lappinitup 629 Posted November 24, 2017 http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/norwich-city-to-research-atmosphere-problems-at-carrow-road-1-5293673"Asked what else could be done to improve the atmosphere, answers included playing better football, more flags and banners, improving half time entertainment and the reintroduction of On The Ball City at the start of games"."playing better football" - No, only winning football would improve the atmosphere, style comes later."more flags and banners" - Would make no difference at all to those who were there, would just look better for TV."improving half time entertainment" - Go back to ten minutes as it used to be, no time to be bored."the reintroduction of On The Ball City at the start of games" - Just no!The players trundling out holding kids hands and the mandatory handshakes greeted by polite clapping has helped kill the atmosphere. Previously, the anticipation building up to the game and then the team RUNNING out five minutes before kick-off culminating in a ROAR when they took the field meant the atmosphere was simmering from the start. These changes were never for the benefit of the game or the fans, simply a means of making money for the clubs (more time to sell food and drinks at half-time, TV adverts, and charging extortionate fees to the parents of child mascots). And as far as safe standing goes? You can shout just as loud sitting down as you can standing up, her indoors will vouch for that. [:$]So many things in football have changed for the better over the years, pitches, seats, roofs, toilets etc, but in my view, the things I''ve mentioned above have been a lot of the reason why fans are quieter these days. AJ 1,306 Posted November 24, 2017 The solution is simple - score more goals and bring back the Samba De Janeiro!
Woodman 92 Posted November 24, 2017 I think playing some old classics pre-match, would create a good atmosphere:- Samba de Janeiro- Daydream believer (surely we don''t have to be PC about the alternative lyrics!?)- Just can''t get enough- OTBC (obviously)- the music from the darts (that we haven''t heard much of recently!)- If we have to shoe horn Park Life in there, I don''t mindAny more I''ve missed? Making Plans 957 Posted November 24, 2017 Don''t allow anyone over 60 who has had a season ticket for more than 10 years to renew it.
Big Vince 390 Posted November 24, 2017
Don''t allow anyone over 60 who has had a season ticket for more than 10 years to renew it.
So that therefore includes the Suffolk Socialists as they claim to buy season tickets even though they could get in for nothing.Would be rabidly in favour of that. Rock The Boat 1,332 Posted November 24, 2017 I would like to see gladiators (real ones not the poncy TV variety) fighting lions, tigers, or any other dangerous but endangered animal in the half-hour before kick off. The sight of blood, gore and brutal death (of either gladiator or animal) would, I believe, raise the passion of the crowd as kick off time approaches. It would also teach young children that life is not always a bed of thornless roses. The defeated could be butchered, roasted, and served up in wholemeal baps with a little coleslaw at half-time. An extra income stream. What''s not to be liked?

They accept whatever is dished up and are happy to carry on regardless.

Guest Posted November 24, 2017 Take an opposition player of the pitch every 10 mins. At least we won''t lose that way.Or bring Trevor Hockey out of retirement.

Later, I think 1984 a very young Duncan Edwards won a week''s coaching break at Pontins Pakefield and Trevor Hockey was one of the coaches. We are both proud to have met the great man. Hockey died April 1st 1986 in his full football kit after playing an indoor five-aside-match.
Guest Posted November 25, 2017 I''d have him in the Hall Of Fame. Problem is he only played 13 games for us. But can any one have made a greater impact in so few games? It was amazing how he is the one player I would nominate as having an immediate effect as soon as he signed let alone set foot on the pitch for us.He had the look, the attitude and the energy to turn around a team that was going to be relegated with a whimper into one that clawed its way out of the bottom. You would never have guessed that he had broken hos leg 12 months before he joined us.I know he wouldn''t get away with it now, but he is just the sort of player we need in our midfield right now.
