Bill 1,788 Posted June 9, 2018 "English Football League teams will no longer be obliged to print matchday programmes for every game after a vote at the league''s annual general meeting."Full story
lake district canary 4,531 Posted June 9, 2018 A more sensible approach to programmes is all that is required. Less pictures and less irrelevant articles will return us to a smaller pamphlet that gives information, not huge amounts of waffle and gloss. The resultant cheaper cost of producing it will mean it can be sold for a £1 or maybe £2 - and more people would buy it. Lots of the present glossy thick programmes of today are given away with the ticket and many are dicarded at the end of the game. A programme that is cheaper, sleeker, meaningful and informative (just about the match day) is bound to do better imo - and to collectors, more collectable. Bigger is not always better. yellow 63 23 Posted June 9, 2018 Plenty of scope to make programmes appealing and cheaper retro covers old players on the cover etc £2 for 40 odd pages wouldn''t be a bad move, and slightly smaller, did e-mail the programme editor a few weeks ago but obviously not worthy of a reply
Bill 1,788 Posted June 9, 2018 I would agree.Have something that is easier to read, less adverts and glossy paper.Something a few steps up from the fanzines of old.A fair few would welcome something easily readable before the game and at half time. Maybe worki with fans to use their input. Which was the beauty of fanzines. There you could read stuff from those who saw the game from the same standpoint.Otherwise like to pile of music cassettes they will simply sit in folks attics, shelves as a remembrance of simpler times, and with some programmes... memorable times. Bill 1,788 Posted June 9, 2018 Perhaps programme sellers could have dog on a bit of string sat on a blanket beside them.Or be more cheerful. As old chap used to shout ''Evening to yous'' at folk when he was selling news papers opposite the Bell.
