Well done Farke & Webber

Recommended Posts

We brought in Krul, Passlack, Rhodes, Pukki, Signed Leitner, Ben Marshall, Buendia and McLean has come to join the party.

Great work this off season and being financially secure.

Well done to everyone at the club.

Upwards and Onwards.

Won''t know for sure until the real football starts but we seem to have a much much better squad now.

Practically swapped Murphy and replaced him with the 5 or 6 players we needed...plus the maddison money clearing our shortfall.

You would think that i would have learned now at 41 but I''m expecting top 6 and promotion now..

Agree entirely with the sentments of the op.  Still a bit of work to do in reducing the wage bill, but overall a promising close season revamp.
Won''t be expecting a spectacular start to  the season, just hope we keep things tight and pick up points consistently, then push on as the teamwork develops over the season.  Top six by May would be brilliant, challenging for top two, even better.

Well just think also we will have Martins, Naismiths and Jarvis wages slashed next season and that can only strengthen the squad even more so.

Believe they''re considering Godfrey there if they play as a 3.

Yes Snow/ Grando - but 3 specialist and one part-time centre back does seem a little "thin," especially if they plan to pay with 3 at times. Or am I missing someone?

Proof of the pudding and all that, but signings done quickly and been around to intergrate early.

Feel Buendia could be the pick of the bunch, shame he hasn’t been able to play in any of the friendlies yet though.

on paper its looking good

but we will see ….

the one thing I would like more than anything is to pick up the win vs the binners and make it a full decade

agree totally - really excited to see him strut his stuff.

Hope Thompson can stay injury free too - he''s a star in the making.

bloody optimism ......... its the hope that kills us!!!

I really hope things are going to be better, my big worry is we''ve sold out two best attacking players from last season and no more Wes. I''m yet to be convinced that the replacements are able to fill their boots, but am hoping that maybe they will be able to implement whatever plan Farke has to greater affect as a team. Fingers crossed, aslong as the plan is not "lets pass the ball about in our own half for as much of the game as possible".

Surely the time to say "well done" is when the replacements for players like Maddison, Pritchard & Murphy actually start performing on the pitch, we see a marked improvement in entertainment levels and we start scoring goals and winning games.
Flogging off the family silver and bringing an assortment of unknown hopefuls, loan players and assorted journeymen is hardly a cause for gratulations before a ball has been kicked in anger.
Everything could be fine but don''t get your hopes up too much until you see what happens over the first 10 games.
I wonder if they view Godfrey as a potential fill-in at centre-back...
The club have always seen Godfrey as CB material, and have said so repeatedly since his arrival, most recently in an EDP article about him just a week or so ago. Whether Godfrey takes a similar view of his future is another matter.

Krul and Rhodes (albeit the latter on loan) could be really good signings. Could both be flops - four or five years ago we’d have loved to have them but let’s see if they can find some form.

The other signings are alright. Nothing more. Will any of the signings replace Maddison? I don’t think so. Is the first team stronger than last season? I also don’t think so. Is the squad fairly strong and will it finish mid table? Yes to both.

Yes, congratulatons and well done indeed from every true fan.

We have beaten many bigger and higher placed clubs to bring in some top quality players, giving us the chance to push on.

Let''s do our bit and get behind them.

Exactly my thoughts Krul was a top keeper how much of that has he still got ???

Rhodes again has done it but struggled for a few seasons

if those two can find their old form it would be fantastic signings

My biggest worry is not the players it is Farke he has to play more attacking a bit more direct and get this team scoring goals !

we can not have anymore of the Games like Cardiff where we had the ball most of the game and losing 2 -0

Can only judge on whats gone on so far. Why people feel obliged to say ''dont get your hopes up wait until weve played 10 games''.

Well obviously we will all be judging and commenting once we are playing. But in the mean time there is nothing wrong with us congratulating Webber and co for sorting transfer targets early, clearly identifying weak areas of the team and signing a mixture of experience and youth.

To where we were financially last year to still having what looks on paper a very promising strong squad I am very happy with what has been done.

If Farke plays these players to what they are capable of I can''t see why we can''t be in the top 6. I don''t see many other teams out there that seem that much stronger on paper where we can''t compete.

That''s the problem though isn''t it? On paper they do seem like a promising bunch of signings and it''s easy and understandable for us fans to fantasise about just how good they may be.

However, we have been through this process many times before.

I remember being quite excited by the signing of this Vladis Voo player, or whatever he was called, yet he came and went whilst hardly making a dent upon our fortunes.

There are so many similar. I do agree though that our transfer dealings have been better than expected this Summer and anticipate Kenny McClean being the standout player, whilst little Buendia could be a revelation, however I think that a lot will hinge upon Jordan Rhodes hitting the net regularly. Pukki seems to be a wise choice also.

A few mill for the geezer and it will have been a good window, imo.

Credit to Webber for getting deals done quickly and efficiently and making a limited budget stretch far enough to leave us without any obvious holes in the squad.

Farke will get credit once he shows he knows how to use these players properly.

If the club see Godfrey as a CB it’s strange they didn’t insist on Shrewsbury playing him as such last season. From what I saw of him he looks good enough to play a similar role as Tettey, perhaps rotating the 2 if Tettey is unable to play week in, week out

Potentially a really well balanced squad. If Raggett does go to Rotherham, I think we need to find another CB (we''d be one injury/suspension away from the bare bones) and I imagine there will be a couple of loans out as well - Oliveira and McGovern most likely.

As usual, I''m excited about seeing how the new midfield and forward players perform - MacLean, Buendia, Rhodes, Pukki and having Thompson back from injury will feel like a new player.

I''m a little concerned about left back/wing back. It sounds as if Lewis isn''t fit for Birmingham and Husband and Stiepermann aren''t at his level.
