The Delia Bond

Recommended Posts

After all the mistakes and mismanagement that the Suffolk Socialists have presided over the past 21 years what a damn cheek that they should be asking fans to pay for the academy upgrade.

You would have thought that at as a matter of personal contrition the Suffolk Socialists would have paid for the upgrade out of their own pocket. This would have at least gone some way to making up for all the millions that were ****** up against the wall according to the boy Webber. But to ask fans to now pay for their mistakes is brazen in the extreme.

If the Suffolk Socialists love the club so much how come they never put in any money they don''t expect to get back? If they really loved the club then those loans that were repaid could have been gifted to the club in order to pay for the academy upgrade.

It is nonsense to proclaim that foreign investors are all bad when they DO put in money they don''t expect to get back. Look at the Liebherr family at Southampton who paid for their academy out of their own money. There are countless other examples of foreigners putting in money where they don''t expect to get it back so they must love their clubs much more than the SS do here. So for the SS to proclaim that their ownership model somehow sits on the moral high ground is completely baseless. The foreigners are better than them, but they don''t care to admit it. Vinny Tan has been pilloried on here in the past, but guess who''s going to have the last laugh come May??

To make matters worse, the Board is not underwriting the bond, nor providing any security that it will be repaid. It is like they are saying: pay for our mistakes and we will rub your noses in it if the club folds within 5 years.

The academy upgrade is in any case a vehicle for perpetuating the SS ownership of the club. The idea is to develop and sell as many young players as possible so that the self-funding model works for them. It is the only way for them to raise enough money to stay afloat without broadcasting income. The alternative is that they would at some point be forced to sell.

The academy upgrade will not benefit Norwich City as a competitive force because any decent player will be sold before he can do any good here. The club exists henceforth merely to be a feeder club for the EPL.

Vince - "There are countless other examples of foreigners putting in money where they don''t expect to get it back."The one example you give, the Liebherr family at Southampton, charged 5% interest on the money that they lent Southampton and made an absolute fortune from their sale. They paid 12m for the club (from administration) and sold 80% of it for £210 million. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/aug/14/southampton-sell-80-stake-to-chinese-businessman-gao-jishengNot the best example of "foreigners putting in money where they don''t expect to get it back." Leaving aside Man City and Chelsea, name 4 others - this should be easy for you as you say that there are "loads" of them.

Indeed Vinny.

How ironic would it be if Vinny Tan''s Cardiff replaced Southampton at the top table. He who laughs last and all that....

They didn''t give those fans that wanted to a chance to invest and kept the profit on their investment to themselves!Where''s the list of these "loads" of other clubs with "foreign investors are all bad when they DO put in money they don''t expect to get back."Can''t be hard for you to list them... unless you are making it up?

Hypothetically.......If that Club from Suffolk had come forward with this Bond to fund something pertaining to improvements to their infrastructure or their future football development......I wonder what the response would be on here?.....

I''d be more interested to see what the response would be in Suffolk. Especially amongst their local businessmen who the club never reimbursed. Wonder if St Johns Ambulance would invest?

Please make this happen someone ☺

[:)]financially it would be far riskier because of their level of debt and the fact that they have fewer assets.

One of the more intelligent comments:
"Why didn''t they sort it out out years ago if it will only cost £3.5 million, what a shame they have wasted the £80 million parachute payment.

Give it another 18 months and we will see how good they are, when the have no large transfer fee saleable players left."
The worrying thing is that we''re already below them even WITH those "saleable players"!
Purple or anyone else who might know....

Could the binners even offer such a scheme considering their 90m debt?
The question is why would they ?They no longer own their their training ground. Evans made off with it by transferring it to one of his offshore companies. And given their record on repaying what they owe I doubt even the company managing any bond would go anywhere near them. And if ever there was any doubt about the sheer ignorance of our halfwitted neighbours that thread has it in abundance.Parachute money is used to pay PL contracts when in the Championship. We did, the bin filth didn''t. In fact they didn''t pay a whole bunch of people that is why their credit rating is not too good. To then talk about investing in the infrastructure from a club whose ground is beginning to fall apart would be laughable were in not the dimwitted binners.

This is just not true. We have sold on a few, jacob, pritch and maddy soon, but I very much doubt that premiership teams will be hoovering over our squad next season. We look like a mid table champs team, with few outstanding players. As I have said before on more than one occasion, City were mid table 2nd Tier when I first started to support us. As a provincial City this is about par. Arguably we are punching above our weight these days (when even Oxford have a wealthy owner). Again, I repeat, the top clubs always come from the same large conurbations, always have - London, Manchester and Liverpool. Brum remains a mystery. In the top tier when you get to position 7 a Burnley (or Leicester) is allowed to appear. But thats it.

Is Suffolk and Socialist supposed to be an insult. Delia comes from Woking you Noddy!

Delia and Wynnie live in Suffolk and they are life-long socialists. Hence Suffolk Socialists.

Delia has made no secret of the fact that the purpose of the Delia Bond is to manufacture and sell young players to the EPL so that she has the money to offset losses that would otherwise accrue without broadcasting income. Hence feeder club for the EPL. End of.

Whether her plan works out is another matter.......
