Keeping two deeper also give the wing backs more freedom to bomb on. Maddison won''t be out wide either. If you watch Chelsea in the his formation the 2 who play up with the striker (usually Hazard and one of Pedro, William and Fabregas) tuck in, interchange quite a lot and use the wingbacks to create width on the overlap. Vrancic understands what Farke wants from him and delivers it on the pitch, even if many of those watching appreciate neither.
