Sympathy for Daniel ?

Recommended Posts

Now lost 4 players for 50/60 million that he had none or very little time to work with . You just hope (but don’t hold your breath ) that a significant amount has been promised to him for fresh talent .

I hope he hangs around to give it a go but it wouldn’t be the biggest shock if he walked too .

Yes and, no doubt, if he walked it would cheer up some of the moany types on here and in other places. Which would be very unfair on the man.

In some respects, yes. He seemed quite upset that Pritchard left after only having him fully fit for about a month. I''m sure he''ll be even more sad to see Murphy and Maddison go.

It still doesn''t justify playing the slow, lateral passing style that the team played at times last season though.

I can''t imagine there is much unexpected about it though- Murphy he might not have seen coming but Maddison was always going to happen.

You would imagine the style will be more expansive this coming season . It’s higher up where the real problem lies and will continue. Delia is an awesome ambassador for the club but an A rank awful owner .

If he walked where would he go, the third tier of German football?

He hasn''t made his mark yet and he is managing at the top of where he could reasonably expect to be, so he won''t walk away at this point in time.

She is not the owner
Her and Wyn are the majority shareholders, by a very small margin
However if you need to personalise this to attack the club then do continue
..............as there doesn''t seem to be much at poorman road for you to get worked up about

To be fair, i know Maddison is class but he was (along with pritchard, watkins, Jerome, Oliveira and Murphy part of the attack that was mainly responsible for our poor season. Perhaps we will find a less individually talented but way more cohesive attack next time round. Holt, Martin, Hoolahan was hardly the most heralded front 3 in the league but they absolutely hammered that league!

Fair comment Mr Jig. Obviously players are on their way and we can only hope they hit the ground running from game one . They say you get what you pay for so let’s hope that’s wrong .

I think our manager is doing a fantastic job given that £50m has been poured down the drain courtesy of our board and the previous manager.

I think Daniel was well aware of the short comings of Josh as a player but supported him while he was our player - as any good coach/manager should support his players.  Same with Oliveira or anyone else.  He will hope that we get players that are suited to the system he wants to play - intelligent and adaptable players who consistently perform at their best.  DF doesn''t need any sympathy, he just needs good replacements and something he can work with to produce the results we all want.

He will need some money to sign good replacements unless we can find more gems in the free transfers.

Daniel does deserve our sympathy for the bad situation(courtesy of the board and the previous manager) he has to face. Letting £50m pour down the drain is not a good position for him to take over.

The truth of the matter is that we have under-achieved with our squad for the last two seasons - you only have to see the money (fee and/ or wages) that other clubs have been prepared to pay for them to recognise that. For whatever reason, it hasn''t worked. After three windows Webber/ Farke will have had a pretty good chance to buy players and shape a squad to the way that they want to play. I think that we can reasonably expect progress on the pitch this year and excuses on the football side will start to look pretty thin. I like Farke and want him to succeed but we really need to be at least pushing the play-off places this year.

Farke is wasting his professional career at a club like this.

There is no prospect of him building a winning team because the Suffolk Socialists are bent on maintaining their grip on the club and that means selling players to avoid debt at all costs.

Wealthy owners can work in tandem with the manager to build a side because as Fulham showed the owner can pay wages to the equivalent of 100% of turnover. It is called the not self-funding model.

if he belives he can get a better job in Germany at a higher level than he was managing before with a better wage, surely he''d be off as he must have seen by now that his hands are tied here and will continuously have the right pulled from beneath his feet.

.

.....alternatively he knows he won''t get a better job in Germany at a higher level with a bigger wage and is quite happy to stick it out here knowing this is a good as it''ll get for him and will keep his mouth shut and put up with what''s going on

I see the cynics are out in force again, nothing will ever be good enough for them.  I suspect DF is enjoying the challenge he has at Norwich, working at a superb club with fantastic supporters and the ability to work with high quality players.  He has matched Chelsea and Arsenal, overseen a huge change round of players, worked with - and helped to improve - one of the best young talents in this country, integrated several good new players, brought Lewis through to the first team and has the opportunity to further improve/develop the squad next season, with more new players surely to arrive in the next few weeks.  He must be loving every minute.

I respect you a lot Lakey but to say we’ve matched Arsenal and Chelsea is stretching it abit ! Norwich didn''t compete with them for a top 6 Prem finish but gave their B teams a good game in a cup match .

....loving every minute. ...watching all his best players systemically sold one by one from the moment he came through the door and being replaced by "questionable" replacements that he may or may not have a say in which only makes his job increasingly harder. ..

It’s likely one of the reasons he got the job in the first place. You couldn’t imagine an experienced manager like Colin idly standing by whilst the talent in his squad gets sold off.

Depends really on how the final squad finishes up.
So far Matthews, Lewis, Husband, Hanley, Zimmerman, Klose(assuming he stays), Tettey, Trybull, McClean, Stiepermann, Vrancic, Hernandez, Buendia and Srbeny makes fourteen.
Throw in a new goalkeeper on loan, a right back (depending if Pinto stays or not), Ben Marshall and Leitner would make a hypothetical eighteen.
Which puts huge pressure on signing at least one quality striker, and a second striker/pacy winger to take the total to twenty (assuming Godfrey, Raggett and Cantwell all go out on loan). Which seems the maximum given Webber''s comments on large squads.
So solid, functional, but potentially uninspiring.

You missed Oliveira - but even with him that squad does look light. Unless you also add Naismith, Jarvis and Martin who are still under contract. And McGovern.

I don''t think Godfrey will go on loan. Cantwell to League One maybe.

Having said that I have high hopes for McClean and would be very happy with Leitner as Maddisons replacement.
