lake district canary 4,531 Posted December 24, 2017 Have watched MOTD for last few weeks after not having watched it since we were relegated from the PL. What strikes me even more than ever is the cheating that goes on every week, every match - players going down too easily, on their way down before even touched, running into an outstretched boot and falling over, etc etc. Yes, I know it''s been there for years, but now the numerous camera angles and slow motion show these up in ever more detail.........yet the pundits still say "he''s entitled to go down" or whatever. Football will ever be the game it was while such blatant cheating is deemed acceptable. The obvious dive or the badly timed dive is lambasted, yet the subtle ones are not - even though under close scrutiny they are just as obvious. The best cheaters think they can get away with it, but the close camera attention merely highlights their play acting and deception. It has got to the stage that if you are a good cheater, you get the decision, but if you are really fouled but stay on your feet in honesty, you don''t get the decisions. Pathetic - and made worse by pundits who are indioctrinating people into a mindset that is morally wrong..."he was entitled to go down"...PAH! Rant over. JF 694 Posted December 24, 2017 Players are now getting suspensions for such behaviour but the answer really has to be punish the clubs with a points deduction. It’s no good suspending a player who dives and wins a penalty when his actions have earned the club 3 points. Punish the clubs and it will stop
paul moy 235 Posted December 24, 2017 Points deduction is definitely the way to go.
SwindonCanary 455 Posted December 24, 2017 It may improve with the introduction of video refs.
Rogue Baboon 0 Posted December 24, 2017 I would extend the 2 game ban for ‘successful’ diving to all diving, and the feigning of injury to try and get a player sent off (think Nelson v Leeds)
Yellow Wal 314 Posted December 24, 2017 Two and three game bans are a waste of time! For obvious diving increase the ban to five games, the same for the ''professional fouls''. For serious foul play, the leg breaking tackles that attract straight red cards, increase the bans to ten games.Only then will players stop the things that are ruining the game and only then will clubs stop instructing and encouraging players to cheat. FCC 76 Posted December 24, 2017 Spot on LDC - “he had a right to go down”. Garbage. If you run into an outstretched leg, that’s you fault. Different to being unable to avoid a mistimed tackle.
pete 318 Posted December 24, 2017 2 questionable penalties in last few days Gray (Leicester) in Carabao and Alli yesterday they seemed to be more dubious than the 2 already punished for diving. But Alli plays for top team will he be punished, seems he''s out of control scything down opponents and diving at every opportunity. But dpn''t expect the authorities to take control.
