Isn’t it strange how people forget the past? There was venomous protests against Robert Chase and he literally was hated by the majority of fans at the time. Now we want him back????? No thanks! As for the current owners, for me they have outstayed their welcome too. Let’s have someone fresh though

It is strange. One of the main accusations from the Private Frazer Brigade against Smith and Jones is that they have presided over unnecessary relegations, and supposedly always just at the wrong time, when more money was coming into the Premier League, and we could this time really, really have established ourselves...They never cite the most blatant example, of 1994-95, just two seasons after finishing third, when the chairman gambled halfway through the campaign that the team was already safe and so he didn''t need to spend a bit of money on an decent goalie to replace the injured Gunn.

And, yes, this was just when the money was starting to come into the Premier League, and we had enjoyed nine consecutive seasons in the top flight. And, not least because of the financial mess the chairman had left, we would not get back for a decade.

Can’t even believe I am even botherig to reply...

1. Is it even possible to sack the board? Who’s responsiblity would it be?

2. If it was possible, what exactly would happen? We would still have no money, Delia would still be majority shareholder, we just wouldn’t have a board of directors? What would the point of that be?

Not a big fan of Bob Chase and I was present at the protests outside the ground......Wonder if those ''veteran fans'' that defend & support the current owners and board, also protested for Bob''s removal?......

Anyway, I can''t see us ever playing the likes of Inter or Bayern in a competitive competition again - or reaching Cup semi-finals, or that we''ll finish in the top 6 of the Premiership in the foreseeable future......?

But, it''s all history and now long gone......(Oh, and I wouldn''t have Bob back either)......

Keep pullin'' ''em in Vince......and throw them sprats back in......

Half a league, half a league,

Half a league onward,

All in the valley of Death

Rode the disgruntled.

"Forward, the Lightweight Brigade!

I''m right behind you" Vince said;

Into the valley of Death

Rode the disgruntled.

Three points spring to mind:

1. As I recall, the main problem in 94-95 was that we stopped scoring goals and teams that do that go down. So the goalie was not the main issue for me.

2. I would never go as far as to give the Suffolk Socialists ten years grace because of the "financial mess" left by Chase. Their own incompetence over the whole 21 years of their tenure demonstrates that they are ill-deserving of any such a period of grace.

3. The Suffolk Socialists have their own little "financial mess" on their CV - the £21 million debt that had built up by 2009 and which took the interventions of Bowkett and McNasty and Lambert to clear up.

Gunn got injured in the 21st game, so exactly halfway through the season. In that first half we scored 19 and conceded 18. In the second half we scored 18 (that is only one less, in case your maths is not up to it) and conceded 36, which is exactly double. So we didn''t stop scoring. We just started letting in hatfuls of goals. We accumulated 30 points with Gunn and 13 without. And Chase sat on his hands, or rather on his money, gambling we would be safe.

We still had a problem scoring as 37 goals in the season is less than one per game.

And on what basis are the goals conceded entirely due to the goalkeeper? Norwich City have always been good at letting in goals so to ascribe this relegation to one player is very far-fetched.

Is Chase still alive ? He must be getting on a bit by now

A quick Google search would suggest he is 78.

Thanks Greavsie.

I wonder if he ever attends a game? There was nobody with more ambition than HIM at Carrow Road, it’s be a shame to think he’d missed out on our recent top flight flirtations and Wembley.

He’d have loved a Wembley win on his CV.

I reckon he can''t be far off 80 now.Not '' Big Bob '' now though. Saw him outside the Theatre Royal a while back and he''s more like size zero now.

For all that went on back in the day you''d think he''d be a bit older perhaps ?He might have slipped into Carrow Rd in disguise over the last 20-odd years but the only games where there''s been definite sightings was at Selhurst Park back in the day when he was snuggling up to his old mate Ron Noades. He won''t have done that lately as Ron died a few years ago. Can''t imagine he wasn''t at Wembley for the Play-Off Final though.

There was also a report on the EDP in 2010 saying his property, Halvervgate hall, was up for sale, although he wasn''t leaving the area, but looking to spend more time visiting family (one son in Oz).

It was that article that quoted his age as 71.

That is simply not accurate. The condition of the South Stand could not be pinned on Chase. It was an old stand that was always going to get done last on the list of priorities. The new stand was built some 8 years after he left and he would have got round to that too had he not been hounded out. As it was, Chase built the City Stand, the two corner infills, Barclay Stand, bought the old car park land and land behind the South Stand (which proved he had it in mind finish the work on the stadium.) He also bought the land at Colney and built the training facility there.

You claimed the debt stood at £21 million in 2009 and then babbled on about McNally and Bowkett sorting this debt out so as be be managable and i am saying a large chunk of that debt was unavoidable due to the rebuilt of The South Stand which cannot therefore be laid at Delia''s door. Chase had no plans to rebuilt it.Oh and The City Stand was paid for by Norwich Union as the result of the fire which took place before Chase took office so he only claim to fame is that it was rebuilt on his watch. To think you accuse me of not being accurate.

The contract was awarded to R.G. Carters and the rift was brought about as Sir Arthur South the then chairman was married to Bob Carters widow Lady Mary.
