65Vintage 5 Posted January 27, 2018 Norwich and Ipswich have the same points in the League. Many of our Club''s Fans want a rich buyer to take over, to boost it''s chances of promotion, and the big time, as our current supporter/supporter owner/sponsorship model seems outdated, and perhaps unlikely to succeed. Ipswich have a rich owner, who invests little in the squad, and who has put them massively into debt but also produced total stagnation.Totally different models, yet Ipswich have so far come off worse over recent years - but are now level with us.For me our model is maybe outdated and the current incarnation of this model is the last chance to prove it might work. It still needs more time though. But the Ipswich model shows we have to be so careful to find the right investor, should our owners decide to sell - otherwise we could end up in exactly the same position as Ipswich, in the same League for a long while, but just with Ipswich just having been here longer than us - and with more debt! Hairy Canary 697 Posted January 27, 2018 We have millions of pounds of parachute payments this year.
Nuff Said 5,121 Posted January 27, 2018 Which have been spent on the salaries of players who are no longer in the team, giving us little or no advantage.
Hairy Canary 697 Posted January 27, 2018 Fair enough but many of them will be here next year when the parachute are not. Very unfortunate for Farke to be here at such a tough time financially.
Guest Posted January 28, 2018 Does anyone really believe that all mega rich owners continually pump millions into clubs. If so, Southampton wouldn''t have to sell any of their homegrown players to other clubs with less wealthy owners. And let''s not forget that Ipswich won their five opening games. So in fact they have got 25 points from their last 24 games. We had four points from our first five games so have 36 points from our last 24 games. So the trend would say they we will comfortably finish above them. paul moy 235 Posted January 28, 2018 ... and apparently Leeds are having a good season, with hopes of the play-offs, but if you look at the table, they are only three points ahead of us.... and we never beat teams above us according to some, but the team are gradually proving them wrong.
