One man team

Has a side ever relied on one player as much as we rely on James Maddison? No question we would be in and around the relegation places without him.

The two penalties were won by Olly and Hernandez, so can’t agree, but a fantastic player no doubt, will command a big fee.

As others have said, why moan....jus put enjoy the fact we have a brilliant young player in the team.

Same goes for all the others who keep banging on about he won’t be here next year, just be glad that we have a very special player now.

Ps we’ve also been heavily reliant on key players in the past... huckerby and Wes for example.

He is our Hazard and I so enjoy watching him play. His brain works way ahead of everyone elses.

You would think he’d have a positive effect on Edwards? Maddison appears to be a very hard working young man with a good head.

He''s our player. We signed him in front of a lot of other clubs. We developed him further. He''s in our team and blossoming. And he is a joy to watch.

Or he''s a stick to beat the club with...

If I were Southgate id be looking to call him up to tha National squad for a friendly to have a look at him. He’s the real deal, irrelevant of what league he’s playing in. The closest in technique to Beckham that I’ve seen

The criminal thing is that (a) we sent him to Aberdeen for the first half of last season, where he was excellent, and then (b) when he came back we never played him until the middle of April. If he had been here, and playing all season, he could have made the difference and we could now be in the PL as he hasn''t gone from not good enough last season to being the first name on the team sheet this season. What was Neil thinking about.

The impact he''s had this season coupled with the maturity he''s shown suggest his developement has been excellent.

Every so often a youngster comes through, Ali being the last really good lower league youngster to make a huge impact after his move, from what we’ve seen this season of Maddison, he’s in that class. Great young pro.

Did we not send him back to Coventry and then to Aberdeen rather than sit him on the bench or play him in U23s?

Football''s changed since the days of the reserve team.

We are a complete 1 man team. I really fear for us once Maddison goes, no matter what money we get for him.

I can''t see us attracting/ finding good enough players to get out of this league for a long while. Keeping Maddison and hoping to build something around him with 10, average, hardworking players is the best we can hope for IMO.
That was your point MP. I didnt miss it.

My point was that we got his developement spot on.
No we didn''t. We wasted his talents for a whole season by sending him to other clubs when it must have been clear that he was already good enough to get into our team but we never gave him a chance until it was too late. Just another example of us getting it completely wrong.

It was for his developement. He was sent out to DEVELOP his footballing skills and work ethic,to mature. It worked extremely well.We got it completely right. How hard is that to understand?

So Maddison has become an excellent player because he trained with, and played for,Coventry’s first team and Aberdeen’s first team rather than Norwich’s first team? Doesn’t say much for this club.

I doubt the transfer fee he will command will be large enough to reverse this rapid decline of NCFC. The league position flatters the quality of Norwich’s squad, and Maddison alone has saved Norwich from potential relegation.

No he hasn''t. He has made some great contributions to our season, but if he wasn''t playing then someone else would have been and the team and season might have developed differently - not necessariy for the worse either.  Wes might have had more games to start with and formations and game play might have been different.  Maddison is a great player, but he is just one player - and he is still learning his craft.  If he goes he will be missed, but one man''s transfer is another man''s opportunity.

Maddison is a PL player take him out of any championship side and it will weaken the team we will be very lucky to replace him with someone who will play as well as he has this season
