If Oliveira is moving on we have until the end of the month if it is overseas.
Similarly, with incoming and outgoing loans
Would prefer to see what money we have available held over until January, if only that I have a goo feeling that we will be up there....needing a bit of a boost to push us on, and we won''t know until then what positions need covering.
However we are always beholden to the silly money bid so we shall have to see - though it is pleasing to see Farke/Webber getting the squad as good as sorted so early on.

The defence is a shambles.

No cover at left back (Husband no good).

No right backs who are any good (Marshall should be playing higher up in keeping with his good work at Millwall)

Centre backs looking very shaky with no other options.

The Pinkun is currently running with this
"Celtic midfielder Regan Hendry is reportedly training with Norwich

City ahead of a possible deal before Thursday’s transfer deadline
The 20-year-old represented Scotland at various youth levels but is yet

to make his debut for the Glasgow giants and looks unlikely to force his

way into Brendan Rodgers’ plans.

The Celtic academy product made 13 appearances for Raith, becoming a

regular starter during a good end to the campaign, falling just a point

short of title winners Ayr United but then losing their play-off against

Championship club Alloa Athletic 4-1 on aggregate.

It looks

likely that the former Scotland Under-19 international would initially

be an addition to City’s under-23 squad, if the Canaries can offer him a

clearer pathway to their first team.

Hendry – who can play

centrally or on the wing – captained the Hoops under-19s in the Uefa

Youth League last season and scored twice in two group stages games,

against Paris Saint-Germain and Anderlecht."

Pretty low key day for us on Thursday I think.

I''d hope we go use the loan market to add a sprinkling of quality once teams have decided who they want to keep around. Reiss Nelson or Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal would both be great shouts if Arsenal want to send them off to learn the mens game.

Farke and Webber do seem pretty happy with the squad. Only position I can see adding to is perhaps a striker if Olivera goes but Rhodes was clearly intended as first choice.

Re Lewis, Stiepermann did a great job last season there and I''m sure will again this season. I miss seeing Zimm in the back 4 too!

As for RB, Passlack will settle in nicely I''m sure

We also still have Russ with us as it stands. I''d expect him to move on too, either as a transfer or most likely a loan.

I suspect it may be quiet too, with loans likely to wait until next week as clubs see who they can buy (sell) first - sorting out the loans after that.

What is clear, to me anyway, is that (barring failure to find a loan club & a huge unprecedented defensive crisis) Russ will not be appearing for us this season.

What happens to Pinto and Nelson will be interesting - but I suspect we already have Nelsons replacements in.

Lewis once fit with Husband & Steipermann as options should be enough for LB, and I think overall the squad is pretty well covered. Just time to perform.

I wouldn''t be disappointed if we ''go with what we have got'' to quote previous managers.

Would expect R.Martin to move on and would like to see a couple of youngsters go out on loan to lower level football league clubs (where they can get time on the pitch), maybe Aarons, Oxborough and even Cantwell, but this depends on how many we need to keep for the bench to cover out homegrown quota.

Not convinced we have nelson''s replacement in. Obviously rhodes is his replacement in the team but if oliviera goes then we would surely need another striker in the squad. We had this issue last season. Oliviera injured left us with jerome and no other option. We need a 3rd striker imo.

Nelson was in portugal over the weekend. Could be trying to engineer a move back home?

Shame really but seems like it is for the best.[/quote]
I think it''s best all ways round to be honest. Absolutely incredible player on his day but seems to have a real attitude and ego problem. I would imagine he is one of the less helpful senior members in the dressing room. He''s never lasted at any club he''s been at, there are reasons for that.

Re: Olly going and another striker being required.

Perhaps we could do worse than put in a bid for Josh Windass at Rangers.

He might have a £3m release clause but he''s one of those who will rise in value sharply if he comes off, which seems highly probable.

It would put the binmen''s noses out of joint also as apparently Hurst wants him on the cheap, but Gerrard is keen to hang onto the player.

We can surely offer better terms than Ipswich, have better prospects and we seem to be specialising nowadays at promoting youth. Besides it would surely be more fun playing in front of full houses than in front of row upon row of empty blue seats.

Perhaps Nelson would like to include Scotland in his travels? I can see him getting on better with Stevie G. than he did with DF for a starters.

I can''t see us bringing in anyone else when NO goes, unless it''s a Prem loanee.

Can''t see us buying anyone either. Loanee would be fine, but maybe Idah is ready to make the step up to the fringe squad.

Another one to consider - IF Remi is going out on loan, then do we need another keeper? McGovern doesn''t count on the home grown quota and is no great shakes himself. McGovern is OK as keeper cover unless Krul gets a major injury, but it''s more the homegrown quota dictating the squad selection i foresee being a potential flashpoint.

The number of non home grown has already shaped a match day squad.

Tt does seem a little extravagant having McGovern on the bench and highly unlikely to play when an english qualified keeper would allow, for example, Buendia to make the bench with the option of influencing the result. I agree he may not get on, but it is all about having the best options.

Yeah that was my line of thinking. Obviously it will ease when Lewis comes back in, but by the same token Chelsea have just signed Rob Green specifically for the homegrown quota. Reserve keeper that doesn''t fit the quota seems like an inefficient use of the system. May not be a priority, but if it precludes the new signings being used as we''re having to toe the quota line then it seems rather more important than at first glance.

I can''t see us making any more high profile signings. We''ll probably see Martin and Oliveira move out, and possibly fringe players like Cantwell or Remi. Agree that McGovern on the bench feels like a waste of a home grown place.

Is Thursday''s closure just for permanent signings or does the loan window close then as well? I know overseas loans can be done to the end of the month.

Interesting comments from Webber (Pinkun news)
"“It’s not finished, so we’re not quite done yet,” said the club’s

sporting director, with the deadline for permanent transfers in England

5pm on Thursday.
“Overall the window has gone well so far, hopefully

there are no nasty surprises around the corner, but I think we should be

pretty happy with our business so far."
"Maddison’s club record move to Leicester City was the catalyst.

“It’s

been the most interesting window of my life,” said Webber. “For a start

the level of that deal is the biggest one I’ve personally been involved

with and that was tough, that was six months of work that went into

that deal
.

“People see the end of it but that’s months of preparation, of PR around the player, of playing poker with clubs and agents.

“That

was tough. I was relieved that James and Josh Murphy were done early,

as much as of course on a personal level we don’t want those players to

leave.

“It then enabled us to do some work and my greatest concern, if I’m

being honest, at the end of the last season was, ‘What if those go all

the way to the end of August and we can’t sign anyone?’”

I find it odd that there is so little (apparent) interest in Nelson; I would have thought that there was at least one manager with confidence in thinking they can get the best from him, as there is talent to exploit.

Some rumblings that Hannover may be interested in Klose although I expect wages to be the barrier. If Timm is interested they I am sure we will accept an offer. But I dont expect any activity today.

To be fair ZLF, Nelson seemed to have a move all agreed but fell through. Couldnt tell you who. But problem was personal terms seemingly.
