yellowandgreen 34 Posted April 11, 2018 Looking back on what has been a far from positive season is it possible to argue that we are heading in the right direction.1. Despite major rebuilding our defence still looks shaky particularly when playing 4 at the back.1a. Zimmerman and Hanley look like great players giving us hope that the defence could be ok even if Klose leaves in the summer.2. Despite having loads of possession of the ball in almost every game we still struggle to score. And as we know scoring first is so important in the league.2a. Recently we have looked more like scoring and at home we have scored 3 goals in a game. Yahooo.3. Farke has had to manage during a period of decimation of the squad. Every single senior player bar Wes and Tim have been culled and loads of new players have come in.3a. Player that have come in are beginning to show they are good enough for this league.4. Tippy Tappy football is boring and on too many occasions both full backs have been left stranded up field when we lose possession in middle third of the pitch.4a. Quick passing possession football with the added ingredient of scoring goals will turn us into the Man City of the championship.5. We have a number of promising young players who have yet to brake through into the first team.5a. Promising young player don’t often fulfill that promise. Think FAcup winning youth team, how many turn out to be good enough for the championship and more to the point good enough for the premiership. So a season of glass half full or glass half empty, you decide As a fully signed up happy clapper I have seen enough positives to believe we will be in the top six come next May.OTBC

AJ 1,169 Posted April 11, 2018 1. I believe I read on here somewhere that there''s very little statistical difference between playing 5 or 4 across the back when it comes to results. We''ll be OK if Klose goes, but it''s a shame we haven''t been playing Raggett to see what he''s made of. The biggest issue for me is losing Tettey in the summer. We have definitely missed Trybull. We''ve certainly conceded much less this season. Sadly, we''ve also scored much less...2. It certainly feels like we''ve won more games with less possession. The reason for that is we have Murphy/Madders/Oliveria and had Pritchard who can all run at pace and we definitely under utilise that sometimes. Our biggest problem all season has been scoring. The main problem from my view is we don''t create many clear goal scoring chances, and when we do our strikers have fluffed them.3. Maybe. Onel looks promising but not much end product yet, Dennis has one goal to his name and a lot to prove. Zimm absolutely, probably our best signing. Leitner if he stays is class, Trybull had been superb as has Reed and Gunn. Hanley has grown into the side too.4. It is fair to think that have huge potential. But (and on this seasons showing it is a ginormous but) we need to score goals.5. We do, and add to that Lewis who has broken into the side this season we have a few things to be excited about. It will be a big pre-season for the likes of Godfrey and Cantwell. However, a lot of players will not make the grade because they haven''t developed enough.Overall this season has been neither good, nor bad. We have had a manager who has a good ethos of young, hungry players and play attractive football, but who has perhaps been naive in tactics at times as he learns the league and has suffered from a lack of squad depth due to selling so many last season. We''ve fixed our leaky defence which in turn has stopped our effective attack from last season. We''ve had attacking players badly out of form, and several defensive and midfield players in good form but apart from one unbeaten run have not really had all elements firing together. As a result, we have finished as a bang on mid-table side. For me, it all depends on what happens this summer and the players we bring in (and keep) as to whether we''ll finish higher or lower next season. However, as it stands given the quality of our squad and financial situation, I would imagine another mid-table finish is not unlikely.

Guest Posted April 11, 2018 We started the season with two recognised strikers, and the opening game against Fulham was full of glaring misses. And it has got worse culminating with last night when we missed from close in too many times.
yellowandgreen 34 Posted April 11, 2018 I am on lots of happy pills it’s true. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to give them out to others. My daily prescription does come with green and yellow glasses and I have found when I don’t wear them everything looks terrible. I also suffer from an increasing hatred for the colours blue and white. And of course outbursts of booing at halftime.
