Jarvis

Surely time to say enough is enough, he is never going to play for us again, come to some sort of agreement and both parties move on, feel sorry for the lad.

Some sort of agreement would mean paying up his contract
Who pays for any medical treatment during that time ?

err, that rather misses the point
ie Jarvis will require that to be part of any ''agreement''

Just because you have injuries you don''t stop trying to get fit.  Good luck to him on his quest to get playing again, never say never - and when his contract is up is when his position should be reviewed, not before.

He isn''t being injured on purpose but surely a doctor could look at him and tell him whether he will ever play again.

Even cruciate or breaks are normally repaired by now. His must be an injury that means he can''t play at all.

Don''t the players or club take out insurance to cover this?

His knee is repaired - its getting all the muscles in balance in the affected leg that is not easy after a knee op - and subsidiary injuries can be a problem.  He may never get to full fitness but at least he can try as long as he is under contract.

Sorry LDC, I thought it was his ankle. A Malleolar injury which is a serious one and one that can easily end a career.

No, you''re right, but it depends on how far back you go - the original problem was the knee. I might be wrong, but often other injuries occur as a result of the first one and trying to get everything back in balance.

This case is simple imo.

Jarvis no way to sign anymore contract with this parameters in his life and decline any approach from club to be determined this deal.

Of course for club is bad deal but cant make anything if player not agree to broke the original contract parameters.

During his contract he obviously receives being paid and gets treatment for injury as he is insured by the club. Once contract expires no pay, treatment or insurance. Expect insurance claim to be filed before contract expires next May perhaps unless Jarvis could get another contract. Once insurance paid cannot play again unless gives payment back. Unsure if has to retire due to injury means City recover anything.

Stuck with the Jarvis saga for some time to come.

Is there any injury that he hasn''t had?
No matter what you do or where you work there comes a time, if you are no longer fit for purpose, when you will be shown the door.

I would like to think that we have insurance in the players which will be covering most of his waves. But you never know.

I also came across the following on the website from a law firm which specialised in injured players, quite interesting:

In the English Premier League and the Football League, there is a different regulation depending on the fact whether or not the injury was sustained under club duty. In the case of an injury sustained under club duty, the club pays for the player his basic salary for 18 months. For the remaining period before recovery, the club is obliged to pay only 50 % of the salary.

If a player should sustain an injury away from club duties or an illness, the club will pay the players basic salary for up to 12 months. For the remaining period before recovery the club is obliged to pay 50 % of the salary.

When a player suffers permanent incapacity or when he is unable to play resulting from the same injury or illness for a period amounting to eighteen months in any consecutive period of twenty months the club shall be entitled to serve a notice upon the player terminating this contract. The length of such notice shall be twelve months in the case of incapacity by reason of a player injury and six months in every other case (i.e. car accident

Feel for the guy but at some point he has to decide if the constant attempts to come back are worth it. His body is just broken at this point.

Not correct!

In the case of a footballer with a long term injury, its often been decided that the player isn''t going to be fit to play again so they come to an agreement over his contract and they will have insurance as well!

Maybe he has been told he is unlikely to play again but presumably if he chooses to quit he won''t get his full contract paid.

I know we were all worried about his previous injury issues before although his stats suggested he had played quite a few games every season but to be fair these injuries and the original bad injury occurred playing with us so he deserves his full pay.

Yes it''s frustrating for us and I''m sure for Webber paying for someone who seems so brittle now but no one will feel as shit as Jarvis does..he wants to play football.he is possibly risking his physical health in the future by persevering with rehab etc.

What actually is his current injury and what was it originally. I genuinely cant remember. Feel sorry for the guy. I can’t go down the heartless route because there is no way in the world he wants to be in this situation.

In the last 3 years I''ve seen very little evidence to support the claim that he is a footballer.
Anyway, as I understand it he now spends most of his time at his football academy in Surrey.

He''s being paid because he is under contract and if he is pursuing possible future interests while trying to get fit, then good on him.  Or would people rather have him chained to the treatment table for the rest of his contract?
