stewfil 10 Posted June 18, 2018 Leicester are closing in on the signing of James Maddison after Norwich accepted a bid of £24m for the 21-year-old English midfielder. (Mail)From BBC gossip
lake district canary 4,531 Posted June 18, 2018 As far as the medical is concerned, six weeks on from his injury and reckoned to be out for eight weeks, Maddison should be approaching full fitness.
Van wink 2,994 Posted June 18, 2018 If true then sad on two fronts, the fact he’s going and that he’s not made £25m☹️
Bethnal Yellow and Green 1,557 Posted June 18, 2018 Everyone is taking the story from John Percy at the Telegraph who said it was a £25m deal. I guess it is how you consider the break down of that del to what it is actually worth. Leicester might be paying the sell-on fee Norwich will owe to Coventry, or some of the add ons might be pretty optimistic etc. Basically, it seems it will be a huge chunk of cash for Norwich and significantly higher than the £17m which was the rumoured value at the beginning of the summer. River End Canary 18 Posted June 18, 2018 Comparing Grealish last year and Maddison''s record, why on earth is Grealish being valued at £40m and we settle for £25mWe have been done like a kipper

ron obvious 1,499 Posted June 18, 2018 The only team valuing Grealish so high are Villa, who want £40m to cover their financial problems.Best offer they''ve had is £15m (allegedly).
Clint 221 Posted June 18, 2018 If Grealish goes for anywhere near £40m then I am, in fact, a kipper.
Mike 0 Posted June 18, 2018 Gutted, he is a great players & I like seeing great players at NCFC.... been one rubbish summer so far... let''s see what investment we now get...
Old Shuck 183 Posted June 18, 2018 Sources in and around Leicester will quote as low a possible purchase figure as they can, sources in and around Norwich will quote as high as it can possibly go-unlikely additional payment figures like winning the Champions League with them or his 25th England cap won whilst at the club (he''d have long left Leicester if that looked like happening) will be included. It''ll never be enough for some, whatever ends up being reported here but, if as is said to be the case, Madders wanted to join Leicester all along then there was never going to be the bidding war everyone wanted as he was never going to see himself just sign for the club that offered us the most money.. Leicester are therefore in something of a position of strengh when it comes to the fee as they know he wants to go there and won''t need to pay over the odds.We were a stepping stone for him and he may see Leicester in exactly the same way. But good luck to him regardless. If he starts the season with them and does well, he''ll be in a full England squad by the Spring.

River End Canary 18 Posted June 18, 2018 What sickens me is the happy clappers delighted that we are selling Maddison for such a big feeWhat happened to ambitionGod next season is going to be depressing
lake district canary 4,531 Posted June 18, 2018 No one is celebrating the move Splat but most people recognise the reality of the situation - without the need to get too worked up about it either. Old Shuck 183 Posted June 18, 2018 Splat, what about Maddison''s ambition?Should he give up his own ambitions in the game in order to maybe achieve some lesser ones with us?You can''t castigate the club for not showing ambition then not expect any player to want to do exactly the same. Old Shuck 183 Posted June 18, 2018 Had we gone up last season he would certainly have stayed until next Summer. if we''d stayed up we''d then be talking about £30 million plus in all likelihood. All hads and ifs though. We didn''t and he''s gone.More''s the pity. It''ll be a long way back, lets hope, somehow, his sale starts to kick things off in the right direction again. Woodman 92 Posted June 18, 2018 Splat - "Would far rather we solve the problem by selling the expensive naismiths of this world rather than sell our future".You can''t sell someone if no one wants to buy him. Or rather, no one will offer him a deal anywhere near what he''s on here. I''m pretty sure the club would love to sell Naismith, McGovern, Jarvis, Wildschut & Martin if it meant we could keep Maddison. And of course, the player has his own ambitions as well. ROBFLECK 132 Posted June 18, 2018 Well, we were resigned to losing him. But if we hadn''t had him this season we would''ve been fighting relegation imo. Again these are ifs and hads...I just don''t see a player in our squad that''s any way near good enough to fill his boots! We only finished half way ... As most City fans imo , I fear we''re in to a long , long period of mediocre , midtable championship football. It''ll show us what Webber and Farke can conjure up in the transfer market though
Mr Apples 1,317 Posted June 18, 2018 Considering a few weeks ago when he was first injured and could have been out for a signficant time with a dramatic loss in value I''d say it''s worked out well for all parties.Naismith to Hearts next.Apples
lake district canary 4,531 Posted June 18, 2018
"It''s called the real world, you should try it sometime." Glorious, glorious irony.
Whatever you want to think, but there are - imo - quite a few people on here who are living in some nether world where money grow on trees or at least who can''t accept the reality of the financial situation regarding the club. The Maddison sale, while being disappointing on the football level, is actually a fantastic piece of business for the club''s long term well being. Football clubs move up and down all the time, we will do the same and the money raised through sales is going to help us consolidate, regroup and build a team capable of challenging the top of the table again. Some of us relish the challenges of that, the ups and the downs, the rest - those who live in a fantasy world - will just complain, or even cry, week after week that we aren''t what they want us to be. We will get new heroes to replace Maddison and one player''s departure is another player''s chance to step up. What Maddison has done in one season is set a benchmark for the other midfielders to emulate - the bar has been raised and others will have to live up to that. king canary 7,578 Posted June 18, 2018 @LDCThey are no more in a ''nether world'' than someone who spent the last two seasons ignoring all basic, rational evidence to claim we could still make the top 2 or the top 6.

Imo, it is an anything can happen sport.......if the points are there to be won, they can be.
king canary 7,578 Posted June 18, 2018 So if anything can happen then we can keep Maddison?Right?I don''t agree with them but it takes a fantastic lack of self awareness for you to get at others for not ''living in the real world.''
