, is really not very big or rich at all:IEC’s interim financial results for the six months to 30 September 2017

showed revenue of HK$148.5m (£13.7m) and a loss of HK$6.4m (£600,000).

The company issued a profit warning in November forecasting that loss,

following profits made in the similar six-month period in 2016.
and the latest figures are:Revenue for the quarter of HKD39.9m (£3.8m)and a loss before tax of HKD3m (£290,000), and for the nine months revenue of HKD117m (£11m) and a profit before tax of  HKD10m (£900,000).
Based purely on those revenue figures,  IEC is a smaller company than Norwich City, which even once the parachute payments are gone is likely to have annual revenues getting close to £30m. But there may well be hidden wealth in the company or in the owners. I would assume/hope Whelan has done his homework.

Sunderland were bought for £40m yesterday as well having of course been relegated to League 1. Some of these new owners will no doubt turn out to be good, others may not bring the success their fans craved. One thing that is clear though is that "there just aren''t people out there" who want to buy clubs like Norwich is patently untrue yet many of our fan base seem to continue to blindly accept it.

The irony of course is that in a few years time when they have wracked up the debt and we are languishing in the lower reaches of the champs or even league 1 then that statement may well become more credible than it is now but just think how attractive we would be (and certainly would have been) to a buyer if they were prepared to sell at a price that just saw them get the money they have invested back (even though Delia has said she never expects to get it back).

Being realistic about it Jim, perversely we will probably be a more attractive proposition to this kind of investor if we do end up with a mountain of debt and languishing in league 1.

Do the current owners see the club as mid table? They must''ve really miffed when we got those promotions to the Premier League.
I would imagine that Toms knowledge is better than a Chinese investment firm, he''s been a board member of the club longer then they have.

Is either bit of that true, Jim? I remember that when we hired a firm (Deloitte''s?) about five or six years ago that survey produced more than 50 supposed expressions of interest, but it was Bowkett, the hard-nosed businessman, who said when he looked at them closely, to see if the money really was there, none of them stood up to his scrutiny. That is not saying there is absolutely no-one out there; only that much of what gets floated is a sham. And it is a fact that no-one has ever made a formal offer for the club, which someone really serious could have done. Smith and Jones'' majority shareholding is not an insupperable barrier to a takeover. As to what fans believe, I suspect many take the Bowkett view, that while there may be some genuine would-be buyers out there, many are charlatans not to be touched with a barge-pole. Rather than blind acceptance, it is a healthy scepticism.

I''m sure that whenever NepoTominism is handed the club reins, our ever faithful support of NCFC will naturally display to him - the same patience, tolerance, acceptance, forgiveness, loyalty and total fawning adulation that is currently enjoyed and afforded to his club saviour Aunty and her hubby MWJ.......

If we are a success or if unfortunately it all goes Pete Tong and total rat$hit......We as loyal true support, will still stick by and tolerate Tom.....

Oh the heady days of the scum fans waving their notes at us when they found their stinking rich investor and the massive success that came with him. I''m just glad he never found out we were just up the A140.

As has already been pointed out that the new Wigan owners don''t appear on the face of it to be ''that'' rich, and also serious point what happens when President Xi tells all of his millionaires and billionaires to ring their money home? Or foreign football falls out of fashion? There will be an almighty vacuum left behind and a number of clubs will end up in the serious do do.

As for the Sunderland takeover, what do we know of Stewart Donald? He''s a multi-millionaire Oxford fan who was originally fronting an ''international consortium'' of investors but is now pretty much the last man left of it. According to the Chronicle, he has a net worth of £8.4m. That''s it.

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/who-stewart-donald-sunderlands-new-14591648

My suspicion was aroused when I read that he''s paying in installments to Ellis Short who was frankly desperate just to get rid of the club off of his hands.

There have been many takeovers during Delia''s tenure and a few I have cast an enviable eye over but I think these latest two are nothing to be jealous of, nor am i losing any sleep over.
